| 5/14/26 | ![]() RERUN-WKRPCast-Episode022-Preacher | WELCOME BACK!We've come to the end of the Season One here at the WKRP-Cast and Sunday mornings will never be the same. This time around we meet the uniquely incomparable former wrestler turned pastor, the Reverend "Little Ed" Pembrooke. Little Ed's Sunday Morning program, brought to you by his "Church of the Mighty Struggle," delivers salvation, victory over sin, the occasional demon through a soda machine and an endless supply of "religious artifacts." Step right up and get your very own "John the Baptist Shower Curtain" or "The World is Coming to an End" Lawn Furniture. It's all absolutely FREE when you make a 'small donation' to the good works of Little Ed's Church. Some of the more 'proper' religious leaders in Cincinnati have noticed Little Ed's electronic tent revival hucksterism. They've descended on WKRP wanting to put a stop to it. Andy's pinned to the wall...Art's making a getaway on an Exercycle and Johnny's worried the good Reverend has set aside an extra heapin' helpin' of healin' just for him. Pull out your checkbooks, fellow babies...er, I mean Brethren...it's time push 'play' and feel the POWER!WATCH ALONG DETAILS...[Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!! We highly recommend the 'Shout Factory' boxed DVD set of the entire WKRP series. For reasons you'll have to listen to in the "Prolog" episode, all streaming versions of the original "WKRP in Cincinnati" have had the original music cues removed. Generic music beds and stings were used in place of the original music for the syndicated version of the series. 'Shout Factory' has been able to restore an estimated 85% of all WKRP music cues to the original "as-aired" content for their DVD release. They've also restored scenes that had been cut to shorten episodes for syndication. The original eps ran 25 minutes. The syndication eps were shortened to 22 minutes. Over 88 episodes that's more than four hours of lost content, including the performance by "Detective" at the end of "Hoodlum Rock." Get the COMPLETE series...get the Shout Factory DVDs. The Shout Factory complete series box has a release date of 2014. All individual seasons of Shout Factory disks were released starting in 2015.]Hey Fellow Babies!! We talked to Gary Sandy. | 5/7/26 | ![]() RERUN-WKRPCast-Episode021-FishStory | WELCOME BACK! You know how some guys are funny when they're mad?? Hugh Wilson must be one of those guys. CBS was all over him during the first season of WKRP to write more "visual gags." Over on ABC, "Laverne & Shirley" was a hit doing a lot of slapstick. Hugh resisted...he fought it...he thought it was lowbrow. He said WKRP is smarter than that!! The Mighty KRP talks about the Archduke Ferdinand and being obtuse!! Hugh gave in. THIS is the result!! Turns out, Hugh's pretty darn funny when he writes visual gags. "Fish Story" is LOADED with the most over-the-top visuals you could imagine...and they ALL...well, okay...and MOST of them work!! This is where they tucked in that incredible B-story about Johnny getting clearer headed with each shot of whiskey!! It's hilarious!! So if you're ready, grab a hat...I don't know, ask Venus...and load up the gang for one heck of a joyride. Officer Plyler would like to see your license and registration, then he advises you to hit "play" while having another shot of Jack Daniels. WATCH ALONG DETAILS...[Want to watch along with us? So just what do we really know about the lovely Ms. Jennifer Marlowe? We don't know where she's from, we've never seen where she lives...we don't even how she gets her peanut butter! In this episode, we take an historic first look in Jennie-poo's apartment. We also meet an old friend from her hometown of "Rock Throw" West Virginia. This old friend, T.J. Watson, claims Jennifer promised to marry him. Jennifer doesn't remember any such thing, but rather than argue she decides to tell T.J. she's already married. Enter our hero, Johnny Fever. The good Doctor takes the fall for Jennifer...literally. This outing is madcap, loaded with laughs and...somewhat sunken, as Johnny's about top learn. Episode Writer and Season One Story Editor Tom Chehak is back with more great stories from the set. This one is a hoot from the holler! Stick some hotdogs in the hotdogger, grab what's left outta Herb's six of beers and hit 'play'...do I hear "Fly Me to the Moon"? Wait a minute, does T.J. have a guitar? Herb's got a personal appearance lined up for Johnny and Venus at a local used car lot. Les is snapping some pix for the paper. Venus is NOT amused! Threats of violence against...Les? It's a pretty heavy scene, man...and we discover Venus might have a few skeletons in his well stocked closet. Andy tries to get to the bottom of it. Art REALLY tries to get to the bottom of it. Ultimately, we wind up with one of the most intense, thought provoking and dramatic half hours of sitcom television you're ever likely to lay eyes on. Randall Ferryman is coming to town and he plans to bury us ALL! Herb has hit the sales guy jackpot. One of the biggest funeral home chains in the country has its sights set on the Queen City and they seem to want to deliver big bags of money to the Flimm Building. Venus was in a band, Bailey can actually sing and Jennifer is making smoke come out of Herb's ears. ENJOY THIS ENCORE PRESENTATION!!]WELCOME BACK!Hang on, fellow babies, we're SUPERSIZED!! It's Allen and Donna Stare! On this episode of the "WKRP-Cast", we tackle one of life's greatest mysteries: are there actually two endings to this episode? And, if there are, WHY??? Johnny blew it when he missed the decimal point on Andy's contest memo. The "big prize" was fifty bucks. Johnny read it as FIVE THOUSAND!! No sweat, we'll just make the contest impossible to win! KRP listeners are obviously musical savants. EVERYBODY is figuring out the impossible puzzle. When it comes time to award the cash, will Johnny Save the Day? Or, will Johnny Have to Pay? He actually winds up doing BOTH!! This is the weirdest, wildest, strangest little detour you'll take in WKRP-land, which is why we invited a very special detour guide: episode writer CASEY PIOTROWSKI joins us with comments and insight!! It's time for another episode of the "WKRP-Cast"...and we've been retooled! Well, we haven't, but the SHOW is supposed to have undergone a major overhaul. Did it? Not so much, thanks to the curmudgeonly behavior of our hero, Mr. Hugh Wilson. This is, oddly for first season, a clip show...with about 14 minutes of new stuff, PLUS an all new "Mama Carlson." We get into what it was like to watch TV back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, the mystery of the cold open, the insanity of network suits and the return of one of the funniest shows on TV...now comfortably seated right behind mega-hit "M*A*S*H"!! What could go wrong...right?? Well, it IS WKRP. Don't count on anything good to last for too long. The WKRP-Cast is on the air...grab your brains, fellow babies, Mama's here and she doesn't look happy. Is your resume up-to-date? Time to hit 'play' and hope she's in a good mood !!YOU KNOW YOU MAKE US WANNA...No shouts in the show, but we did want to take a minute to say a BIG 'Thank You' to Michael Hernandez, the Accountant of Rock. Mike is doing some amazing forensic research regarding the scheduling of WKRP throughout its original run on network. He is doing the digital equivalent of haunting newspaper graveyards and dusty stacks in library attics. His research is yielding some fascinating stuff and we are so glad he is willing to share the highlights with us. We hope to be hitting Mike up in the future regarding show ratings and scheduling. It's all part of what made and influenced the creation of WKRP so we love getting into it! WATCH ALONG DETAILS...[Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!! After a misunderstanding at "the Stadium" Les is barred from post-game locker-room interviews. A player believes Les is homosexual. The news is so distressing it pushes Les onto the ledge of the Flimm building...or, at least SOME building (the Flimm building doesn't have ledges...but we can't let something like that get in the way of a good script!) Of course there's going to be a "Herb Tarlek Fashion Alert". We meet America's first prime-time pothead (hint: you already know him). Welcome back fellow babies to another episode of the "WKRP-Cast." We've watched the Pilot (Part ONE) of "WKRP in Cincinnati." We've picked it apart to the extreme and we're ready to talk about it!! We meet, for the first time ever, the staff and ownership of Cincinnati radio station WKRP. The "Big Guy" (Art Carlson, station...owner?) has hired hotshot new program director Andy Travis, most recently from Santa Fe. Andy is our way in as we meet the wacky staff of the station. We are introduced to the iconic characters that make up the WKRP crew: Arthur, Herb, Les, Jennifer, Bailey, Venus and over-the-hill (?) morning man Dr. Johnny Fever. Learn the real story behind why Les is always bandaged as part of our first regular feature: "The Les Nessman Bandage Report." We expose...or, actually, cover-up...'Nipplegate.' We answer burning questions, like how exactly DO you change a radio station format? (Not like this!!) And what happens when the station is managed remotely by the GM's mother? | 11/28/25 | ![]() RERUN-WKRPCast-Episode000-Prolog w/Allen & Donna | WE ARE IN RE-RUNS! PLEASE ENJOY THIS ENCORE PRESENTATION!Hi!! Our names are Allen and Donna Stare! We are a married couple from the Midwest who have been fans of the television show "WKRP in Cincinnati" since it originally aired. Allen started a career in radio and advertising at age 15 and much of his interest was inspired by WKRP. While Allen comes at the show more from the radio side of things, Donna is a fan of the humanity and the characters that populate the world of WKRP. We are both lovers of trivia, music and history so we decided to pull all of these interests together and start a re-watch podcast. We'll be watching a new episode each week, in broadcast order, with trivia, background insights and opinions. This week, we're setting the table with some general background on the creation of the show, we meet the man whose "baby" it truly was: Mr. Hugh Wilson, we talk about all the problems with the music over the years (it's an epic tale!!) AND we meet the eight regular players who will be a part of WKRP for four years. We felt like it was important to cover these big topics now, so we can hit the ground running with the Pilot-Part1. We hope you join us! Watch along if you can, but even if you don't get a chance to watch the show, each episode of the podcast is full of laughs and a lot of interesting stuff. Hop in the Wayback Machine to the late 1970s. Fellow babies, the WKRP-Cast is on the air...grab your brains and don't miss it!! (This is gonna be a blast!!)[Want to watch along with us? Sure you do!! We highly recommend the 'Shout Factory' boxed DVD set of the entire WKRP series. For reasons you'll have to listen to in the "Prolog" episode, all streaming versions of the original "WKRP in Cincinnati" have had many of the original music cues removed. Generic music beds and stings were used in place of the original music for the syndicated version of the series. 'Shout Factory' has been able to restore an estimated 85% of all WKRP music cues to the original "as-aired" content for their DVD release. They've meticulously restored what quality there was from the original videotape. They've also restored scenes that had been cut to shorten episodes for syndication. The original eps ran 25 minutes. The syndication eps were shortened to 22 minutes. Over the course of 88 episodes (90 in syndication, 2-1 hour eps were broken up) that's more than four hours of lost content, including some cool stuff, like the performance by "Detective" at the end of "Hoodlum Rock." | 11/25/25 | ![]() RERUN-WKRPCast-EXTRA01-Bill Dial "Turkeys Away" Outline | [This Podcast is a RERUN of previously released material. Enjoy this Encore Presentation!]WELCOME BACK!Hey, Fellow Babies! Prepare yourselves for something COMPLETELY different! We're on a holiday break but we didn't want to leave you hanging for a full two weeks. So, we decided to do a little something "extra"...which is why we're calling this a "WKRP-Cast Extra"!! Huge thanks to Casey Piotrowski, writer of "Contest Nobody Could Win" for sharing the outline with us. Casey said they were handed out during a new writer's meeting in the fall of 1978. The "Turkeys Away" outline served as an example..."do it like this." Turns out, the 'outline' is actually a narrative description of the episode, complete with character lines and everything! When we first read through it, we thought, "this is kinda cool...you can sorta see the episode in there...". We decided a good way to share it with you would be to read it...word-for-word, start to finish. A lot easier to digest than a downloadable PDF, but if you want a downloadable PDF of the script in case you want to follow along, here's that, too:https://1drv.ms/b/s!Avq586TFhfXtgtIza9xg6EUNn0_yvQ?e=9oRgs2(if it's not showing as a hot link, copy and paste into a browser address bar.)WATCH ALONG DETAILS...[Want to watch along with us? | 7/9/24 | ![]() S4E22 - "The Impossible Dream" | Send a note to Allen & Donna…WELCOME BACK!!This is it, Fellow Babies. Welcome to the FINAL network first-run airing of WKRP. This episode, "The Impossible Dream" had been shelved by the network in the spring of 1982. Now, with a breakout hit on their hands, the network decided to play this never-before-seen episode well into the fall season...the season AFTER WKRP had been cancelled. It's Les's birthday. The passing of another year has spurred the News Beacon of the Ohio Valley to strive for more in his career. That, and his mother is in town. Les suddenly starts pulling awards off the wall and announces he's headed to New York to take Dan Rather's news-chair. Jennifer reacts to the birthday and mother-visit news with the same answer: Party Time! She plans a surprise birthday party for Les. For some reason, the guest of honor shows up way early. He's there before any of the other guests! He arrives without his mother and tells Jennifer he hates it for anyone to know about his birthday.Ms. Marlowe could not be having a worse day. Triple vodkas all around!!At the party, Les debuts his on-camera demo tape. It's beyond bad. Les realizes he's made a fool of himself and runs out. Will Les go to New York? Will we meet Les's mother? Will we shudder just a little bit at the overwhelming cringiness of the final three minutes? Spoilers!! The answers would be: no, yes and yes. Let's join Lester in tilting at some windmills during this FINAL WKRP episode!! Moo-goo, anyone??WATCH ALONG DETAILS...[Want to watch along with us? It's a blast!!
