About this episode
The episode investigates La Luz del Mundo, exploring its origins, structure, and the psychological grip it has on its members.
In this episode, Jeremiah Roberts and Andrew “Super Sleuth” Soncrant kick off a two-part investigation into La Luz del Mundo (“Light of the World”)—one of the largest, most influential high-control religious movements most English audiences have barely heard of. Joined by researcher and author Luis Carlos Reyes, the team traces La Luz del Mundo’s roots through early Oneness Pentecostal streams, prophetic offshoots, and the formation of its apostle-centered system—where loyalty to a “living apostle” becomes the gate to salvation. Luis shares firsthand experiences from inside the movement’s stronghold, explains how authority is enforced through control and intimidation, and unpacks the doctrine of “election” that elevates the apostle above Scripture and beyond accountability. Along the way, they explore the movement’s communal structure, alleged corruption, and the chilling psychological grip that keeps members trapped—often even in the face of abuse.
