| 9/14/25 | ![]() Overcoming Addiction through Bowen Technique with Kathryn Hamer | Hi everyone, todays interview has got to be one of the most powerful and moving stories I've heard regarding Bowen Technique.Today we are speaking with College of Bowen tutor and Mindfulness teacher Kathryn Hamer. Kathryn shares her incredible story of how she started to have Bowen from her mum, also a Bowen practitioner, for the advanced carpal tunnel syndrome she had, having been told that surgery was her only option and she'd never work with her hands. Not only did the Bowen clear the carpal tunnel syndrome, but for the first time in years, it gave Kathryn peace from the harrowing drug addiction she had and began her process of recovery. This is such a beautiful story, shared so openly for us to show how much Bowen can create changes in spaces that we wouldn't imagine. Kathryn is now a passionate advocate for Bowen Technique and her story just shows us how much can be accomplished with this amazing tool. We hope you enjoy this interview with it's raw vulnerability about such a difficult topic. If you would like to know more about Kathryn, connect with her and her work, you can find more about her here:https://www.blackburnbowentherapy.com/https://www.instagram.com/blackburnbowentherapy/ https://www.facebook.com/blackburnbowentherapyThe 180 project that Kathryn mentions can be found herehttps://www.180project.co.uk/Physiology First who I mention can be found here https://physiologyfirst.org/If you would like to learn more about the work of the BTPA, your local practitioner, where to train in the UK and much more (remember students have FREE membership), then check out our website and socials at:https://www.bowentherapy.org.uk/https://www.facebook.com/BowenBTPAhttps://www.instagram.com/bowenbtpa/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/integral-health-with-ben-calder--3335603/support. | 53m 05s | ||||||

| 7/28/25 | ![]() Bringing Bowen Technique to the Highlands and Islands with Annie Hall | I am really excited to bring you another great interview in our series of discussions with Bowen Teachers from around the world, today we bring you this really interesting discussion with College of Bowen Studies Introduction Course Tutor Annie Hall. Annie's story is unique in that she lives on a fairly small island off the coast of Scotland UK, the Isle of Mull. She moved there to support her father and raise her children and developed for herself a very successful massage business, doing a lot of care for the over 65's and getting a lot of referrals from the local GPs. She moved back down to England and became a care home manager and was delivering a lot of training on health and social care before moving back to Mull and training in Bowen in 2021 with CBS. Since then she has not only made a thriving business, but is passionate about bringing Bowen to the more remote parts of Scotland where there is little provision for the technique.Annie sees the Introduction courses as a great way to get the community ot help themselves and we talk a lot about how island life has changed over the last 30 years and how much more dependent on tourism they are. This means that many people, especially women, are depending on seasonal work, and Annie sees this as a chance to expand the employment opportunities as well as the health of the islanders. She has also been invited by local high schools to share Bowen with the students and will be working with the University of the Highlands and Islands to deliver the Introduction to Bowen courses. This is such a great story of the value of Bowen Technique in rural communities, we hope you all enjoy listening to this interview as much as Ben did in recoding it.If you want to learn more about Annie and her work, you can contact her via the CBS Tutors page https://www.collegeofbowenstudies.co.uk/about/the-trainers/If you would like to learn more about the work of the BTPA, your local practitioner, where to train in the UK and much more, then check out our website and socials at: https://www.bowentherapy.org.uk/https://www.facebook.com/BowenBTPAhttps://www.instagram.com/bowenbtpa/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/integral-health-with-ben-calder--3335603/support. | 1h 03m 05s | ||||||
| 7/14/25 | ![]() The Neurological Approach to Bowen - Interview with Jun Chow | Welcome to the next of our exciting interviews with Bowen Teachers from around the world.Today I have a great interview with Bowen College UK teacher Jun Chow to look as his CPD workshop the Neurological Approach to Bowen.Jun takes us through his history, starting with his degree in Animal Science and his ideas of working with horses and how that led to training in Bowen (without having had a session himself at that time!)We explore how he became interested in the neurological aspects of Bowen and why he feels muscle testing is an essential skill to add to your Bowen practice, with a couple of simple tools offered as examples of what you can learn with him.Plus we get the news that there is a part 2 and possibly a part 3 to the Neurological Assessment and Tools CPD that Jun will be offering. We also take some time to discuss the support community that Jun offers for any Bowen practitioner, regardless of who they trained with on WhatsApp and his plans for a hold-your-hand type business guide to help new practitioners (and us old dogs who are open to new tricks) get a handle on the business of Bowen. It was so enjoyable to speak to such an enthusiastic up and coming teacher in the wonderful world of Bowen, we hope you enjoy the interview as much as we did making it.If you want to connect with Jun and his work, you can find out more here: https://hesteyripainsolutions.co.uk/aboutjunhttps://hesteyripainsolutions.co.uk/aboutjun https://www.collegeofbowenstudies.co.uk/news/neurological-jun/ https://www.collegeofbowenstudies.co.uk/cpd-courses/neurological-assessments-part-1/ https://www.collegeofbowenstudies.co.uk/about/the-trainers/ https://www.facebook.com/HesteyriPainSolutionshttps://www.instagram.com/hesteyripainsolutions/If you would like to learn more about the work of the BTPA, your local practitioner, where to train in the UK and much more, then check out our website and socials at: https://www.bowentherapy.org.uk/https://www.facebook.com/BowenBTPAhttps://www.instagram.com/bowenbtpa/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/integral-health-with-ben-calder--3335603/support. | 1h 07m 05s | ||||||
| 6/30/25 | ![]() Interview with Bigger Than Pain's David McGettigan | Hey everyone, great to see you again.I have another very interesting video for you, with pain and movement specialist and founder of the Bigger than Pain program, David McGettigan.David has a really interesting history of trying to solve the chronic pain issues he developed in his teens, which led him to a degree in sports rehabilitation, which, disappointingly, did not help him solve his issues. He then trained in the Anatomy in Motion work of Gary Ward and Jose Palomar's P-DTR, which has had an influence on the muscle testing that is coming through more and more in Bowen technique (see our recent interview with Jun Chow of CBS and last year's interview with Paul Esson).David has taken his knowledge and experience to develop his specialised online program, "Bigger Than Pain." This personalised system helps people understand their own pain journey and narrative, with a detailed recovery tool kit, community support, and guidance from the man himself.David has also authored several great articles on his Substack account and has over 280 videos on his YouTube channel. This was a really interesting interview and gives us a really good view in what is beyond just the physical treatment of pain, plus great access to some amazing resources for our clients (including the great free e-book on pain). If you would like to know more about David and connect deeper with his work, you can find more about him here: https://davidmcgettiganclinic.com/https://davidmcgettiganclinic.com/free-pain-ebook/ https://www.instagram.com/painandmovementspecialist/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/painandmovementspecialist/ https://www.facebook.com/PainandMovementSpecialist/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC-TY3Pg5MRZZm4BgKMMhMg https://biggerthanpain.substack.com/If you would like to learn more about the work of the BTPA, your local practitioner, where to train in the UK and much more, then check out our website and socials at: https://www.bowentherapy.org.uk/https://www.facebook.com/BowenBTPAhttps://www.instagram.com/bowenbtpa/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/integral-health-with-ben-calder--3335603/support. | 1h 12m 32s | ||||||

If we’ve got a body and behavior component, do we need to do something with that? And that might have included diet and nutrition.Ben Calder You know, I see quite a number of people in their 60s and 70s. And almost the number one thing that they will tell me is that the doctor has told them that they can expect it because of their age. And at that point, I want to slap that doctor and just say, No, that’s not true. Ben Calder You know, give yourself a decade to master a level of Qigong, and it’s not a quick fix, and you may not even feel it in the first 2,3,4 sessions. You know, the Chinese would traditionally say 100 days of practice to start feeling your chi and then the rest of your life to master it.ABOUT MANON BOLLIGER, FCAH, RBHTAs a recently De-Registered board-certified naturopathic physician & in practice since 1992, she has seen an average of 150 patients per week and have helped people ranging from rural farmers in Nova Scotia to stressed out CEOs in Toronto to tri-athletes here in Vancouver. Her resolve to educate, empower and engage people to take charge of their own health is evident in her best-selling books: ‘What Patients Don’t Say if Doctors Don’t Ask: The Mindful Patient-Doctor Relationship’ and‘A Healer in Every Household: Simple Solutions for Stress’.
