| 5/22/25 | ![]() Healing Your Mother Wound with Monika Carless | On this podcast, we are connecting with guest speaker Monika Carless, Hay House author of Transforming the Mother Wound, and learning about the Mother Wound, spoiler alert* it is NOT just about our biological mothers. We explore many ways a ‘mother wound’ can show up in our lives, weaving in the systems we belong to that inform our worldviews, and we link these theme to some of the notions foundational in Internal Family Systems theory. This episode offers a lens into some of the practices that have grounded me and reconnected me to spirit in a way I didn’t think possible since moving away from Catholicism. It is not one to miss!! | 9/28/21 | ![]() Queerness in the Brown Community | In this episode, I (Diviya) am the therapist to a queer Brown client who wants to be known as Khadija (she/they). They reflect on coming out to their caregiver and we explore the parts of them that are emerging now. Coming out is a complex layered process and it has taken Khadija a LOT of inner work to get to the place she is now. As you listen to the session, notice what shows up in your experience, with curiosity, and allow yourself space to listen to your needs during the process. If you find yourself overwhelmed, please turn off the recording. cw* coming out, processing anger towards caregivers, being ostracized, intersectionality Note* Before I asked anyone else to be in the hot seat and put themselves out there to be recorded, I wanted to lead by example. It can be vulnerable to record oneself, so I invite you to be kind in any feedback/thoughts you share. This recording is reflective of what an IFS session might look/sound like, but is not prescriptive in any way. For more information on IFS, check out episode #1 where I introduce my understanding of the model. I also need to preface this by stating I am not an expert therapist, nor an expert in IFS. It is simply a modality that has changed my life, resonates with me so much, and I find super supportive for my clients. I am a lifelong learner, and my hope is you find one small thing that resonates that you can take/hold/integrate in your own way. | 5/5/21 | ![]() Brown Girls Don't Do Therapy Trailer | Welcome listeners, This is a short trailer/introduction to the podcast, and why it is important to me to create a resource like this. In this podcast, guest therapists use internal family systems (IFS) therapy or 'parts work' to support Black Indigenous and People of colour (or BIPOC) guest clients on real issues they’re facing. I'll also be sharing IFS meditations, psychoeducation about psychotherapy and parts work (from my understanding so far), and try to bring on various guest therapists as we go along, and continue to amplify BIPOC voices in the IFS community, and psychotherapy community as a whole.
