About this episode

Loren Colin interviews Phillip Carroll about his beliefs and personal journey following the passing of his mother, Wylene Jowers.

The aim of the User Generated America Series is not to change anyone’s mind, I am doing this in the hopes that you, the listener, will join me in putting aside your assumptions and just listen to the other guest for an hour. If the conversation gets you to ask a question about yourself about your own beliefs and why you believe anything, all the better! Today’s guest is Phillip Carroll. Phil is actually the son of Wylene Jowers, who you will recall was the first ever guest on User Generated America. Well, a few months after that chance TikTok Live recording, Wylene passed away. The day before her memorial, a family member found the podcast on YouTube. Our chat was played at Wylene’s service, and then my DMs and email started lighting up, as well as a flood of comments and likes across social media. Wylene’s family started reaching out to let me know how great it was to hear her voice and to have her tell a bit of her own story. Well, when Phil heard his mother, he also wanted a chance to tell a bit about his beliefs. Not only how different his beliefs turned out to be from Wylene’s, but also to share his journey there. Fortunately, that is exactly what we do here at UGA. Enjoy…
