| 9/4/26 | Houston Astros Handle White Sox | We hope your ears are hungry because this episode is packed full of ‘tent! Your Houston Astros took three games in a four game series with the 2nd seeded White Sox and are looking to keep the momentum going! We take a look at pitching woes and the hopeful solution and list all 18 starters the Astros used this season (that’s why the episode is so long). Then we take a look at the Houston Texans 53-man roster and practice squad moves before we take a look at the team’s offensive line. This year looks to be different but doomers have been stressed. Which camp are you in? Also, CJ Stroud declines an extension and bets on himself, which makes sense seeing that he’s coming off a rough season. After that we take a look at national news: escándelo! The Clippers have been hit hard and now PT has his eyes on the Dodgers. Finally we finish with some Rockets and Dynamo roster moves. Highlight of the episode is a Baby Cat appearance where she waves at me! | 8/31/26 | Astros Bounce Back In New York | Welcome new listeners and readers! (If you’re here because of my ridiculous internet jokes I do have a comedy sub too! Check it out at spacecadetpaul) Ok, shameless plug over. Your Houston Astros had one of the worst weeks of the decade—at least from a narrative standpoint—last week. But the Stros brought their offense with them to Broadway, because all of a sudden they look formidable again! I haven’t been on a see-saw since I was in elementary school, but I’m pretty sure this is what it felt like. Yordan is looking like an MVP candidate again and is looking to chase the Triple Crown this September. Jose Altuve sneakily had a great bounce back August. And I explain why the Astros still have a punchers chance of winning the AL West even though the national media is still all about the Mariners! We also talk some foosball as the NFL season is primed to kick off. The Houston Texans have set their 53-man roster and we take a brief look at the roster before we stop by Dynamo Corner. If this Astros season has given you emotional whiplash, I’m right there with you. Come commiserate and let’s try to keep our emotions in check as the team will chase the fight all the way to the last week of the season. I’m already exhausted…Vamos vamos Houstonand abolish ICE Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 29m 26s | ||||||
| 8/24/26 | Astros GM Dana Brown Fired/Manager Joe Espada Won’t Be Resigned | The Houston Astros announced this morning that Dana Brown is no longer the GM of the team and shortly after it was announced that Joe Espada was told he was not going to be returning to the team next season. Espada was given the choice of remaining with the team until the end of this season or leaving now. The current Astros manager chose to stay with the team, despite currently dealing with an undisclosed family situation. While the Astros needed a shake up, it’s head-scratching that the moves were made with about a month left in the regular season. We here at the podcast are worried that Jim Crane is about to make more desperate moves (and potentially moves that a baseball GM would be hesitant to co-sign). Could he resign Montero and an aging 1st baseman like he did last time he put himself in charge? We are a bit worried about what a month of desperation could do. After losing three series to some of the worst teams in baseball, the Astros need to play some winning baseball. Welcome to the crash-out! Let’s talk about this emotional decision, what lead to it, and speculate on the ramifications of what can happen next.Vamos vamos Houstonand abolish ICE Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 29m 26s | ||||||
| 8/18/26 | Astros Lose Series to M’s | Wow, it took a lot to get a pod out this week; so bless our mess! The Astros lost a tough series to the division-thorn-in-our-side Mariners but have an opportunity to make up ground with back-to-back series against the Angels and A’s. Is this offense as lackluster as it feels? Is the pitching actually turning a corner? We look at some numbers and take some guesses on today’s pod—all while carrying a baby! | 8/14/26 | Astros Have Must Win Series Coming Up | The Astros have been up and down so far in August and Yordan Alvarez has been human, but do they have what it takes to solidify their lead in the AL West by winning some series this upcoming week? To quote The Mask, “I’d like to think so!” Sorry this podcast has taken a bit to get out but better late than never…right? We talk about the up and down month and what the Astros need to secure a playoff spot going forward. We also discuss the Houston Texans returning to the field with some pre-season football and scandals in the NBA (and LA). Wild times in sports news right now so we try to touch on a couple of bizarre stories from the past week. We’re not hiding from them in a catering cart! Foosball is right around the corner, people are paying attention to baseball, and LA basketball is on the hot seat in this ep.Vamos vamos HoustonAnd Abolish ICE Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 28m 16s | ||||||
| 8/4/26 | A Look At The Astros After The Trade Deadline | Astros fans may be a little disappointed after a quiet trade deadline, but we kinda expected a slow one here at the pod. We say goodbye to Spencer Arrighetti and hello to Daulton Varsho on this episode and take a look back on a six-game run that ended with he start of the series with Astros trade partner, the Toronto Blue Jays. Could this be enough to keep the Astros on top of the AL West? With or without a trade haul, the Astros are going to have to win series for the next couple of months. With healthy pitching and a MVP candidate racing for the Triple Crown could it be enough? We discuss this and more on the ep.Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 31m 13s | ||||||
| 7/28/26 | Astros Slowly Climbing AL West | Your Houston Astros are currently in second place in the AL West and have a chance to take first if they can get consistent and make moves at the trade deadline. A nice 5 game winning streak and sitting back and letting the Angels beat themselves help, but they’re going to have to figure out their starting rotation yet again with Spencer Arrighetti going to the IL with a foot injury. Also, can the offense (outside of Yordan Alvarez) find consistency too, please? We take a look at the last week for the Houston Astros and even take a brief visit to Dynamo Corner before Baby Cat wakes up.Vamos vamos HoustonAbolish ICE Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 29m 59s | ||||||
| 7/21/26 | Astros Stumbling After All-Star Break | The Houston Astros were swept by the Orioles in their first series back from the break and the vibes are bumming us out, fam. The Stros could only muster 2 runs a game for the series and we need another bat ASAP. Hopefully, the Marlins series will help the team get right but health and a trade are desperately needed. In this episode we ponder if the panic meter needs to be busted out and look at the pitchers before producer Baby Catarina wakes up from her nap! Here’s hoping they get that swag back by playing Miami, but what will it take for this team to get into the postseason? Also, do you have a DJ Khaled impression? All that and more on this ep.Vamos vamos HoustonAbolish ICE Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 27m 21s | ||||||

| 1/27/26 | Rockets Rebound/Texans Retrospective/Astros Winter News | They world has been wild and Paul’s own little world has been busy, but it’s time for a H-Town check-in after a wild week and a half. We start off with a note on the heartbreak that this country has been facing (for quite some time now) at the hands of the hateful and cowardly, but then we give a quick salve for the sadness: talking about the emotional roller coaster that is being a Houston fan. These Houston teams have taken fans for a tumultuous ride in 2025 and we’re hoping for less bumps in 2026. CJ Stroud will be the main character in memes until he beats the big game allegations. But is our emotional response to the game the best one? What is CJs future in Houston? We break down our opinion and then talk about the Houston Astros roster going into spring training. And finally follow up with a brief check in with the state of Rockets basketball in January. Are the growing pains for this team over or are they in desperate need of some new life via trade? Let us know what you think.Vamos vamos Houston YAbolish ICE Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 37m 55s | ||||||
| 1/16/26 | Texans Winning Streak/Rockets Have A Rough Winter/Astros Sign Imai | The holiday break was fantastic for your boy, but it’s time to check back in with your Houston sports teams. The Texans have won 10 games in a row and are set to play the New England Patriots this weekend. After a 30-6 win and a bumbling offensive outing the Texans still bring hope to Paul’s heart. Meanwhile, the Rockets have been going through some big growing pains. Is this just a bump in the road or indicative of something bigger? We think the Rockets will get right after a win against the Bulls…but their next task is the OKC Thunder. I bet the competitive team we’ve been used to shows back up in this one. And the biggest news: Astros sign Japanese pitcher Tatsuya Imai in a stunning move to acquire more pitching. The Astros will most likely start the season with a 6 man rotation and are hoping the days of leaning on rookie contributions are over. (I mean, we’ll still take them as a luxury but hoping they’re not a necessity.)Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 41m 13s | ||||||
| 12/19/25 | Paul’s Picks NFL Week 16 | Last week Paul and Carla were able to pick 13 winners and now y’all have to hear about it all week. Maybe the season hasn’t gone too well, so we’ll take a strong week to power us through the end of the year! We remind you that Paul’s Picks is a comedy performance as we look ahead at the NFL games this upcoming week and try to deduce who will win. DEDUCE! We take a look at the Raiders-Texans game and even talk a bit about the Rockets as trading rumors start heating up. What are your expectations for the Texans and Rockets this season? | 12/17/25 | Texans Take Care Of Business/Rockets Get Ref-ed | Your Houston Texans dominate a game they should have dominated beating the Cards 40-20. We look at a RB stepping up in a big spot. Talk about injuries and our hopes going forward for the rest of the year. Then we talk about the refs…I’m sorry about the Rockets-Nuggets game. I forgot the refs weren’t the star of that show. The Rockets lose in overtime to a great team…but with a little help from a bad call. Then we ask Santa for some help for the Astros this winter. | 12/13/25 | Paul’s Picks - NFL Week 15 | The Texans are on a roll, but the picks are…not. This season has had more ups and downs than a broken elevator, but that hasn’t broken our spirits as we try to pick ourselves back up and picks some winners. After the comedy routine of trying to pick winners, we discuss the Rockets scrapping by the Clippers and some Astros Winter Hot Stove Rumors.Vamos vamos Astros Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 34m 32s | ||||||
| 12/9/25 | Texans Look To Keep Momentum Going | After a week off to eat food and sleep, Paul and Carla are back to talk Texans as they step into the national narrative as KC Destroyers. Let’s not over-react yet, but: what a great win for this team and it keeps the season hopes alive for this football team that started the season so poorly. We also look at the Rockets and talk about which lineup you might prefer. And finally talk about Jake Meyers’ future with the Astros. I hope you all ate well and are very grateful. Please remember I’m not the slender man.Vamos vamos Astros Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe | 30m 19s | ||||||
