| 9/20/24 | ![]() AQUARIUM SOUNDS | Sonor Music Editions is honored to announce the reissue of the very rare LP “Aquarium Sounds” by Italian composer Filippo Trecca. Originally released in 1979 as a promo-only item, “Aquarium Sounds” is a hybrid collection of tracks; some were used as the soundtrack to the thriller TV series “Così Per Gioco” (1979), directed by Leonardo Cortese; others from the talk show “Acquario” (1978-1979) hosted by Italian journalist and writer Maurizio Costanzo. The album also includes “Elena Tip” which features playful vocals by a young Ilona Staller (aka Cicciolina). Released on limited edition of 500 copies only. | — | ||||||
| 7/12/24 | ![]() OVERGROUND | Sonor Music Editions proudly presents this restored issue of Maestro Sandro Brugnolini's Overground. This elusive masterpiece in library music captures the most impressive work, alongside Underground (1970), of the Italian composer and alto sax player. Sandro Brugnolini was a prominent member of the Modern Jazz Gang, a famous Italian jazz group, during the 1950s and 60s, which also included Amedeo Tommasi, Cicci Santucci, and Enzo Scoppa. The group was active from 1956 to 1965 and produced some remarkable albums such as Miles Before And After (1960) and the original soundtrack from Gli Arcangeli (1962), which featured the renowned American jazz singer, Helen Merrill. Subsequently, he recorded many of the genre's most iconic releases, including Feelings (1974), albeit uncredited, and ventured into Psychedelic Lounge Funk and Progressive Jazz Beat tunes. Overground was released on Sincro Edizioni Musicali in 1970 as the soundtrack to Enrico Moscatelli and Mario Rigoni's documentary Persuasione, commissioned by Ente Provinciale Per Il Turismo Di Trento, a local tourism board in Italy, with music composed by Sandro Brugnolini and Luigi Malatesta featuring some of the best musicians in Italy at the time like Angelo Baroncini and Silvano Chimento on guitars, Giorgio Carnini on piano and organ, Enzo Restuccia on drums, and Giovanni Tommaso on bass and effects. The music spans from underground Psychedelic Prog. Rock with swirling organs, trippy effects, and distorted fuzz guitars to sophisticated Lounge grooves with Avant-garde orchestrations. | — | ||||||

| 4/9/24 | ![]() Awake - ASPETTI SOCIALI | The outstanding Rino De Filippi's "ASPETTI SOCIALI" under his famed moniker 'Awake', on the very elusive Vroommm label. A record that never surfaced around in the last years, like many from Vroommm, and which is a perfect proof of Maestro' De Filippi distinctive style, with also the uncredited participation of Giuliano Sorgini. A stunning work featuring many beautiful compositions on the same line of his best albums of the period like “Vacanze”, “Nel Mondo Del Lavoro”, “Meccanizzazione”, “Giardino Dei Miei Desideri” and “Tema Amore”. The crazy sleeve design reproduces image cuts of clashes and social unrest in Italy during 1970s. Enjoy the stunning Bossa Lounge theme “RIPRESA INDUSTRIALE” with its mind-blowing melodies and up-tempo bouncy rhythms. The killer hypnotic beats from “METROPOLI NEVROTICA”, the breezy harmonic Bossa on “ESCURSIONI TURISTICHE”, the moody baroque funky “GIOVENTU’ SCALPITANTE” and the unbelievable open drum breaks of “PALAZZO DEI CONGRESSI”. Stellar album! | — | ||||||
| 4/5/24 | ![]() Alessandro Alessandroni - OPEN AIR PARADE | We're thrilled to announce a deluxe vinyl repress of Alessandro Alessandroni's seminal masterpiece, "OPEN AIR PARADE". Regarded as a holy grail among collectors, this definitive library record takes its rightful place on the pedestal of dreams alongside other revered classics of Italian Library music like SPONTANEOUS, the FARFALLA recordings, RITMO DELL'INDUSTRIA, FEELINGS, TO-DAY'S SOUND etc. Originally unleashed upon the world in 1972 via the legendary SR Records, "Open Air Parade" has become a sought-after gem coveted by music enthusiasts worldwide. Enriched by the unmistakable touch of bass virtuoso Giovanni Tommaso, who undoubtedly graced these sessions with his talent, this album transcends time with its killer sound and captivating arrangements. Prepare to be transported to a realm of strung-out Psychedelic Funk, where groovy beats and lush instrumentation reign supreme. Alessandroni's Cantori Moderni chorus adds an extra layer of allure with their mesmerizing vocal themes, making this Italian Library monster an absolute mind-bender. | 12/8/23 | ![]() Piero Umiliani - A TEMPO DI JAZZ | Sonor Music Editions proudly presents "A TEMPO DI JAZZ" by Maestro Piero Umiliani. This lost gem captures the formative years of Modern Jazz in late 1950s Italy - alongside the legendary Basso-Valdambrini recordings in the early 1960s, as well as the early years of Piero Umiliani's long and prolific career as a composer with over 190 soundtracks, 40 library albums, and 35 TV title themes recorded. A TEMPO DI JAZZ includes seven original compositions by Piero Umiliani recorded in 1959. Here, at the age of 33, he lays a perfect ground with himself as a pianist, accompanied by some of the best Italian soloists at the time: Marcello Boschi on alto saxophone and flute, Ivan Vandor on tenor saxophone, Peppe Carta on bass, and the American trombonist Bill Gilmore. With plenty of room for improvisation, the sextet fuses Big Band moods with West Coast experimentation of Latin American rhythms and Modern Jazz ballads that sit perfectly between his soundtracks for the films "I Soliti Ignoti" (Big Deal on Madonna Street) from the same year that attained him international recognition, and his masterpiece "Smog" (featuring Chet Baker and Helen Merrill) from 1962. Five compositions are outtakes from Piero Umiliani's mega-rarity "Tempo Jazz", released on RCA Custom in 1960, while 'Tema In Blues' has been published on the two - impossible to obtain - 45 releases "Moderato Swing" (RCA Camden 45CP 112) and "Tema In Blues" (RCA Custom 45 R3) from 1960 as well as the previously unreleased track 'Mezza Cottura.' The music has been transferred and remastered from the original master tapes and lacquer cut in MONO, preserving the original sound of the recordings. | — | ||||||
| 11/24/23 | ![]() Sandro Brugnolini - FREEDOM JAZZ | Sonor Music Editions unveil another mega-rarity from the renowned Sermi Records vaults from obscurity: composer and saxophone player Sandro Bugnolini’s Freedom Jazz suite - originally released as a part of the fourth installment of the iconic Intermezzi library series recorded in the late 1960s. The whole suite recalls black counter-culture with free jazz arrangements signed by Maestro Brugnolini and improvisations performed by legendary musicians such as Gato Barbieri on tenor saxophone, Giovanni Tommaso on bass, and Franco Tonani on drums. | — | ||||||

| 9/15/23 | ![]() Mark Saddlemire - SOUND IN THE ROUND | Mark Saddlemire is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer from Philadelphia, PA. He is passionate about creating instrumental compositions from a blend of acoustical and electronic sounds using analog techniques. As an electrical engineer by trade, he's customized and repaired much of the vintage gear used for his recordings. 'Sound-in-the-Round' is his debut single, entirely produced, composed and arranged by Mark with unique and rare analog instruments from the 1960s to the 1980s. His music is deeply inspired by the golden Library Music sounds, especially the Italian scene from the 1970s and 80s. Out on New Tape label - September 2023 ℗&© Sonor Music Editions | — | ||||||
| 6/9/23 | ![]() Parbleu - ELIOS | ELIOS is the new, long-awaited second album by the explosive combo PARBLEU. After the success of their debut masterpiece "Danse Cette Zik!", the band continues its deep exploration of a variety of styles and influences, synthesizing Afrobeat, Island Disco, House, and electronic grooves all awash with breezy vocals en francais. With ELIOS, Parbleu manages to evoke a very specific vibe of the 1980s' frenzy while maintaining a decidedly contemporary feel – a perfect hybrid of the Old and the New – with great elan. The resulting mix is a high energy trip around the world, from the Caribbean to the Cote d’Azur to the Persian Gulf to shores unknown. Bon Voyage! Mix courtesy of TommyBoy | — | ||||||
| 4/28/23 | ![]() Mandrassi & Zollinger - RHYTHM AND SOUND | Sonor Music Editions proudly announces a previously unknown Italian Library killer session from the golden era - RHYTHM AND SOUND by the mysterious 'Mandrassi & Zollinger', backed by 'I Beati' studio band. Mandrassi, alias for Anna Maria Assunta Andreassi, is one of the very first female composers of Library Music in Italy while Zollinger is linked to Sergio Pagano, brother of the famed Italian author, composer and singer Mario Pagano. Originally released in 1974 for the private studio label ‘Ludo Record’, this album remained in the obscurity for almost 50 years, it’s so rare that only very few hardcore record collectors know it, we even doubt about its existence at all.. so we're now glad to bring it back to life! A countless breaks galore, filled with outstanding funk grooves and chasing beats. The jam sounds like a missing link between The Fine Machine ‘Habitat’ and the legendary Arawak ‘Accadde a..’ recordings, with its uptempo rhythms allover and the coolest funky instrumentation played by a mysterious studio group. 1st run limited to 500 copies worldwide Remastered sound Graphic restauration by John Henriksson (Piano Piano Records) | — | ||||||
| 4/28/23 | ![]() Giovanni Tommaso - INDEFINITIVE ATMOSPHERE | Giovanni Tommaso is the greatest Italian Jazz bassist and founder and member of the most important ever Italian Jazz Rock ensembles, the Perigeo band. He composed "INDEFINITIVE ATMOSPHERE" at the end of 1969, released a few months after in 1970 on Sermi label, and recorded it at Rca studios in Rome. "INDEFINITIVE ATMOSPHERE" represents a special album for him and for us as well, since it was his first album released as a sole composer/artist. The Maestro digged in personal archive for us and finally found a copy of the original master tape containing part of the recordings. Besides the misspelled title "Indefinitive" instead of "Indefinite", that became part of the legend here, this album was incredibly ahead of his time, with the young Maestro Tommaso playing electric bass and contrabass a in studio ensemble composed of 3/4 elements plus the strings section, with plenty of stunning Jazz-Funk, Jazz-Rock and Free Jazz tracks. The session is also known for including the legendary American Jazz soprano sax Steve Lacy on the track called "Steve", where he plays a sax solo. We entirely restored the full session from the original tapes found, and digitally remastered the sound for a greater sound experience, chasing the original analog source. | — | ||||||
