You step outside of your daily routine, experience different values, eat different foods, and make new friends. But such experiences also help you to realize some of the pitfalls of your own society. One of my favorite places to live and work is the Caribbean. People seem much less stressed. They have a much slower pace of life and never seem to worry much about getting things accomplished right now. In fact, one of their favorite mottos is “rush slowly.” While such a lifestyle may not be for everyone, I do think we can learn a lot or at least gain a new perspective from such a lifestyle.
