On November 7th, 2007, 33-year-old Lina Kaufman was found dead in her Florida home on the bathroom floor. Her husband, Adam Kaufman, called 911 while trying to revive her. Seventeen months passed with no answers for the cause of her death, until Adam was suddenly arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Medical experts pointed to physical evidence of strangulation, while Adam’s defense attorneys speculated about an allergic reaction to a spray tan. In 2008, a man named Clark Rockefeller was arrested in Boston for kidnapping his daughter during a custody dispute with his ex-wife. Boxing legend Arturo Gatti is found dead on the floor of an apartment while on vacation in Brazil. His family suspects his wife, Amanda Rodrigues, who they think is after his estate, when Arturo is found dead with a pool of blood and a purse strap beside him. In March of 2010, 34-year-old Jamie Laiaddee goes missing from a Phoenix, Arizona suburb. Ten weeks pass before anyone begins to worry. Investigators zero in on her boyfriend, Bryan Stewart, who, as it turns out, doesn’t exist. Who is Bryan Stewart, really? And can the police trust his story, that he helped Jamie disappear? Bryan claims that Jamie is alive and doesn’t want to be found, but detectives have their own theories about what really happened to her. Erin Moriarty revisits her investigation into a double murder committed by then 15-year-old Daniel Marsh, who has just been granted permission to appeal his prison sentence. An elderly couple is stabbed to death in their Davis, California home, with no evidence left behind. But months later, cops receive a phone call that places suspicion squarely on a former local hero.
