Hillbilly Nerd Talk

People drive stupidly. It angers me. So I take a pill for that. It isn’t safe to road rage right now. Is it just human nature to forget the bad parts of the past so we can keep having little snot goblins? It must, or we’d be extinct. I cut parents a lot of slack. I can’t relate. But they are all struggling to get their kids noses out of the iPad. Our little guy will do ANYTHING to get back on for another hour. That’s addiction. I bought the last Hellfire Club Stranger Things Dungeons and Dragons box set. We’re going to see if we can pry his nose out for a few hours. He seems interested, and I’d love to Dungeon Master again. I can’t imagine trying to date right now. The expectations being set on ticktock are huge red flags for narcissism. The chasm between young men and young women has to close eventually, right? There have been jokes in media about saving the spotted owl for as long as I can remember. Culling hundreds of thousands of barred owls because they compete better, using shotguns at a time of day when they’re most vulnerable, isn’t the good guy environmentalist move they seem to think it is. Let evolution work.

It’s been a bad week for the National Guard. One of theirs was arrested for leaking secrets to his gamer buddies. Another was arrested for applying to be a hitman. I don’t remember ever hearing about problems like these. Introducing a new segment: Petra’s funny trauma stories. This one is about Tupperware. I’m healing by telling stories from my childhood I can’t tell anywhere else. Healing through comedy. USA has been trigger happy as hell lately, and a prankster seeking viral fame found it when he got shot. A new memoir is coming out about John Lennon’s Lost Weekend. And we’ve started watching Succession. What a wild show!

Banking is rigged. Read everything before you sign it. It’s been so dreary, dark, and cold here. It’s called Blue Monday because of the weather, post holiday debt, and failed resolutions. The news is unwatchable. Some folks did a study about teenagers seeing porn. It sounds more like some folks found out which teens lie. We have way too many young gals driving luxury cars, and Hank’s figured out maybe why. The Menu was great, and we’re enjoying the Ann Rice Immortal Universe shows.

This show is in memory of Chairman Meow. I’m scared I’ll never love any animal as much as I loved that mean grey cat. There is a kitty shaped hole in my heart. I’ve been loving television lately, and picking the shows. We both liked The Sandman. Hank liked The Boys until the end, and I think he’s only putting up with House of the Dragon because I’m utterly obsessed. We’ve enjoyed some ambient music from YouTube. The floating astronaut is amazing. It’s devolved into “floaty spaceman” here. NASA says not to worry, but they’re trying to change the trajectory of an astroid. So don’t look up but there’s a Double Astroid Redirecting Test going on. Hank is a big history reader, and he’s reading Hunter S. Thompson’s articles written during the Nixon era. It’s good to know that things have been this crazy before.

Will Smith had time to consider that slap. It totally overshadowed his win (and Samual L Jackson’s too.) Jada used the look on him. Red Hot Chili Peppers are auditory garbage, the Ron Burgundy of rock. And you can’t escape them. They’re putting out new crap. I wasn’t allowed to watch Momma’s Family growing up. Figured out why. I binged Seven Year Switch. And we’re enjoying the Righteous Gemstones and Winning Time. And Mr. Skin is a creepy concept.

I’ve found a breed of cat that matches Chairman Meow’s description exactly. Their name, Nebelung means creature of the mist. It tears me up to think of losing her, so of course I’m stalking one. I’d much rather find a “street kitty” but the personality is exactly my little grey shadows. We spent New Year’s Eve with our Fancy Friends, and enjoyed the hospitality of a real hearth goddess type. We even had an edible glitter champagne midnight toast. Glitter poop? Things have really changed in our lives and in our culture from the original airing of Sex in the City and today’s Just Like That. We talk about how Hank watched it as it aired, relating to the characters and being the same age. I didn’t begin watching it until about a decade ago. Some of it had already aged badly, and I didn’t have the same lasting nostalgic love for SITC that I keep for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I watched that when it was both breaking grounds in TV and reflecting the culture of the time. Yea, it’s problematic now. Things have changed. And Just Like That is different than SITC. Thank Gawd. And bless them for tackling the trans issue where no one else dare tread. I can’t wait to see where this story goes. I’m fully invested and even loving the fashion. Hank is still reeling from the first episode’s ending. I got a Halo View. We discus Amazon and ethics my erratic sleep, and getting a booster. One of us got it.

I’ve been binge listening to the Belief it or Not Podcast. It’s reassuring to hear that other people also grew up in a cult and got out. Hank had two young fellas painting a fence. He let them make their own mistakes. Never Gonna Give You Up has hit over a billion views. Free Guy is a shockingly good movie. See it. And we’ve had it with our unvaccinated neighbors. Our state is getting decimated by COVID because nobody can tell them what to do.
