You may recognize one of our guests on the newest episode, Caroline Herbster, artist and founder of Rising Tide Art Studio (go check out Episode 55 for her interview). We also have special guests Chris and Lisa Herbster, Caroline and Brian's amazing parents. Today, we are sharing the beautiful life and story of their son, Brian Herbster, who recently passed after a battle with a rare form of aggressive cancer called Ewings Sarcoma. Brian navigated their diagnosis with courage, determination and grace (see Goose the Band's post from 3/12/26). Todays episode is a deep dive into another piece by Daniel Danger (@tinymediaempire on Instagram) from the August 26, 2033 Dave Matthews Band show in Irvine, CA. We learned a lot about the history that inspired this Danger print. Juana Maria - the Lone Woman of San Nicholas Island, was the last surviving member of the Nicolino tribe. This tribe had inhabited the island for what we believe over 10,000 years. In the late 1800s, she was found living alone on the island with her dogs in 1850. She had been left behind after missionaries came and forcibly removed the native people 20 years prior. This incredible history and story of this woman, is now front and center as a part of the DMB poster lore. Mike and Erica share their perspective on this piece- as well as the musical inspiration (very Don’t Drink the Water vibes) on this prolific piece by Daniel Danger.

This iconic piece showcases front and center DMB logo of the “firedancer”. Welcome to the world of James Flames! Todays episode, Mike and Erica share a mini-artist bio of one of our favorite DMB artists: James Flames. James is an NC based artist, out in the western part of our state. Today, we chat about our first Flames poster from Raleigh NC - July 23, 2021 (yes we planned this exactly 2 years later for this podcast). Today’s episode, we take a deep dive into the poster from the Pavilion at Star Lake, in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania from June 23, 2023. Studio is F4D Studios, artist is Maxxer242. Mike and Erica talk about the iconic imagery from this venue poster, if you’re from Pittsburgh, you’ll get this immediately, if not, it’s the one of the most recognizable bridges in the city. We chat for a bit about our history with the city of Pittsburgh, our experience at the event, and then our viewpoint of this spectacular poster.

Today Mike and Erica talk about the most recent song series poster by artist, Daniel Danger. This run of posters, are a variety of songs, chosen by artists to illustrate songs in the DMB catalog. “The Stone” is a song on the 3rd studio album, Before These Crowded Streets (BTCS). A small description by Daniel Danger: “to me the play to make with representing this song thru illustration is the lines "this weighs on me" "heavy as stone" "in too deep" and "wondering if you'd come along". this soft dreamlike place filled with heaviness: waterlogged books, the flooded room, victorian pewter lamps, horse statues, bookshelves literally collapsing into themselves, all with this woman observing this outside space that reads much lighter and open, clearly in a state of waiting. existing or trapped in a place filled with things you could love if they weren't in the state they are in, that things aren't what they seem”.
