| 7/26/26 | Grant & Chezzi Denyer: Love, Loss, Spirit and The Signs That Changed Everything | This week Nicola and Di welcome a very special double act, Grant Denyer and his wife Chezzi. Grant has spent decades entertaining Australians on television with his quick wit, boundless energy, and refreshing honesty about life's highs and lows. Chezzi's journey into spirituality and intuitive work has inspired so many to think differently about life's deeper questions. Together, this couple have weathered incredible highs and real challenges, and we loved every minute of getting to know their story. In this episode, we chat to Grant and Chezzi about how they met as colleagues who, by their own admission, didn't even like each other at first, until the moment when everything changed. We also talk candidly about the aftermath of Grant's horrific accident and the painkiller addiction that followed, and how Chezzi found herself thrust into the role of carer within weeks of their relationship beginning. It's raw, honest, and a powerful reminder of what it means to show up for someone through the hardest of times. We also dive into Chezzi's incredible book, The Weird Little Girl Who Talked to Ghosts, and her lifelong connection to spirit. She opens up about the childhood experiences she didn't understand, to losing touch with her gift entirely, to the profound loss that brought it flooding back. Her stories about the messages she's able to deliver, and the healing it brings to grieving families, are truly beautiful to hear. Grant and Chezzi also open up about the work they've each done on themselves around understanding their childhood wounds, learning how those patterns show up in marriage, and how self-awareness (rather than blame) has helped them build a stronger relationship. We talk about Grant's Gold Logie win, his fear of failure, and Chezzi's beautifully instinctive approach to life. This is one of those conversations that has it all: laughter, honesty and real wisdom. We had the best time chatting with Grant and Chezzi and we hope you love this episode as much as we did! This episode is proudly supported by Montgomery Investment Management, trusted experts helping you build and protect your financial future. | 7/19/26 | Em Rusciano: From Sold-Out Shows and Radio Success to Love, Life, ADHD & Choosing Herself | This week Nicola and Di sit down with the funny and unfiltered Em Rusciano. As most of our Australian listeners will know, Em is a comedian, performer, writer, singer, author, podcaster and proud mum of three. From music and radio to stage and screen, Em has built a career turning life's messiest, funniest and most honest moments into stories that make people laugh and feel truly seen. In this episode we chat to Em about her incredible journey, from growing up as the overachieving daughter of Italian immigrants in Melbourne, to accidentally auditioning for Australian Idol after a karaoke night, to building a career in radio and now touring the country independently with her own stage show. It's a story of reinvention, courage and never quite playing by the rules, which we absolutely love! We also talk to Em about the huge life changes she’s been going through over the past few years, including the end of her 25-year marriage, discovering she's ADHD and autistic in her 40s, and going through perimenopause all at once. She opens up about learning to choose herself first, and why she believes women are given so little permission to put themselves at the top of their own list. Em also shares all the details of her new show, Addicted to Love, touring nationally from August. It’s a funny cabaret about being conditioned from birth to chase love and Em shares some hilarious stories from the world of dating in your 40s. We had the best time in the studio with Em. She's honest, hilarious, and has such a gift for making people feel less alone. We hope you love this episode as much as we did! This episode is proudly supported by Montgomery Investment Management, trusted experts helping you build and protect your financial future. | 7/12/26 | Dr. Lurve: Love, Lust & The Language of Connection | This week Nicola and Di chat about love, lust, dating disasters, red flags and the secrets to making romance actually work, with the one and only Dr. Lurve. She's a psychologist and relationship expert who has dedicated her career to helping people understand what makes us tick when it comes to love, and she brought so much wisdom (and so many laughs) to the studio. In this episode Dr. Lurve discusses how you don't need to be "fully healed" before you find love. In fact, she says relationships are more like yoga than a finish line, a practice you never fully master. She breaks down the difference between chemistry and intimacy, why love bombing feels so addictive, and how understanding your partner's love language is the map to actually speaking to their heart. We talk all about the world of dating apps, the good, the bad and the ugly, and Dr. Lurve shares a simple tip for getting things off the screen and into real life within 21 days. She also shares why baggage isn't a red flag but a window into character, how to spot the addictive push-pull "crumbing" cycle, and why staying with an avoidant partner can quietly wear you down over time. Dr. Lurve reminds us that if you’re starting over after a breakup or a divorce, you’re actually in a position of power rather than weakness. You've got the data, the wisdom and the freedom to write a new chapter. We talk about dating later in life, the importance of matching values over chemistry, how to have hard conversations without ambushing your partner, and why learning to do conflict well might be the real secret to a relationship's longevity. We had such a great time chatting with Dr. Lurve, it was like having another girlfriend with us in the studio. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did! | 7/5/26 | Over The Money Fence: Budget Bombshell - What it Means for Your Money | This week Nicola and Di are back with Over The Money Fence with Roger Montgomery. This series aims to help you take control of your finances with clarity and confidence. Roger is the Founder and Chairman of Montgomery Investment Management, has over 30 years’ investing experience and is a highly respected financial commentator featuring on various ABC programs, as well as his popular column in The Australian newspaper. He is also the author of best-selling investment guidebook Value.able. In this episode, Roger goes through the biggest bombshells from this year’s budget and what the practical implications are for you and your money. He explains why the changes to the budget don’t actually benefit young Australians, and therefore positioning it in this way is simply untrue. We talk about the hype around SpaceX being publicly listed, overtaking Amazon in market value, and Roger shares his thoughts on whether the hype is real or if this company has been overvalued. We also discuss private credit funds and why they can be a good investment option for people that want good returns without the volatility of the share market. As always, we loved having this conversation with Roger in the studio. He always makes us feel more calm and confident about our financial decisions. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did. Kathryn chats to us about her hosiery label High Heel Jungle, what inspired her to create the business and how amazing it’s been to have her label worn by the Kardashians, Kylie Jenner, Ariana Grande, and Rihanna, to name just a few. She shares what it’s been like to balance her career with motherhood, and the importance of going after your dreams. | 6/7/26 | Steven Bradbury OAM - Doing a Bradbury: The Toughest Lessons That Led to Gold | This week Nicola and Di chat with the legendary Steven Bradbury. All of our Australian listeners, and many of our international listeners as well, will remember the epic moment in 2002 when Steven became the first Australian ever to win a Gold medal at the Winter Olympics. It was such a memorable race as Steven came from behind to win the final, and in doing so, created the term ‘Doing a Bradbury’, which was added to the Macquarie Dictionary in 2014. However, there’s so much more to Steven’s story than that one moment, and we were so grateful to be able to hear more about his journey of strength, passion and resilience. In this episode, we chat to Steven about his speed skating career and some of the most heart-stopping moments, including 2 specific crashes where he almost lost his life. It’s incredible to hear Steven talk about the incident in Montreal where he lost ¾ of his blood in 1 minute, and his next significant injury, 18 months out from his final Olympics, when he broke his neck in training. The sheer determination and resilience that Steven showed to keep going and pursue Gold is incredibly inspiring. We also walk through that famous final and unbelievable moment with Steven. What was happening in the lead-up to the race, the strategy that he and his coach decided on, and what it felt like to watch everyone fall over in front of him, win Gold, but have the entire crowd booing because the local favourite had gone down in the fall. We chat about Steven’s new career as a motivational speaker and entrepreneur, the incredible work ethic he has, the way he’s fuelled by adrenaline and the brewery he started, with the best name ever, Last Man Standing. Steven has some great tips on finding your passion, working really hard at it, and not giving up too early. We really loved having Steven in the studio with us, hearing his story and sharing some laughs. We’re not the only ones who think his story is incredible, it turns out a film is going to be made about his life, which we also chat about in this episode. We hope you love it as much as we did. | 5/26/26 | Jodie Hines: Positive Energy - From Pain to Purpose | This week Nicola and Di chat with incredible Jodie Hines. Jodie is a wellness entrepreneur, DJ, mother and community builder who has turned many of her life’s challenges into thriving not just surviving. She’s inspiring women through movement, music, connection and resilience. From creating spaces that empower others to navigating personal loss with strength and grace, she brings warmth, energy and authenticity into everything she does. She’s the founder of Positive Energy, where we will be hosting our Over The Back Fence Disco, and we were thrilled to chat with her and share her story. In this episode we hear about Jodie’s beautiful (yet slightly chaotic) upbringing as one of 8 kids. Jodie loved being part of a big family and her childhood was full of love and happiness, until at the age of 11, her whole world changed when her dad died by suicide. We talk about the challenging years that followed, with Jodie’s mum remarrying and ending up in a domestically violent relationship. We then hear about Jodie’s own struggles, as she also found herself in not one, but two abusive relationships. Thankfully, Jodie also had a knight in shining armour on her side, and we hear the beautiful love story of the man that helped Jodie escape her dangerous relationship and how they fell in love. The most uplifting thing about Jodie’s story is that she was able to take all of her pain and turn it into purpose. Through her own journey of healing, Jodie discovered so many modalities that help improve someone’s physical and mental wellbeing, and with the support of her husband, she was able to create her dream wellness space, Positive Energy, where she brings all of this together. Jodie’s purpose is to bring people joy, connect them through community and help them feel safe, happy and as though they belong (and she’s certainly succeeded in that!). Her wellness space, Positive Energy, is truly amazing and we couldn’t think of anywhere better to hold our Over The Back Fence Disco. And what better than to have Jodie be the DJ at the event! We absolutely loved chatting to Jodie, hearing her inspiring story and we are thrilled to be able to share it with you. We hope you love it! We’ve created a special offer for our Back Fence listeners to use at Positive Energy. Listeners can get a 10 class pack for $150 (save $90) or 25% off an unlimited membership for 3 months. Use code: BACKFENCEPE to activate your special offer. We'd love you to join us for our Backfence Disco on Friday, May 29th at Positive Energy in Sydney. They’re also mums, juggling family life, careers, and navigating their forties with all of the change, chaos and reinvention that comes with it. We couldn’t wait to chat to them about it all. In this episode we hear the story of how Lise and Sarah first met, found themselves talking for 5hrs and haven’t stopped chatting since! We talk about their incredible friendship and chemistry, which led to them getting tapped on the shoulder to host a national breakfast radio show, and how they juggled that career with raising their children. They also share about the leap they made to leave radio and start their own podcast, the difficult times that followed, as well as the hard work, belief, manifesting, intention-setting and perseverance that brought them to where they are today. It’s such an inspiring story! We chat to the girls about life over the decades - we get to hear what being in their forties means to them and Di and Nicola share what life has been like in their sixties - newsflash, it keeps getting better! This episode is a really great chat amongst girlfriends. It’s full of laughs, stories and sharing life truths with each other. | 5/17/26 | Kerri Pottharst OAM: The Champion Mindset | This week Nicola and Di chat with the inspiring Olympian Kerri Pottharst OAM. Kerri delivered one of Australia's most iconic sporting moments, when she won Gold with her partner Natalie Cook in beach volleyball, playing in front of 10,000 fans on the sands of Bondi beach at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. However, there’s more to Kerri than just the medals. Beyond being an elite athlete, she’s also a talented speaker, an author, a mindset coach, a commentator and a mum and we loved getting to hear her story in this episode. We chatted to Kerri about how she got started in beach volleyball, which is a remarkable story of turning a rock bottom moment into one of the most incredible chapters of her life. After injuring herself in indoor volleyball, she decided to give beach volleyball a go, despite the fact that she doesn’t even like sand - and the rest is history! Kerri shares so many incredible mindset tips, including how she turned things around after a terrible injury, got clear on her goals, wrote them down, visualised them every day, got the right group of people around her and worked towards achieving her dream. There’s so much we can all learn from Kerri around creating a winning mindset and going after what we want in life! We also chatted about Kerri’s choice to really challenge herself as she got older and compete on SAS Australia - one of the most physically grueling things you can do. She shared how it was important to her to inspire older women and show them that we can still challenge ourselves and try new things as we age. Kerri also opens up about finding love again, and the beautiful way she met her partner while on holiday in Hawaii - it’s a great story you’ll want to hear! This was such an inspiring conversation with Kerri and we were so thrilled to have her with us in the studio. We laughed a lot and felt completely uplifted after talking to her - we hope you do too. | 5/10/26 | Johann Hari: Anxiety, Shame & Finding Meaning, The Truth About Ozempic | This week Nicola and Di chat with New York Times Best-Selling Author, Johann Hari. Johann is an award-winning journalist and the author of 5 books that have sold millions of copies across the world and been translated into 40 languages. He has spent many years pulling at threads most of us don’t even realise we’re tangled in. From addiction to attention spans and depression, the invisible forces shaping how we live, Johann’s insightful words have spread all over the world, through not only his books, but his TED talks that have been viewed more than 93 million times and his appearances on some of the world’s leading podcasts and shows. In this episode, Johann opens up about his early childhood and gives us an insight into what life was like for him as a young boy. He talks about the difficult situations and challenges he’s been through, which gave him the personal motivation to start asking questions to understand more about some of the biggest problems of the modern world - addiction, anxiety, depression, loneliness, focus, and weight gain. We talk about the 9 causes of anxiety and depression, and that the Western world’s focus on treating anxiety and depression through medication alone, has missed the mark by not taking the time to address the underlying causes. Johann talks about broadening the menu of options and treatments available to people, and the importance of understanding what is causing your anxiety or depression, so you can find the appropriate treatment. He shares some incredible stories and examples of social prescribing, and the way that working together, building community and leaning into connection are some of the most powerful antidepressants in the world. We also talk to Johann about his latest book, The Magic Pill, which goes through everything you need to know about GLP-1 weight loss drugs. Johann shares about his personal journey with Ozempic, the pros and the cons, and how despite getting everything he thought he wanted - losing weight and looking good, he didn’t actually feel better. We had so much fun chatting with Johann. Even though the topics we cover in this episode are quite serious, Johann is an exceptional story teller with a wonderful sense of humour and we laughed a lot. | 5/3/26 | Barry Hoffner: Belonging to the World - 193 Countries: From Grief to Connection | This week Nicola and Di chat with wanderlust traveler Barry Hoffner. Barry is the author of Amazon’s number 1 adventure travel book, Belonging To The World. In 2017, Barry’s whole world changed when his wife Jackie was in a tragic accident involving an elephant while volunteering in Africa with WildAid. After she passed away, Barry had to remain strong for his 2 sons, yet through his own healing journey, he discovered so much about life, kindness, and connection and it opened his eyes to a new world. Rather than bury his grief, which Barry says can mute the possibility of feeling joy again, his healing journey inspired him to travel to 193 countries - that’s every country on earth! In this episode we hear how Barry’s love of travel was first ignited with a chance back-packing trip to Europe after high school. From that moment, Barry knew he wanted to see the world. He tells us about his career in investment banking, which allowed him to live and work in cities such as Buenos Aires, Paris, Tokyo, Singapore, London, Zurich, Mexico City and Moscow. We also hear the beautiful story of how Barry met his late wife Jackie, and the moment they declared their love for each other outside the Taj Mahal. They went on to have 2 sons and raise a beautiful family, and were just about to enjoy their first trip as empty nesters when tragedy struck and Jackie was killed on a volunteering trip in Africa. Barry describes the moment that he found out, and how his life would never be the same again. Barry’s journey from grief to connection over the last 8 years has been remarkable and he shares so many incredible stories of the amazing moments he’s had in countries so many of us will only dream of visiting. He shares the moment that made his heart beat the most, and we also ask for some of his best travel tips, including where he had the best coffee - you’ll never guess where it was! We also talk to Barry about the empowering charity he set up in 2010 called Caravan to Class. What started as a personal project to help build a school for his 50th birthday in Timbuktu, led to Barry creating a charity that continues to build schools and offer scholarships, in Jackie’s honour, to educate women in West Africa. What’s even more incredible is that 100% of the proceeds from the sales of Barry’s book go to Caravan to Class to continue this important work. We are lucky enough to call Barry a good friend and we were so thrilled to be able to have this conversation with him. He’s such a good storyteller and has so much wisdom to share about what he’s learnt on his travels. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did. | 4/26/26 | Jasmin Tarasin & Maeve Dermody: Hidden Signs of Coercive Control - A New Way Forward - Film: Life Could Be A Dream | This week Nicola and Di chat with talented filmmaker Jasmin Tarasin and lead actress Maeve Dermody about their new film Life Could Be A Dream. Jasmin is an award-winning filmmaker and artist who creates emotionally charged heartfelt stories driven by humanity and honesty. She is passionate about creating change in gender equality through storytelling in every part of her work. Maeve is an accomplished actress who starred in her first film at the age of 5 and has been acting ever since in television, theatre and films in both Australia and Britain. Every so often a story comes along that really sticks with you and sparks a bigger conversation. Life Could Be A Dream, already winning Best Independent Film at the Montreal Film Festival, is one of those films. It’s a powerful, intimate film that uses storytelling to shine a light on coercive control, financial abuse and those quieter patterns that can sit underneath relationships. It’s also a story of hope and resilience about how we can start to see things more clearly and make different choices moving forward. In this episode we chat to Jasmin about her work leading up to this film and what inspired her to tell a story about coercive control. We talk about what coercive control actually is, how you can recognise the subtle patterns or signs of it, and importantly, we also go through some of the very practical steps you can take to regain your own financial agency. We talk to Maeve about what it was like making the film, the beautiful cinematography, the powerful story and how we both felt when we watched it. It’s a film that really moved us, and even though it tackles a heavy topic, it does so in such a thoughtful and gentle way. As Jasmin says in this chat, she sees the film as a story of hope, family and resilience and as a love song to young men. Life Could Be A Dream is in cinemas in Australia from May 14th and a percentage of the ticket sales will go to The Man Cave, a preventative mental health charity for boys and young men. We loved having both Jasmin and Maeve in the studio with us and we hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did. | 4/19/26 | John Fejo: Sharks, Drones and First Nations Wisdom in the Age of AI | This week Nicola and Di chat with inspiring storyteller John Fuje. John is a First Nations man with a deep connection to storytelling culture and country. He works in environmental services as a senior coordinator, and is an AI and drone technology specialist, using these tools in practical ways to help track sharks, turtles and other marine life along the coastline. The amazing thing about John is the way he blends thousands of years of indigenous wisdom about country and Mother Nature, with the most modern AI tools to find new ways of looking after our planet. John is also a devoted husband, father and grandfather with so much love for his family. Nicola and Di were introduced to John when he was brought in to spot sharks on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. After inviting him for what they thought would be a 20 minute coffee, which turned into 2 hours, they decided that everyone needed to hear John’s stories. In this episode we hear the incredible story of how John was able to combine his deep knowledge of country with drone technology that would help him track the movements of sharks and other marine life. We ask him about the recent increase in shark attacks along Sydney’s coastline, and whether there are more sharks in the water - John’s answer may surprise you! We talk about the power of Mother Nature in grounding us and reminding us how connected we all are. The way John talks about his connection with nature is mesmerising and we were captivated by his stories. Dr. Shefali is a world-renowned clinical psychologist, international parenting expert, and a New York Times bestselling author of 7 books including The Conscious Parent, The Parenting Map and A Radical Awakening among others. She’s also the host of the Parenting & You podcast, founder of the Conscious Parenting movement and has been a guest several times on Super Soul with Oprah. In this episode we talk to Dr. Shefali about what it means to be a conscious parent and how you can become aware of your patterns and belief systems by recognising that your child is a mirror to your unresolved issues. It’s not only our children, we talk about the powerful way that all relationships are like mirrors that show us where we still have places to heal and lessons to learn. Dr. Shefali shares some great examples from her own life as a parent, and how we can practically begin to break down our patterns and not project our expectations onto our children. She helps us understand that there’s no such thing as a perfect parent or a perfect human - we are all learning and evolving. Dr. Shefali shares about her childhood in India and how she always knew she wanted to leave because of the inequalities she witnessed there. At the age of 21 she moved to the United States, where she studied at the California Institute of Integral Studies and Columbia University and began integrating Western psychology and Eastern philosophy in all of her work. We also talk about her book A Radical Awakening, which helps women see how to break free from societal expectations and live authentic lives. Dr. Shefali talks about the choice we are sometimes faced with between being authentic to ourselves or authentic to the views of others, and that the greatest gift you can ultimately give others in your life is to choose to be authentically yourself. This is such a beautiful and powerful episode, whether you’re a parent or not, because all of Dr. Shefali’s wisdom can be applied to any relationship in your life. Jane is a woman who’s turned midlife into a statement. She’s confident, stylish and completely unapologetic. Jane, known as the Middle Age Goddess, has built a loyal Instagram following by rejecting the idea that life slows down after a certain age and proving instead that it only gets better. In this episode we chat to Jane about what life was like before she became the Middle Age Goddess, and what inspired her to share this chapter of her life online and create such a wonderful community. We talk about why people resonate so much with her message, which is really because of Jane’s honesty and authenticity. She tells us about the agency that she then opened, hiring escorts over 40 and she busts some myths about the sex work industry and the type of people who do this work. Amanda also opens up about her struggles with mental health, how she was living with undiagnosed bipolar, and how much better she is now that she’s medicated and has more clarity. This was an absolutely fascinating conversation and we’re so grateful to Amanda for her honesty and giving us a peek inside an industry that so many of us are curious to know more about. | 3/1/26 | Over The Money Fence: Calm Amid The Chaos: Building Money Confidence in 2026 | This week Nicola and Di are back with the first 2026 episode of Over The Money Fence with Roger Montgomery. In this episode, we take a look at the changes that are currently happening in the world, and how that could impact our finances. Roger explains how the tailwinds that have benefited the stock markets in the past, and have benefited the Baby Boomers and Gen X are shifting, and why that means we need to consider other investments. Roger talks about the importance of diversification and how you need to look at investing in things that don’t move the same way as your existing investments. He discusses alternative investment options that can provide you with regular income, low capital volatility and attractive returns like private credit and the differences in those types of funds. He also explores high-frequency trading and arbitrage strategies, which historically were largely accessible only to institutional investors. We talk about the impact of AI on certain industries, particularly the software as a service industry, which has been the biggest industry people have invested in over the last 25 years. Roger also gives us his best insights into what will likely happen in the markets in 2026 and what he thinks will be wise investments this year. And we also answer some listener questions for you. As always, we loved having this conversation with Roger in the studio. We are so grateful to have found someone that makes us feel safe and relaxed to talk about our finances and empowers us with the tools to take control and feel more confident. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did. This episode is proudly supported by Montgomery Investment Management, trusted experts helping you build and protect your financial future. | 2/22/26 | Claire Parkinson: Shitty Grit - How a Pregnant, Homeless Teen, Became a Prison Officer and Took on a BHP Merger | This week Nicola and Di chat with the remarkable and entertaining Claire Parkinson. Claire began her career as a Prison Officer in the UK, working at the frontlines of human dynamics at their most intense. At 30 years of age she became the Head Of Operations for all prisons and probation in London, overseeing 9000 staff and 33,000 inmates! From there Claire had an opportunity to move to Australia and work in the prison system in Adelaide before stepping into the mining sector where she helped lead a $9.6billion dollar merger between 2 major global corporations. Claire has written a hilarious memoir, Shitty Grit, which captures the remarkable journey that has shaped her. In this episode we hear about Claire’s early life, growing up in social housing in the UK and what it was like to find out at 16 that she was 18 weeks pregnant. Claire shares about the tough time she went through trying to raise a child, when she was just a child herself, and the wild years that followed when she moved back in with her parents and started playing catch-up on the partying she'd missed out on as a teenager. After a sliding doors moment where she had to choose between being a flight attendant or a prison officer, Claire chose the latter. She tells us about the fascinating world of prisons and how she was assigned one of Britain’s most notorious child killers as her inmate when she first began her career. The stories she tells us of those prison days are pretty incredible, and we hope you love getting an insight into a world that most of us know nothing about. We also talk about Claire’s move to Australia and how she was able to transition into the world of mining and lead a huge global merger. When you hear about the way Claire’s determination and initiative have led to incredible opportunities in her life, you can’t help but be inspired. Talk about a woman who’s been through a lot of shit and has a lot of grit! We laughed so much throughout this chat and we hope you’ll find it as entertaining as we did.
