Queen's 100th, Harry's Kyiv Grenade & Charles Braces for Trump - The Week in Royal News with Mark Francis

About this episode

The episode reviews significant events in royal news, including tributes to Queen Elizabeth and Harry's unexpected visit to Kyiv amidst political commentary.

It's the week in review on Palace Intrigue, and it was one for the history books — quite literally. King Charles delivered a moving centenary tribute to Queen Elizabeth, the royal family gathered for a slimmed-down portrait that told its own story, and plans were unveiled for a memorial bridge based on her wedding tiara. Back from Australia, Harry and Meghan returned to a children's welcome banner, a dog, and a wave of commentary ranging from warm to withering, including questions about fashion platform affiliate sales at a terror attack memorial. Meghan launched candles named after her children's birthdays on the Queen's centenary. The timing was noted. Harry then turned up unannounced in Kyiv, spoke about values and American treaty obligations, and promptly drew a response from Donald Trump claiming to speak for Britain more than Harry does — days before King Charles lands in Washington. Deep Crown mapped the diplomatic wreckage with his usual precision. William is said to be holding strategic meetings. A June wedding may put the brothers in the same room. And the King boards a plane to face the most consequential state visit of his reign, armed with decades of training…
