Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour

(S3E39) – Irata A very cool thing happened the other day. I received an email from the band Irata, just thanking me for mentioning the band and wearing their shirt on the show. First off, I love Irata. Second, thank you Irata for being awesome, not only for reaching out unsolicited but for all the great music they have put out in their career. Obviously I proceeded to ask them to come on the show. This was before the announcement of their new record, titled Human, that drops on July 10th via Small Stone Records. So, not only did Jason, Jon, and Owen join this episode of Rich and Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour (S3E39), we also got to talk about the amazing new record that is going to blow you all away. (S3E37) – Soft Curse Gloom Metal? Emo Doom? Give it whatever name you want, but the debut record, Liminal Ritual, from Santa Rosa, California’s Soft Curse, can only be described as awesome. On this episode of Rich and Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour (S3E37), we talk to Jonny Andrew, singer and guitarist from the new band that is bringing their hardcore backgrounds to a more traditional doom sound, and let me tell you, this is doom metal through and through, but with a Soft Curse twist. We talk to Jonny about how the band came to be and their history in the very cool screamo band State Faults, why they have gone metal with this project, the Santa Rosa scene, and Jonny’s singing, which is one of the things that takes Soft Curse to another level. (S3E35) – Ol’ Time Moonshine There are so many great Heavy Underground Canadian bands out there today, and so many of them are on black Throne Productions. A band that is both of these things is Toronto’s Ol’ Time Moonshine, and on this episode of Rich and Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour (S3E35) we were lucky enough to have Bill and Chris from the band join us to talk about their amazing new record, Now I Bleed, that is dropping on June 12, 2026. Not only do we talk about the killer third full length and how it came to be, we also nerd out a bit on 90s Alt Rock from Canada, which is always one of my favorite things to discuss. (S3E33) – Slow Goat On the latest episode of Rich and Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour (S3E33), we are back in Portland, Oregon, where the scene is booming and where this episode's guests reside, the mighty Slow Goat! I have been bugging Rosie to come back on the show for a while now, and we not only have her talking about their upcoming new record, Where the Wisest Fear to Tread, which is dropping on July 10, we get the whole band. (S3E31) – Seum The band that landed at lucky number 13 on April’s Doom Charts list is our guest on the latest episode of Rich and Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour (S3E31), as the guys from the Montreal based Doom 'n' Bass trio Seum join the show. Seum just dropped their killer new record, Parking Life, via Black Throne Productions (go preorder now!!!), and it is an amazing step forward for the unique sound of the band. (S3E29) – GOZU There are some bands that just have something special, that "it” factor that stands out amongst the crowd. On this episode of Rich and Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour (S3E29), we have one of those bands (and one of my favorites), as GOZU joins the show! Doug Sherman and Marc Gaffney join to talk about GOZU VI, the new record that drops on May 15, 2026 and of course it is amazing. We talk about VI, the great video for the first single, Banacek, wrestling, how the band comes up with all the great names for their songs, their upcoming tour with Restless Spirit, and so much more. (S3E27) – HUFR Fest!!! I am so excited for Sean Brooks, Andrea Thomas-Brooks, and Zeth Pedulla as their vision for the first annual HUFR Fest comes to realization on April 24–26, 2026 at Bar 404 in Denver, Colorado. 17 amazing bands over 3 killer nights, I am so proud of what the team has accomplished to pull this off for their first ever festival. (S3E25) – Abrams We have had Zach Amster from the Denver, Colorado band Abrams on the show before for a lot of reasons, but mostly because his band rules and he is a great guy to chat about music with. So, we would have him on any time really, but for the latest episode of Rich and Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour (S3E25) Zach joins us to talk about Abrams new album, Loon, that drops on April 17th via Blues Funeral Recordings (if you're not a PostWax member you should really change that ASAP), and of course you know it is amazing. Turbo calls it the band’s “breakout record” and I sure can’t disagree with that. We cover all the stuff about Loon and so much more. (S3E23) – Q1 2026 Review w/ Rob In The ‘Hood Our friend Rob In The ‘Hood returns to the show on the latest episode of Rich and Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour (S3E23) to recap an amazing start of 2026 with our Q1 review. We count down our top 12 releases so far this year in our usual ragtag way. Check it out!!!

(S3E21) – Elder I am so excited that we were able to get Nick DiSalvo, main man of one of the greatest bands on earth, Elder, to join the show on the day they announce the preorder and drop the first single from album number seven, Through Zero, via Blues Funeral Recordings. (S3E19) – Witch Ripper There are a bunch of great records dropping on April 10, 2026, but the one that may wind up being my favorite is album number three from Seattle’s metal/prog/sludge juggernaut Witch Ripper! So we here at Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour are pumped to have band founder/guitarist/vocalist Curtis Parker join the show (S3E19)! We talk all about said new album, titled Through The Hourglass, brought to us by Magnetic Eye Records (preorder here) that continues the storyline started on their last record, The Flight After The Fall, that was high up on 2023’s year end list. We talk about details of the new one, how the band writes, why the Mastodon comparison is fair, but lazy, and we get all sorts of proggy. (S3E17) – SPINA A first for Rich & Turbo’s Heavy Half Hour (S3E17)! The amazing Bend, Oregon band SPINA played a song live on the show! I love these guys, and not only did they play my favorite song on their new release, EP One, they also chatted with me about the history of the band, their influences, how awesome the Oregon music scene is, and so much more. This was awesome and hopefully the start of having actual music on a Podcast about music. Please go check Spina’s new, killer EP then come check out the interview!
