Whether they are playing it straight note-for-note or whether they are re-interpreting it, bands love to pay tribute to the hits they love! In this episode, we showcase a summer playlist made for all of your grilling, pool party, block party, yard work, camping, and hot weather needs!

This week, half of us are at the beach enjoying some r n’ r, so we thought we’d listen to some r n’ r with a beachy vibe. We are pulling the plug… and gasping for air… guitars! Rock artists have been playing acoustic since the very beginning. In fact, most songwriters start the process with an acoustic instrument. There’s something about capturing the sound of a song on just wire and wood that has a vulnerable, human feel to it. Dig your toes into the sand, breathe in the salt air, and enjoy these tunes with a frosty beverage.

Meet Captain Content & Kevin in the pit again this week for a hella good time! We’re getting our aggressions out by revisiting the starting point of it all for Kevin. The thrash, crossover, speed metal movement of the 80s spawned his love of all things rock n’ punk n’ metal. This time around the circle pit, we are focusing on Crossover Thrash. A sub-genre defined as short bursts of hardcore punk with metal guitar riffing. This was perfect skateboarding music, which intertwined with the Sk8 subculture in the 80s and 90s. Hope ya have a slammin’ good time with this one!

This week the people demanded it, and we complied! Therefore, we give you “Grave Mistake: ZEBRA Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. This is our celebration of an amazing power trio from New Orleans / Long Island that has been largely forgotten in the pantheon of rock n’ roll. They also happen to be very musically proficient, with a bona fide guitar god in the band that rarely gets the praise he deserves!

This week, we take you to church and exorcise some demons by testifying to the New Wave Of Classic Rock! Listen in as we cleanse your soul with classic, blues-influenced hard rock that reminds us of the days when FM radio rocked! Robert called the newer bands out on a recent episode, and indeed, rock n’ roll is not dead. It is in the very capable hands of these killer younger bands!

This week, we’re talking about a guy? What guy? EDGUY of course! Another edition of our “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!” from a band we covered on our last power metal episode late last year. A band that Kevin affectionately calls “Helloween Jr.”, this is another German powerhouse power metal juggernaut that is unique to the genre. They are epic and powerful! A band that is anthemic, dramatic, uplifting, and rallying, with a sense of humor as well!

In this week’s episode, we dust off our iPods and XM boomboxes to travel back to the decade where many claimed that rock n’ roll was dead and that there was no more good music. That’s right; we are listening to obscure tracks from George W.’s Y2K! Join us on this journey back through the decade of iTunes, MySpace, autotune, and some really great rock n’ punk n’ metal!

This week, journey back to the years 1986 and 87. When a young Kevin scraped and bruised his knees, elbows, shins, and wrists constantly. Yes, the years of skateboarding and the discovery of a particular brand of punk and hardcore called: Skate Rock! Discover the sounds that inspired him to start a band and the alternative counterculture movement that would shape the rest of his life.
