I Need You Guys

The hilarious Pete Holmes (Crashing, You Made It Weird) joins us today to discuss unkind thoughts about a man’s foot, encountering Paul Rudd after stroller combat, and to offer a caller some advice about getting the lyrics wrong. Plus, what’s an appropriate gift for a boo mitzvah, and Jenny has a simple opening question about high school: “Were you guys tryin’ to grind?”

The secret ingredient in this week’s hosts-only episode is love! Jenny finds out that shackets are like jeggings for boys, Gabe explains why you should measure twice to cut once, and Max gets us excited for two Pennsylvania-set movies coming soon (though we’re disappointed by the lack of scrapple). We talk about high school reunions, regrets, and surprise hookups, and Nick puts his detective skills to use to help a caller whose upstairs neighbor has a strange post-sex ritual. Plus: Jenny learns that “making a donation” has a different meaning in outer space.

Paula Pell (The Burbs, Girls5Eva) is drinking iced coffee out of a Tab glass with a waistline! She tells us what it’s like to return to acting after a legendary writing career, then helps a caller with sweat issues, and we debate whether her dog looks more like Gizmo from Gremlins or a steering wheel. Plus: we’re still not sure how Jenny’s dad injured himself in a very sensitive place.

Michelle Collins (The Michelle Collins Show, On The Box) sadly doesn’t revive her one-woman performance of Les Misérables for us! But she does share the shocking thing people would yell at her in Amsterdam, reminisces on her college days with Jenny and Gabe, and helps us with a caller who thinks his friends are talking about him behind his back. Plus: Max used to be Wiccan?

No guest, it’s just the three of us this week! (Sorry, Keira Knightley, maybe next time.) Jenny guesses what the movie Saw is about, before Max relives the very real horror of a birthday dinner that went terribly wrong. Then we help our first ever preteen caller prepare for middle school. He tells us about the secret history of Easter and gives sincerely good advice to a cat-loving single dad getting back to dating, and in return, we teach him what gooning means.
