| 6/22/26 | ![]() Jess our dietician friend - weight loss, food noise, perimenopause, cycles, hormones + MORE. | We've got company! Today, we're joined by dietician Jess from Relish Nutrition, for what we think is a fun and interesting conversation that goes beyond calories and diets. Jess shares her journey into dietetics, from life as an ex-professional netballer to becoming a leading voice in the world of nutrition. We start by chatting about growing up as a tall girl and the challenges that came with feeling different. Leece then kicks the questioning off with a personal experience between her and her eldest child that takes us right into the very complex world of body image, weight loss, and helping young people build healthy relationships with food. We also chat through what it's like supporting young athletes and their parents day to day, why so many of us as a society are struggling with our weight, the concept of 'food noise' and the power of food, perimenopause, hormones, and why weight can suddenly feel harder to manage, practical nutrition tools like anchor meals, base plates, and Jess's 'fuel, build, focus protect' framework, how our menstrual cycle impacts our nutrition needs and simple ways to adjust our food throughout the month. There's a lot packed into this one - plenty of practical advice and compassionate insights. Whether you're navigating your own health journey, raising active kids, or trying to understand the ever-changing needs of your body through our many life stages, there's something in this chat for everyone. A big thanks to Jess for her time and expertise - loved it (various links and resources below). website: https://www.relishnutrition.co.nz/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/relishnutritionnz/ relish nutrition base plate builder: find the link in episode notes for this resource young athlete fuel kit: https://www.instagram.com/p/DWm1kf5kv1a/?img_index=1 | — | ||||||
| 6/15/26 | ![]() A Monday purge | The big question is - are we the only ones up in arms about an airplane? How do they work? Who invented them? And why don't people get off in the orderly fashion anymore? DO YOU? Or are you one of those people who don't wait for the rows in front of you? Send us your thoughts - we promise not to judge (!). It's been a hot minute since we've hit this podcast so a big thank you for your patience and understanding in our absence. We don't ever want to leave the pod in the lurch and do our utmost not to - so thank you for being patient with us about the unexpected hiatus. We're back just scraping the surface on what has been an eventful few weeks for the both of us. We've had the best time together in both Wellington and Christchurch, and the time has been made even more special with extra family members and close friends thrown in the mixer. We talk about airplanes, kids, tantrums, kid sport, kids and phones and a big old NZ trip recap from start to finish. Lots in the mix of it all and hope you enjoy the catch up and relate to some of our Monday musings. See you soon! | 6/8/26 | ![]() From the archives - sis'n'law Sarah on infertility & infant loss. | Today we feel so grateful to our other sister in law, Sarah, for very bravely sharing her journey with infant loss and miscarriage. We must preface this podcast to alert you of the fact this conversation may be triggering for some of our audience, as Sarah very courageously opens up about her experience to date; as mother of Stanley, earth side, and sweet Sophia, who flies high up amongst the stars. Sarah is passionate about speaking up and normalising these difficult conversations. We thank you so much sissy, for sharing this with us as well as our listeners. Please remember to be kind, and please remember if you need help, there are many pathways to help available. From our respective wardrobes to you, our dear listener, with love. | 6/1/26 | ![]() A big sissy D&M (Char included) | HELLO! Thank you for your patience in regards to our unexpected week off last week. Thank you, too, for your support and encouragement to the previous week of podcasts - the waffle-pod Monday, our podcast with Fee and our second book club rendezvous with Hobbsy. It's so fun to hear from you about each episode and we look forward to your feedback week on week! Today is an exciting day because, as luck would have it (or rather it being King's birthday) we have Char in to join us aboard the sister debrief. We begin with Char telling us a bit about her new and very exciting job - naturally we talk a bit about the challenging few years she's had and how things have generally been for her. Her appreciation for how difficult a redundancy can be and everything that comes with that, for one. We then recap the Kiwi Yarns podcast show in Auckland with Brodie Kane, which *then* leads on to one big conversation around the sister dynamic, fomo, and all sorts of complicated and complex feelings between the three of us. We take a segue - as per usual - to life with phones, trying to look up and the reality of life now in this tech-world. All topped off with the sparkle spreader and, despite some challenging times, there's a lot to be grateful for. Like you guys - a big thank you, to all of you for listening. | 5/22/26 | ![]() Sparkle Pod Book Club Ep 2 | In our second episode of the Sparkle Pod Book Club, we settle into the rhythm of our reading lives with a relaxed, smut-reference-filled catch-up on all things books and more. We do our best today to follow some structure - just look at us go! We kick things off by sharing what we’ve just finished reading - the stories that stayed with us - or didn't - and surprised us. From there, we move into what we’re currently reading, unpacking where we’re at alongside current musings, how these books are making us feel, and whether we’re loving them enough to stay committed or already eyeballing what's next (*it's me, hi). As per standard sparkle pod programming, the conversation naturally drifts into the kind of mindless waffle you expect - the bits that make these chats feel like a catch-up with your gal pals. From being extroverted in the shower to burying ourselves in smut - why we might be drawn to it, what it gives us as readers, and whether it has any impact on our real-life relationships and expectations. We wrap up the episode by answering some Qs from our community, covering everything from best book of all time (a hard one) to living vicariously through the characters. Hope you enjoy! PS: look out for the content we put on our social media that will allow us to have a bit more 1:1 chat about this conversation with you! Here are our books - Sarah - Just finished - Strangers: A memoir of marriage, by Belle Burdon What she's currently reading - Yesteryear, by Caro Claire Burke TBR (to be read) - either, A deaf in the family, by Pete Majendie Lisa - Just finished - Mr Masters and Mr Spencer, both by TL Swann Currently reading - The Garcia (third in series), TL Swann TBR - Broken Country, by Claire Leslie Hall (or more TL Swann hehe) Jess - Just finished - Yesteryear, by Caro Claire Burke Currently reading - The Names, by Frances Knapp TBR - Wifedom: Mrs Orwell's Invisible Life, by Anna Funder To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here | — | ||||||
| 5/19/26 | ![]() Shine On Founder Fee Kirkpatrick - business, cancer + more | (TW: cancer and grief) Hello! We're super excited to be back here for a very beautiful bonus episode this week. Today, we had the privilege of sitting down with Fee Kirkpatrick for an honest, grounding, and powerful chat. As Dan fell sick in 2024, we were introduced to Fee by a member of our community - and thank goodness we were. As Leece explains in her introduction, she has given so much of her time and energy to us over the last few years. Fee generously shares her story as a mum to two boys and wife to Gene, and takes us inside the journey of building fashion business Shine On from the ground up - what it really took, what it demanded, and the parts of herself she had to grow into along the way. We then talk about the day husband Gene was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and how life instantly split into “before” and “after.” Fee opens up about life as a carer, the weight of holding it all together, and the unexpected lessons that come when you’re forced to live in the most present, raw version of yourself. There are parallels in Fee’s journey and Leece’s, and both Fee and Leece reflect on connection, hope, resilience, and what it means to keep showing up when life doesn’t look anything like you planned. We also dive a little into the quiet but powerful shifts - learning who your true friends are, what really matters, what gets stripped away, and what somehow becomes even more precious. This is a conversation about grief and grace, ambition and perspective, loss and love - and the ongoing work of rebuilding a life while still living inside it. Thank you Fee, for showing up as you did today - we are so grateful. | — | ||||||
| 5/18/26 | ![]() Weekend story time: Six60, old flames, school camp | Sometimes when it gets to Monday mornings we think, 'hmm, what on earth do we have to talk about today'? Well, as it turns out, quite a bit. It was an eventful weekend in more ways than one and we have a lot of shit to say and questions to ask. When we ask these questions and seek your input we really mean it (lol) - we'd LOVE to hear from you. We see your comments, we love your DMs and we really appreciate your feedback every week. In todays waffle pod we go from Apex and Peter Andre to a school camp rundown, the Six60 + Synthony synopsis, drinking/alcohol, endless washing, weekend sport, love being a choice, a DRAMATIC Sunday story share (please send us any of your own stories!) and botox. Big topics - as per. Love you guys - thanks for listening to our expert quality banter (?) xx To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here | — | ||||||
| 5/11/26 | ![]() Mother's Day sum up (+ undertone of Mondayitis) | Hello hello - back for another Monday and is it just me or are we flat? Perhaps just that - flat. We start the episode off by focusing far too much on our looks - a recent fascination with our hooding eyelids and the GP prescribed cream, Tretinoin (talk to your GP!) to blame. From there we're into the full synopsis of the week that was. From hooded eyelids to a trip to the cinema for the Devil Wears Prada 2 (spoiler alert), what Mother's Day entailed - both the positive and the negatives including some solid sock game for LJ - woes and worries about the future, washing hacks and more. It feels a little like we started off with a bit of spunk and end in a bit of a funk but hey, we know you've come to expect a ride. Love you for being here. THANK YOU! (we nearly didn't post this episode worried it isn't worth your time at all but we thought, this is just us today and so out we go). | 5/4/26 | ![]() In short: MUM WIFE LIFE. | All things mum life - feeling flat for no rhyme or reason, piles of washing that never end, new jobs, kids sport, marriage, health is wealth, alcohol and more. We came to the mic in a bit of a mood this Monday morning and end with one of us a little more on the up and the other a little less so. We'll now take a moment to zoom out and remind ourselves that underneath the chaos, the overwhelm, and the Monday moods, there’s a lot to be grateful for. A couch full of folded washing means full lives, the busy weekends mean people we love, and even on the flat days, there are still some magical micro moments if we look carefully. This is your gentle nudge that it’s okay to feel both stretched and thankful - and that appreciating your life doesn’t mean it has to feel easy all the time. | 4/28/26 | ![]() Connection, app stuff, mental health, weekend summaries | This week - as per - we’re diving into all sorts of stuff - community, the app, mental health, family and chaos, weekends of sport, and talking about the things that keep us grounded - particularly Leece and her commitment to doing things that help keep her well and feeling good. At first we chat quite a bit about the Move it Mama app, the connection some of us have been missing since the Spread the Sparkle Facebook days, and why that sense of community matters to us so much. We also get into the importance of moving your body, protecting your mental health, and carving out time for the habits that help you feel good - even when life is FULL and HARD. We know it's hard to do but we need to make a commitment to ourselves. Lots on the waffle agenda today and great to be together to dissect life's current ebbs and flows! | 4/23/26 | ![]() Sparkle Pod Book Club Ep 1 | Welcome to the very first episode of Sparkle Pod Book Club - a cosy new corner of the podcast where books, banter, and plenty of tangents collide. In this pilot episode, we kick things off with a relaxed chat all about our reading lives - what we're currently reading, how and when we fit reading into busy life, questioning unspoken reading etiquette, our recent favourite books, and what’s on the wish list for future reads. We're all over the shop today spitting out a LOT of info and a fair few books. In future episodes, we'll take to a little more structure for our book chats (if you know us at all, you're wise to believe STRUCTURE might not happen). Thanks for listening! Below is a list of the books we discussed today - Hobbsy - Liz Nugent, Strange Sally Diamond (she's in the middle of it - she gives a decent synopsis without spoilers) Leece - TL Swan, The Miles High series (finishing the fifth book of the series - no spoilers) Jess - all books she had been recommended by Hobbs! Current read: Everyone Here is Lying by Shari Lapena, and recent reads: The Vanishing Place by Zoe Rankin, Broken Country by Claire Leslie Hall and What Have You Done, also by Shari Lapena Up next: The Names, by Florence Knapp. This is not a formal book club - it’s light-hearted, honest, a little bit chaotic, and full of the kind of conversation that feels like chatting books with friends over coffee. Whether you're a die-hard reader, a casual page-turner, or just here for a LOL, take this as your invite to join the club. | 4/21/26 | ![]() Debrief - lunch boxes and botox | BACKTOSCHOOOOOLLLLL! Hello! It feels like FOREVER. As we point out at the start of the episode, we currently have 20% off our annual plan to the app - just use the code BACKTOSCHOOL at checkout on the web app (app.moveitmama.co.nz). Now that aside, welcome back to the sparkly pod. We're so happy to be here - relishing in our own company with our microphones waffling over A WIDE VARIETY of quality rubbish! We dissect the last few weeks - school holidays, Leece's family weekend away and everything that encompassed, the constant manage of phones and screen time, lunch boxes upon lunch boxes and botox upon botox!!! For real though we talk a lot about wrinkles and the stupid stuff we're being influenced to do - like sip out of our water bottles without sucking the straw too hard lol lol. It's good to be back. | 4/6/26 | ![]() HANmer Springs, educating on Easter, men & their emotions, life being hard | Hello! Coming to you LIVE and proper from the wardrobe seeking some privacy on this Easter Monday afternoon. A heads up that as Leece wasn't in the office today she is without a mic - we figured we're good enough to go. We recap the last few days and what lies ahead - the typical big topics sat at the forefront of our minds, such as naming a place if we were to 'found it' - Thomas 'Hanmer' doesn't roll of the tongue like it should. We briefly bypass the political state of the world, as well as the meaning of Easter - don't worry, we don't hang around there long lol. Though we would make mention that despite our differences we can STILL BE FRIENDS can't we. The world is a tough place for many at the moment, and Leece finishes with some thoughts off the back of a podcast with Mel Robbins - we'll link it below. It sounds to be highly worth listening to. | 3/30/26 | ![]() School lunch orders, hot cross buns, phones/teens + a hearty Dan update | It's probably just as well that we're a week out from school holidays so we can stop discussing the conflicted ins and outs of parenting and specifically lunch boxes! We kick off - kind of by accident - talking/moaning about school lunches and the associated politics. No doubt we'll be back on this chat in a few weeks' time (we're definitely predictable like that). From there, the hot cross bun dilemma, accents, kids, phones and rules take up our energy. We then spend the back half of the podcast debriefing Dan and where he's at. Jess asks Leece some questions about what's been happening with Dan, where things are at and what some of the current challenges are. We felt we wanted to revisit this as it's been some time and we get asked about Dan most days. It felt good to talk about this in a way because it reminded us that progress - even if small - is being made. Love you Danny Fong. | 3/23/26 | ![]() Together from CHCH! | This felt a little odd! It's good to be back and TOGETHER nonetheless! Sat side by side, our mouths only inches away from each other after a coffee (gross?) this was equal parts odd and awesome to do LOL! In this episode we get ourselves well back on the waffle train rehashing a wonderful weekend together with quite a lot on. It has been so awesome and we have had many great moments connecting with people inside this community and beyond. It's always so, SO heart warming, reassuring and cup-filling to reconnect to the Move it Mama community in person (our Saturday morning workout), to see people at the netball supporting a great cause and all the rest of it. A big thanks for your messages after our previous podcast episode with James which we know many of you loved. Back to normal programming for now (although with a new intro? Who are we)! | 3/16/26 | ![]() James Laughlin - why and how we can ALL be high performers | A long intro awaits you on this episode when, for the first time in a long time, we bring a very exciting and very inspiring guest to the pod. | 3/9/26 | ![]() Pigs are cute, teens, disc success and the lemon | Let us preface from the outset that Leece has no microphone today and both of us are coming from tinny sounding office rooms, so, please bear with us. From next week Leece should have a new mic and we'll start bringing our coat hangers and coats in to soften the sound (if we can lol). We actually had a strategic phone call before recording that was meant to be a kind of 'pre-pod vent' - a way to get the negativity off the chest before recording so that we could give out only positive vibes. Well, plans can change, can't they? Right before we came on, we had the epiphany that we need to be true to ourselves and can't fake anything so here we are, warts and all. Leece runs through the morning sh*t show, from her alarm that wasn't set to her dying iPad to her backhanded blusher compliment. From there we can't help but talk about the teens and everything that parenting these delights encompasses, our issue with makeup and compliments, a comprehensive disc analogy slash success story and then finally we touch on the lemon, a book recommendation chick and what's bringing us joy (so much - even still). Thanks for your love and support - we are so grateful to our podcast community for being here every week. Here's to a better mic and more positivity next time!! | 3/2/26 | ![]() Our usual - kids, the weekend and rejection spirals | Today’s episode is, as per, a full life debrief. The tech is annoying - we have patches of Leece's mic going in and out - sorry, but as promised we'll fix this and be more professional (!). We talk to the mum spirals, the parenting wins, and everything in between. We chat about Louis and his cruiser bike era, Rico's school camp and the emotional rollercoaster of letting your kids choose their own friends (how hard is this?). Leece gives us the update on getting an office and we unpack the weekend — including Dan taking the kids out solo which felt like a monumental moment, not going to Electric Ave and sauna eavesdropping. We then deep dive into Leece’s self-diagnosed rejection disorder and our shared talent for over-analysing literally everything we say, do, and think (not that great for two chicks who podcast every Monday). In summary - motherhood, self-awareness, spiraling and what's bringing us joy just to round things off. | 2/23/26 | ![]() Life's HARD, what your nail shape says about you, letting go of control + yum stuff | This week, we begin in the trenches a bit. We chat about life feeling really HARD and how unhelpful it is when you open social media and everyone else looks like every aspect of their life is perfect. Comparison is alive and well - even though we know it's a thief. Life is really hard for many different reasons and so this is where we begin. The mood softens a little as we unpack the teen years (although, send help) - vaping, drinking, eye rolls and the slow release of control in parenting kids who now think they know everything. As usual, we also cover super important cultural commentary such as (but not limited to) - what your nail shape says about you (hello ballerina), a Hello Disc update (again), and why Round the Bays reminded us that doing an event is always such a great idea. Plus: Rico’s trade school update, Beau heading off to school, food bits we’re currently stoked about and not one but A FEW sparkle spreaders to round things out! As usual this is mild therapy / us on a Monday as you've come to expect. We over-analyse every episode so please bear with our ebbs and flows! | 2/16/26 | ![]() The ladder of life - sniffing undies, V-Day, Fishbowl, Supplements, the disc + more | Kia ora! Back for another round of a one hour plus waffle train you just can't help but sink your ears into. Is that what they say? Lol. As always, we end up having a good moan about the kids - particularly the teen phase and the circus it currently is for Leece. Phones on downtime, sniffing undies, sleepover negotiations, and the eternal challenge of being on the same page as your partner - it’s all on. We then dive into the nitty gritty - Valentines Day and associated musings, the game Fishbowl (sounds like a good time), supplements and creatine, events such as Hyrox, an update on the period disc, food habits including fasting and much, much more. | 2/9/26 | ![]() Goth era, french tips, grief, camping, Trump and teens | Welcome back to the podcast and 'appy Mondee. We're here gas-bagging about all sorts - from what we're wearing to social media, teens and school, grief, camping, family moments and memories and more. Honestly where does the time go? It felt like we were talking for about 15 minutes but here we are again with another 1 hour+ episode. It's been a heavy week for Leece, which we actually don't dive into much at all (you'll likely know if you've worked out with her), but we otherwise have lots of chat around teenagers; what's going on for Leece in that respect - and somehow then find ourselves discussing the topic of grief. We dive into camping post an overnighter in Geraldine and now that we're finished, we'll no doubt spend the rest of the week over-analysing every inch of out chat (lol). The joys of speaking out loud and publishing your conversations!! We love it though don't we and thank you for being here! And if you're new here, and haven't checked out our app - DO! | 2/2/26 | ![]() Back to the GRIND. | Kia ora and 'appy Monday! Here we go again - back to regular Monday morning programming! Between us, we went into this podcast in a bit of a mood - Leece when at a certain stage of her cycle finds it hard to articulate, and both of us thrown a little by some feedback - but together we pull finger and find some momentum (shock, horror). A LOT of kid/teen chat in here today but highly topical for many of you we're sure. We start with the latest in teenager angst and drama and kids returning to school, move onto some chat around feedback and social media, Move it Mama celebrating it's 8th birthday and summer holiday synopsis. In between is the excess waffle you've come to expect such as an account of Jimmy Carr, Leece's friends' wedding, not judging books by their covers, and then actual books. Great to be back and apologies, as somehow we find ourselves in the 1 hour+ category again. | 1/26/26 | ![]() Waffles, wisdom + tangents | A cosy, chaotic catch-up we didn't really plan - but we leapt at the opportunity. We weren’t meant to be back behind the mic until next week, but the stars aligned with Jess and Char in the same place at the same time. Leece shares a bit about trusting her gut and leaning into her intuition, which quickly spirals into a very enthusiastic chat about Heated Rivalry (the show, the book and the gay sex). We also touch on a local Waikato hill climb with a mildly competitive edge (and further spiraling lol), what’s bringing us genuine joy right now, and a few real-life moments with our kids. Apologies for our sound quality today as together we were without mics. | 1/12/26 | ![]() Popping in to say HI! | HELLO!! Happy 2026! We hope this year is bright, healthy, and full of joy for all of us. Leece had a fun idea yesterday - a little bonus holiday episode before we officially kick off our regular programming on February 2nd. The plan for today was simple: talk only about the things that bring us joy and start the podcasting year with positive vibes only... but as mornings go, the mood had other ideas lol. So we start by reflecting on that, and then, naturally, we find our way back to joy. The moral? Sometimes you have to go through a bit of sh*t to get to the good stuff - and we always get there in the end (kind of). From pork mince to Dan, to the APP (!)/an apology, to protecting our space, pockets of joy and more. So fun to be back - we look forward to the weekly digest commencing Monday 2nd February! Love xx To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here | — | ||||||
| 12/22/25 | ![]() Leece, Jess, Char & Kirsty G see the year out! | In true us fashion, we may have left it a little late to wrangle the full crew for our final pod of the year; so today it’s just the four of us: Leece and Jess, plus our sisters Char and Kirst (with Kirst being the honourary sister who is basically an actual sister). We took a few questions that came through on the ’gram and let them lead the chat, which means this episode is a bit of everything - the fun, the real, and the reflective. We kick things off talking about something we’re proud of from this year that not many people know about, whether we’re buying our own Christmas presents (important), and the one word we’d use to sum up the year that was. It’s been a tough one in many ways, with plenty of challenges along the way. But even in the hard stuff, there’s so much to be grateful for, and ending 2025 by launching the Move it Mama app has been an absolute thrill. We cannot wait to head into 2026 with big plans, watching our community make the app their own and helping us shape it into something even better. To our community - thank you. We’re so grateful for you, and we’ll see you very soon 💛 To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here | — | ||||||
