Today we’re going into the world of high-gain history with a man who helped shape the sound of an era.. He’s the mind behind some of the most iconic guitar amps of the 70’s '80s and '90s — from hot-rodded Marshalls to his own Metaltronix beasts. He’s worked with players like Steve Vai and George Lynch, and he’s never stopped pushing the envelope when it comes to tone and innovation. Today, we’re sitting down with the one and only Lee Jackson — amp designer, builder, and certified tone legend. Whether you know him from his custom mods or his original creations, this is a conversation you won't want to miss. Amps with Brian Zircon | Frank Levi worked with the whose who of Rock and chances are you’ve heard his amps on your favourite albums or tours. Of course, no story about Frank is complete without mentioning the famous Marshall S.I.R. rental amps—the mystery machines that fueled some of the greatest recordings and tours of the ‘80s and ‘90s. For years, fans and players alike have debated: who actually modded what and what models were used on GnR's Appetite for Destruction. Today, we’ll go straight to the source and dive into the history around numbers 34, 36 and the missing 39. Backed up by Franks own S.I.R paperwork and schematics. Joining me is Brian Zircon, Frank’s apprentice who has been entrusted to continue the legacy of his work and offer his personal insight to Franks history. Brian has also been working with remaining members of the Doors and shares some information around the Hammond organs used by the band. He’s a manager, producer, storyteller — and now, for the first time — an author. Alan Niven has just released his debut book, Sound and Furry, and it’s every bit as sharp, honest, and compelling as you would expect.
