In this month’s episode, we're looking at the benefit of problems, and how they can perform an important role within the belief system in which the mind operates. We're going to look at it from two perspectives - the benefit for the identity, and the benefit for a more aligned experience of being. This month’s episode is an introduction to our May programme, which is all about the intelligence of the mind, how it is liberated and how it comes into its full potential as the most miraculous and capable organ on the entire planet. The direct path is a spiritual approach which considers that the content of experience is a creation of the mind. And for the mind to be in truth, we should turn away from that content to what lies behind all of the experience of being, which is consciousness, intelligence, love. The direct path is completely solid and grounded, and that’s awesome. But the thing is, the mind is still operating in a world where we work, we have family, mortgages to pay or problems with our boss. So if the only truth is what is prior to the mind's creations, what do we do now with this reality? Today, we’re going to explore the gift of the fun house. The title of this episode came about as I remembered how my son experienced the fun house at a yearly fair in our town. For two years in a row he was scared, running into the same mirror and getting bumps on his head, and then the third year he just thought it was boring. Boring is such a good word when it comes to what the mind creates, the enormous roller coaster that the experience of being can go on in the grip of total identification. Today we're looking at the driver to be seen. Everybody wants to be seen, to be heard, to be acknowledged. It provides the temporary feeling of validity, worth, and survival even. And that makes sense when looked at from the belief system of what we are as a separate entity, that can somehow find wholeness through attention and love, regard and respect. In the midst of this tremendous drive to be seen, we use elements at our disposal, such as our work, our body, our looks or our help and support of other people. In this episode we are going to explore the difference between being seen and seeing, and how between the two lies a freedom that sets free all of these elements that would be used in the attempt to solidify the identity, and instead just become what they are. Last week, we looked at one horrible question to ask ourselves in the midst of resentment: What is my equivalent? This week we're looking at an even more horrible question: What is the benefit? It is a horrible question because on the surface, it has the potential to be really dangerous. We need to understand its full power when we are in situations where there’s resentment towards someone or something. Is it possible that we might be benefiting directly from that situation? Because we’re starting a new year, today we're looking at the phrase “New Year, New You.” You can see it throughout all of social media, all of the products, fitness plans, health kicks and diets - all selling the idea that you can create a new “you” through different behaviours. But is that true? Today, we're looking at the difference between peace and alignment, and the shift that happens when finding fake peace is no longer interesting. We have all experienced a strong urge and motivation to find and somehow keep our peace of mind. But if our entire experience of reality is based on our ego identity, on the idea of a separate “me”, it proves to be an impossible task. So why is that, that we try so hard to be at peace and simultaneously we end up further and further away from it?
