Joseph and Summer McStay, along with their two young sons, mysteriously vanished from their Fallbrook, California home, leaving behind uneaten food and their family pets. Their fate remained a complete mystery until late 2013, when a motorcyclist discovered their remains bludgeoned and buried in shallow graves in the Mojave Desert. Joseph's former business partner, Charles "Chase" Merritt, was eventually arrested, convicted of the murders tied to financial greed, and sentenced to death.
