The excitement of being within Trad range of an animal definitely will make the heart pound. But being within Trad range of a grizzly takes it to a whole other level. It is imperative that the hunter makes no mistakes and stays focused on the job at hand. One small lapse in focus can mean a blown hunt, or death in the jaws of one of the most formative animals a bowhunter could ever dream of hunting. It takes a special hunter to take a grizzly with traditional gear. Rick Snell, “Mr. Grizzly”, has spent much of his life hunting these magnificent animals with his recurve. This week Rick joins Alan Altizer as he shares several grizzly hunts and a couple of black bear stories. Having taken over 20 grizzlies with a recurve, he has some incredible stories. The wilderness of Florida has historically been one of the most challenging hunting environments in North America. Having forged traditional bowhunting skills since the time of the Seminole Indians and those of the Thompson brothers, as told in “The Witchery of Archery”, Florida has produced some of the most skilled bowhunters and trad friendships in our history. One of these friendships is that of Don Davis and Flip Pallot. This week we are blessed to have Don join Alan Altizer in a discussion on the Florida wilds and his close friendship with a man most consider to be a legend in the fly fishing and traditional bowhunting worlds, but Don called him his friend. Don and Alan cover hunting and the wildness of Florida, which provides a better insight into the friendship that grew between Don and Flip. Dreams do come true with good planning and hard work. Mike Yancey is a prime example of being able to experience multiple hunts of a lifetime. Just back from his 8th trip to Africa, Mike shares how a little planning and steady work has allowed him to not only hunt Africa again but share the experience with his wife and friends. Mike explains the steps to making a dream hunt become a reality, whether Africa or somewhere else. Additionally, he shares several great hunts.

On this episode Dalton sits down for an early morning chat with diehard bowhunter Chris Weist. This week Alan Altizer is once again honored to be joined by Montana’s legendary traditional bowhunter Rosie Roseland. Now an Alaskan native, Rosie is considered one of the best elk hunters with a traditional bow out there. Rosie graciously shares his wealth of elk hunting knowledge and a variety of techniques that have led to his continuing success for the last five decades. Times and the country have changed, and calling is far less effective. Rosie shares techniques that will help the average guy on public land kill an elk. This one is a must!!!!!

We are once again extremely honored to have Mr. M. R. James, founder of Bowhunter Magazine, share memories of his close friend, Paul Schafer. Paul Schafer was one of the greatest traditional bowhunters in modern times. Paul’s accomplishments with a trad bow have become legendary. In his short life Paul not only took numerous trophy class animals throughout the world, but he was also an incredible bowyer, an extremely loyal friend, and an amazing father. This week M. R.
