Friends of the Rosary, Today, June 12, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, a feast designated the Friday after the Second Sunday of Pentecost. In the late 17th century, St. Marguerite Marie Alacoque, a cloistered nun of the Visitation Order, received several private revelations of the Sacred Heart. The devotion to the Sacred Heart calls for an “attitude of conversion and reparation, of love and gratitude, apostolic commitment, and dedication to Christ and his saving work,” as the Directory on Popular Piety and the Liturgy denotes. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "Jesus knew and loved us each and all during his life, his agony and his Passion, and gave himself up for each one of us: "The Son of God. . . loved me and gave himself for me" (Gal 2:20). He has loved us all with a human heart. For this reason, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pierced by our sins and for our salvation (Cf.
