It was a tough opening match of the playoffs for the London Roar as they came up just short against an inspired LA Current. The result went all the way to the final skins race, but a series of tight finishes swayed the result towards the American team. Roar co-captain Sydney Pickrem and backstroke ace Kira Toussaint join this week’s London Roar podcast to look back at that match and talk about how the team will bounce back next week. It was a close run thing as the Roar pushed Energy Standard to the wire in their third match of this year’s ISL. Second place secured a spot in the playoffs though, and Steve and Katie are joined by Roar stalwarts Emma McKeon and Kyle Chalmers to review an exciting match and look forward to what comes next week, with another chance to have a go at Energy. The London Roar made their debut into International Swimming League season 3 with their opening match blowing away the cobwebs and showing some promise for the season ahead. Steve and Katie caught up with Roar swimmers Dylan Carter and Duncan Scott to look back at that match and to consider the challenges to come. It was a rip-snorting week of swimming at the British Olympic selection trials with 23 swimmers putting themselves forward for a shot at Olympic selection alongside the 4 who had already been confirmed. The action in the water produced high drama, some incredible speed and a new bunch of names to watch. Who caught our eye? How good was the men's 200m freestyle? A hard fought double header closed the regular season for the Roar as they secured their semi final place. With eyes now turning to the knockout rounds we caught up with freestyle superstar Freya Anderson and Olympic silver medallist James Guy to get the lowdown on the two matches. Barcelona in 2003 saw a highpoint for British swimming as the team claimed a then record 8 world championship medals. At the vanguard of that charge was Katy Sexton, who claimed silver in the 100m backstroke before becoming the first British woman to win a world title in the 200m event.
