| 6/11/20 | ![]() SOUND COALITIONS / Episode 39: Guest Mix featuring DANYB (Danilo Braca) | Eclectic, glamorous sounds galore, DANYB aka Danilo Braca knows beautiful music! Have you heard Danilo at NYC Standard's Le Bain nightclub? He's a regular there where he spins his signature sound: eclectic genres from around the world connected by the quality of their productions and his unique mixing. Music has always been a major part of Danilo’s life: his father was an avid record collector and a hifi enthusiast, an obvious influence on Danilo’s career path choice. He started DJing at parties in Italy in 1986 at the age of 13, and later worked as a sound engineer in music studios in Rome. 2012 Brought Danilo to NYC, where he founded The Sound of New York City, a web radio dedicated to the music from his adopted home, and a music production studio filled with vintage gear from his father’s collection. Since moving to the US, Danilo built a strong reputation as club DJ, known for his relentless energy, technical expertise and deeply eclectic music selection. It ranges from African rarities to Italo disco, all through the prism of classic old school sounds of Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia and of course, New York. Starting in 2016 Danilo released five vinyl EP collections of DJ edits, including the acclaimed Busted series. His latest release, the original single “Oh My Lord” featuring Troy Mobiuscollective on saxophone, “Oh My Lord” comes with six exclusive remixes by a dream team of artists including DJ Spinna, DJ Nature, The Revenge, Ashley Beedle, DJ Rocca and Radius Etc. Big thanks to Danilo for all these unique treasures you bring to listeners ear with each mix. | 1/5/20 | ![]() SOUND COALITIONS / Episode 35: Guest Mix featuring Chelsea Starr | Do you ever notice how some musicians have a style that is reminiscent of the music they play? Chelsea is one of these people. Quirky and fun, yet perfectly put together in its entirety. Pieces so rare that the only way to know their origin is to ask, and even then, you don't wear it like she does! Chelsea's record selection makes you feel the same- she pulls tracks that send you feeling vibes/memories of your past, and puts them together in a way the creates a storyline from a fantasy. That is the mark of an artist who has found her niche. Christopher Foor first experienced this quality of Chelsea's at Gays Hate Techno in 2017. Ten am, dreamy disco and new wave sounds, a hangover from early morning shenanigans, and a set that transitioned listeners from their morning headspace into an afternoon as beautiful as the golden air of Northern California. It is still Christopher's favorite set of the whole festival. It is with this admiration, that Christopher presents a guest mix by Chelsea for Sound Coalitions. Please enjoy the next hour as Chelsea Starr does what she does best- creates your day dream. | — | ||||||

| 8/20/19 | ![]() SOUND COALITIONS / Episode 30: Guest Mix featuring Patrick Walsh | Patrick Walsh, aka Tropico Virgo, is a Miami local with a passion for disco, funk, and leftfield house. He's been Dj'ing since 2008, and has an extensive history influencing the Miami music scene by creating and curating parties that call to alternative genres in electronic music. His first party, Nightdrive, would later on be Christened as the name for a popular music blog. Next, he would work with the Safe parties that rocked the Electric Pickle. He also created Klangbox.fm that showcases artists and their mixes from inside a renovated AirStream RV, and currently books for the Extra Credit parties at Floyd, part of Club Space. In addition to these parties that he curates, he's a resident at the Citadel Miami, and The Standard Hotel Miami Beach. Patrick's music library holds many rare and beautiful gems from the disco and nudisco genres. His sets have a consistency of being fun, dancey, free, and accented by intelligent timing for mixing in a way that plays one track's strength off the other. In addition to his curation and DJ'ing, Patrick is an ally for LGBTQ+, women, non-binary artists, and people of color. He actively works to promote a diverse sound and background of the artists he books for the parties he created. His strong dedication to providing spaces for alternative genres to exist in Miami is complemented by his kind and down to earth demeanor. There is so much knowledge that he has about music, but with his humility, it might take a bit of prying! Thank you to Patrick for keeping the music scene in Miami open to new sounds and artists. After having a family and making ends meet, he is making his passion finally come true. While his passion was on temporary hold, he let early life influences of music, thanks to his Cuban parents, help grow the seeds of his determination to create an appreciation of various genres. | 5/1/19 | ![]() SOUND COALITIONS / Episode 26: Guest Mix featuring Fawks | Christopher Foor is proud to feature his friend Fawks and the Fog City Pack on Sound Coalitions. Fawks and Christopher have been friends for five years, meeting at the Power House bar in SF and other Bay Area kink events. Since their introduction, Christopher admired Fawks' and the pack's devotion to hard work, creative thought, and strategic planning to add something more to the San Francisco music and kink scene- the Fog City Pack. The Fog City Pack has been making waves throughout the BDSM/kink scene including a recent feature in the New York Times and re-envisioned electronic music events. They’ve procured a variety of headlining artists such as DJ Holographic, Jackie House, Clark Price, Brian Rojas, while being backed by residents Fawks, Astro, and Jumpr. Their events create safe places for play, support for kink/BDSM subculture, and quality music from a wide variety of artists and performers. Most notable and perhaps impressive about the group and Fawks, is their kindness and devotion to one another, music, and the scene. Their events and presence simply feel welcome, authentic, and eye opening in the best way. With the waves they’ve been making, it is with deep gratitude we feature Fawks' work on Sound Coalitions. Keep an ear out for the darkness and power of Fawks’ set: smooth transitions working off each baseline's melody and a flow that would help any party get comfortably dark. This is an artist and group to keep a watchful eye on.
