About this episode
This episode discusses the shortcomings of home intruder alarms and the common mistakes homeowners make that compromise their effectiveness.
Burglar alarms are considered an essential part of home security, but research shows that these alarms are not at all difficult for professional thieves. This is because most homeowners forget to set their alarms or do not lock their windows and doors properly. Burglar alarm technology is great, but if you don't use it properly, technology can't do anything. You can set an alarm when you leave, but chances are you forgot. On a forgotten day, a thief can easily repay his mistake and enter the house. Most professional burglars are familiar with home burglar alarms and know how to operate them. Even with the most expensive alarms on the market right now, if you forget to program them, they do nothing.
