From UF Health MedEd Cast by UF Health Shands Hospital

About this episode
This episode discusses the innovative oral airway appliance as an alternative to surgery for children with micrognathia and airway concerns.
The oral airway appliance (OAP) is an innovative alternative to surgery in patients with Pierre Robin Sequence and airway concerns. It allows the child to avoid the risks of surgery, feed orally, and be discharged safely. Additional benefits include the narrowing of cleft palate width if a cleft is present and induction of mandibular catch-up growth. A team approach to using the OAP benefits the child most.
