How Spiritual Numbness Quietly Takes Over Your Heart | Friend… What if the greatest danger to your spiritual life isn’t obvious rebellion… but a heart that slowly stops feeling? In this episode, we take a deep and honest look at Ezekiel 9—a powerful and sobering passage that reveals how spiritual numbness forms over time, often quietly and unnoticed. We’re not talking about perfection here. We’re talking about something much deeper: 👉 The condition of your heart 👉 Your sensitivity to conviction 👉 And whether you’re still responding when God speaks Because in Ezekiel 9, God makes a distinction—not between perfect people and sinful people… but between those who have grown numb… and those who are still tender. In this episode, we explore: How spiritual numbness slowly takes root in your heart and home Why conviction is actually a gift from the Holy Spirit The meaning behind those who “sigh and groan” over sin How this connects to emotional health and the Unhappy Kid Triangle What it looks like to stay soft, aware, and aligned with God This isn’t about fear or shame. It’s an invitation. To wake up. To realign. To come back to a heart that still feels, responds, and stays close to Him. ✨ You don’t have to be perfect… but you do have to stay tender. xoxo, Danielle 🔗 Next Steps & Resources 👉 Read the companion blog + listen in one place: (Insert your blog link) 👉 Book a Biblical Counseling or Family Coaching session 👉 Get the Happy Kid Toolkit 👉 Join me at the upcoming Renew & Restore Women’s Healing Retreat 👉 Free resource for teens & parents: “You’re Not Alone” devotional | 19m 57s

In Episode 114, I’m talking about something many Christians were never taught how to do: lament. We’ll walk through: What biblical grief actually looks like How we unintentionally minimize pain Why unprocessed grief shows up as anxiety, control, and emotional reactivity How the Unhappy Kid Triangle keeps you stuck And how to move toward healing using the Happy Kid Triangle I also walk through powerful verses from Lamentations 1 and show you how God makes space for your grief—not just your strength. ✨ Read the companion blog here: Stop Minimizing Your Grief: How to Lament, Heal, and Move Forward with God ✨ Book a Biblical Counseling or Family Coaching session with me ✨ Get the Happy Kid Toolkit ✨ Learn about upcoming Renew & Restore Women’s Healing Retreats If this episode encouraged you, please share it and leave a written review—it helps more families find healing. xoxo, Danielle | 23m 06s

When God Says “I’m Not Done”: Healing, Hope, and the Promise of a New Heart | There are seasons in life when grief feels overwhelming… when the pain lingers longer than you expected… and when you quietly wonder, “Why am I still here?” If you’ve ever felt stuck in your healing, discouraged by your progress, or weighed down by what you’ve lost—this episode is for you. In today’s episode, we take a deep, compassionate dive into Book of Jeremiah 31:15–40—a powerful passage that holds both raw grief and radical hope. You’ll hear the haunting image of Rachel weeping… but you’ll also discover the heart of a God who does not rush your pain, shame your weakness, or abandon you in your suffering. Instead, He meets you there. Together, we explore: What it means to grieve with God instead of rushing past it Why your healing may feel slow—and why that doesn’t mean you’re failing How to recognize and replace the lies that often attach themselves to grief The truth about God’s heart toward you in your most broken moments The promise of the New Covenant—and what it means for true, lasting heart transformation This episode is a gentle but powerful reminder: You are not behind. You are not too much. And God is not finished with your story. He is restoring. He is renewing. He is writing truth on your heart—even now. 🌿 Go Deeper ✨Read the companion blog for this episode When Grief Feels Too Heavy to Carry: What Jeremiah 31 Reveals About God’s Heart for the Broken where you can reflect more deeply and move at your own pace. 🤍 If you’re walking through something heavy and want personal support, I’d be honored to come alongside you. We’re uncovering the core beliefs formed in childhood that still shape how you think, feel, and respond in your marriage today. In this powerful and deeply practical episode, I unpack why apologies alone don’t heal relationships—and what real, biblical repentance actually looks like. You’ll learn the difference between worldly sorrow and godly sorrow, how the Unhappy Kid Triangle shows up in conflict, and why true transformation requires more than words—it requires a renewed mind and a changed direction. | 5/20/26 | ![]() 110. When Deception Feels Normal: The Lie You Didn't Know You Were Living From | What if the reason you keep reacting the same way…isn’t because you lack self-control… …but because you’re believing something that isn’t true? Friend, this is a message that has been sitting heavy on my heart—because I see it every day in the counseling room, and if I’m honest, I’ve seen it in my own life too. In The Bible, Isaiah 44 gives us a sobering picture of deception—a man holding something in his hand that he believes will save him… and yet Scripture says: “He could not say, ‘Is there not a lie in my right hand?’” That line has stayed with me. Because so often, we’re not just reacting…we’re reacting from what we believe is true. In this episode, I’m walking you through: How hidden core beliefs shape your emotions, triggers, and relationship patterns Why the same reactions keep showing up (even when you want to change) How this connects to the Unhappy Kid Triangle (UHKT) and the roles we fall into What it actually looks like to begin renewing your mind with God’s truth (Romans 12:2) We’re not just talking about behavior change here. We’re going deeper—into the beliefs underneath it all. Because when deception feels normal…it takes truth to set you free. ✍️ Companion Blog (Read + Listen in One Place) I also wrote a companion blog post that focuses specifically on identifying the lies beneath your reactions and how to begin replacing them with truth: “The Lie Beneath the Reaction: How Hidden Beliefs Shape Your Emotions, Triggers, and Relationships.” If you’re someone who likes to process, journal, or sit with things more slowly, this will be a powerful next step for you. You can it read here 📥 A Free Resource for You If this episode stirred something deeper and you’re ready to begin releasing what you’ve been holding onto, I want to gift you my Letter of Release Guide. | 5/13/26 | ![]() 109. Truth That Heals vs. Comfort That Keeps You Stuck | There is a kind of comfort that feels good in the moment… but quietly keeps you stuck. And if we’re not careful, we can start to prefer feeling better over actually being transformed. In this episode, I’m inviting you into a deeper, more honest conversation about why we resist truth—and how choosing comfort over truth can keep us trapped in painful patterns in our relationships, our thinking, and our emotional responses. We’re walking through Isaiah 30 and uncovering what it means when God’s people said, “Tell us pleasant things…”—and how that same tendency can show up in our lives today. I’m also sharing a powerful and much-needed teaching on admonishing and rebuking—what they actually mean biblically, how they fit within love and grace, and why avoiding them can keep us (and the people we love) stuck in cycles that never truly change. If you’ve ever: Avoided hard conversations to keep the peace Struggled to receive correction without becoming defensive Found yourself repeating the same relational patterns Or felt torn between being “kind” and being truthful This episode is for you. Because God is not asking you to live in illusion… He’s inviting you into truth that heals. 🌿 Read + Listen in One Place I wrote a companion blog for this episode where we go even deeper into this conversation from a different angle: 👉 “When Comfort Keeps You Stuck: Why We Resist the Truth That Heals” 🌿 Ready to Go Deeper? | 5/6/26 | ![]() 108. When Motherhood Feels Overwhelming: Learning to Trust God and Let Go of Control | Motherhood can feel overwhelming—especially when fear, anxiety, and the need to control begin to take over. In this episode, I’m sharing a very personal part of my story from my early days as a single mom—walking through the pain of divorce, the uncertainty of my children’s future, and the quiet fear that can creep in when life feels out of your control. I remember what it felt like to carry so much… and not know how everything would turn out. And as I sat with the Lord recently, He brought me to Psalm 105—not to give me a strategy, but to remind me of something I had forgotten: 👉 The power of remembering His faithfulness. Because when we forget who God is, we start carrying things that were never ours to hold. But when we remember… Everything begins to shift. In this episode, I’m gently walking you through: how fear can quietly drive our parenting why we move into control, striving, or overwhelm how to surrender what isn’t yours to carry and how to trust that God is still writing your child’s story—even when you can’t see it If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed as a mom… if you’ve been trying to hold everything together… I want you to know—you’re not alone in this. 🌿 Companion Blog (Read + Listen in One Place) If you want to slow down and reflect more deeply, I wrote a companion blog for this episode where you can read through the message and process it at your own pace: 👉 When Motherhood Feels Overwhelming: Learning to Trust God and Let Go of Control 💛 If You’re Ready to Go Deeper If this is something you’re walking through right now and you want support, I’d love to walk alongside you. ✨ You can book a biblical counseling or family coaching session with me where we’ll gently uncover what’s driving the overwhelm and help you move toward peace, clarity, and truth. ✨ The Happy Kid Toolkit is also a powerful resource I’ve created to help families grow in emotional regulation, responsibility, and healthy, Christ-centered communication. ✨ And if your heart is longing for a deeper reset, my Renew & Restore Women’s Healing Retreats are sacred spaces where women come to slow down, encounter God, and experience real healing and restoration. 🌱 For Teen Moms & Parents of Hurting Teens If you or your teen are in a hard season, I created something just for you: 💛 You can download my free devotional, “You’re Not Alone” (for Teens & Parents)—a 14-day guided journey to help teens process pain and begin healing, with a parent guide to walk alongside them. 🤍 Final Encouragement Friend… God has not forgotten you. And He has not forgotten your child. Even when it feels uncertain… even when you can’t see what He’s doing… 👉 He is still working. xoxo, Danielle | 19m 37s
| 4/29/26 | ![]() 107. Do I Look Like the World? From Reaction to Transformation (Part 2) | So what happens when you finally see it? You recognize the patterns. You notice the reactions. You realize: 👉 “I don’t want to keep showing up like this…” But then life happens again… And you find yourself right back in it. Reacting. Controlling. Shutting down. If that feels familiar… you’re not alone. And you’re not stuck. This is Part 2 of our two-part series: Do I Look Like the World? A Heart Check for Real Faith In Part 1, we slowed down and took an honest look at what our lives are actually revealing—especially in the moments that are hardest to control. But awareness is just the beginning. In this episode, we’re going deeper into: why we keep falling back into the same patterns what’s really driving our reactions under pressure and what it actually looks like to walk with the Holy Spirit in real time Because transformation doesn’t come from trying harder. It comes from learning how to stay connected. To abide. To surrender. To walk with Him in the very moments you used to react. And this is where everything begins to shift. Want to go deeper? 👉 Read the companion blog: Do I Look Like the World? | 4/22/26 | ![]() 106. Do I Look Like the World? A Heart Check for Real Faith (Part 1) | Have you ever had one of those quiet moments with the Lord… Where He gently asks you a question you can’t ignore? Not to shame you… but to invite you? That’s what happened to me this week. And the question that wouldn’t leave me was this: 👉 If someone really watched my life… would they see Jesus? Or would I look… just like the world? Not on Sunday… but in the everyday moments. In this first part of a two-part series, I’m inviting you into that same honest, Spirit-led reflection. We’re going to slow down and look at: what Scripture actually calls us to what our lives are truly revealing under pressure and the difference between behavior change and real transformation This isn’t about perfection. It’s about awareness. It’s about alignment. It’s about letting the Holy Spirit gently show us what’s real. And if you start to see patterns in your own life… If you notice places where you’re reacting, controlling, or withdrawing… That’s not failure. That’s awareness. In Part 2, we’ll go deeper into why we keep falling back into these patterns—and what it actually looks like to live differently. 💛 Want to go deeper? If this stirred something in your heart… I don’t want you to just move on from it. I want to invite you into the next step. 👉 Read the companion blog: Do I Look Like the World? A Heart Check for Real Faith Sometimes it helps to slow down, sit with Scripture, and reflect more intentionally. This blog will walk you back through these questions and give you space to process what the Holy Spirit may be showing you. 👉 Share this episode with a friend So many women are quietly wrestling with this same question. | 4/15/26 | ![]() 105. God Is Not Who Hurt You: Learning to Trust Him After Father Wounds | What if the hardest part about trusting God… is not your faith—but your story? I want to share something with you that I don’t take lightly. I didn’t grow up with a father who protected me. I grew up in a home where there was abuse—emotional, physical, psychological, and sexual. So when I came to know God and heard, “He is your Father…” That didn’t feel comforting to me. It felt complicated. And maybe… it does for you too. In this episode, I’m opening up about my own journey of learning to separate God’s character from human sin—and why this has been one of the hardest, but most healing parts of my walk with Him. We’re going to gently walk through: Why trusting God can feel so hard after father wounds How your past may be shaping your view of Him What Psalm 118:6 really means when it says, “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear” And how to begin untangling truth from trauma… without forcing trust or rushing healing This is not about trying harder. It’s about slowing down… getting honest… and allowing God to show you who He really is— in a way that feels safe, steady, and real. Go Deeper I also wrote a companion blog for you where you can sit with this more slowly: God Is Not Who Hurt You: Healing Trust and Separating Truth from Trauma If You’re Ready for Next Steps If this is your story, I want you to know—you don’t have to navigate this alone. ✨ You can book a session with me for biblical counseling or family coaching, where we’ll gently walk through your story and begin renewing your mind with truth. 🌿 You can also join me at one of my Renew & Restore Women’s Healing Retreats—a space intentionally created for deep emotional and spiritual healing, connection, and encountering God in a safe and peaceful environment. 🧰 And if you’re looking for a practical place to start, the Happy Kid Toolkit will help you understand your patterns, take thoughts captive, and begin experiencing transformation in your everyday relationships. If this episode spoke to your heart… would you share it with a friend who might need it too? So many women are carrying this quietly. You are not alone in this. And I want you to hear me clearly: God is not who hurt you. xoxo, Danielle | 39m 08s | ||||||
| 4/8/26 | ![]() 104. Why You Feel the Need to Control Everything (and How to Finally Let Go) | Why do you feel the need to control everything… and why does it leave you feeling so anxious, responsible, and exhausted? If you’re honest, it probably doesn’t feel like “control.” It feels like responsibility. Like caring deeply. Like trying to hold your life—and everyone in it—together. But what if the pressure you’re carrying isn’t actually yours to carry? In this episode, we’re going deeper than behavior. We’re uncovering what’s underneath the need to control: 👉 fear 👉 misplaced security 👉 and the belief that “if I don’t manage this… everything will fall apart” Through a powerful, side-by-side look at Psalm 49 and Psalm 84, I’ll walk you through: Why control is often rooted in fear—not strength What you may be trusting that was never meant to hold you The subtle lie that keeps you stuck in anxiety and over-responsibility And how to finally let go… without feeling like your life will unravel This isn’t about becoming passive. And it’s not about “doing less.” It’s about learning how to live from a different place— a place of peace, trust, and true security in God. If you’ve been: overthinking over-functioning or feeling like everything depends on you this episode will meet you right where you are. Want to go deeper? Maybe you’ve asked God to take it away—again and again. And yet… it’s still here. And somewhere deep down, the questions start to rise: God, where are You? Why won’t You heal this? Did I do something wrong? In this episode, I want to sit with you in that space. Not with quick answers. Not with clichés. But with truth that can actually hold you when the pain doesn’t leave. We’re going to walk through Psalm 6 and 2 Corinthians 12:7–10, and I’m going to show you something that changed everything for me: 👉 Sometimes God doesn’t remove the suffering… because He is doing something deeper within it. We’ll talk about: Why suffering is not always a result of sin How God can use affliction to refine, protect, and draw us closer What it means that His grace is sufficient And how Christ’s power is made perfect in your weakness I also share personally about my journey with chronic migraines… and how the Lord has met me—not by taking the pain away, but by sustaining me in it. If you’re tired… if you feel unseen… if you’re carrying something heavy that no one else fully understands… You are not alone. And God is not absent in your suffering. | 3/25/26 | ![]() 102. Attachment + the Gospel: Understanding Your Child's Emotional Needs | Sometimes the most painful realizations in parenting come years later. Our children grow older. They become teenagers, young adults, or even parents themselves. And somewhere along the way we begin to see things more clearly. We remember moments when we were overwhelmed… Times when we reacted in frustration… Seasons when we may not have been as emotionally present as our children needed. And many parents quietly carry a heavy question in their hearts: Did I miss my chance? In this episode, we explore the powerful connection between attachment and the Gospel—how the relationships children experience with their parents shape their sense of safety, identity, and belonging. We talk about: What attachment really is and why it matters How children develop core beliefs about themselves through relationships The emotional needs God designed children to have Why no parent gets it perfectly right And most importantly, how healing and repair are still possible—even when your children are older Because the message of Scripture is not perfection. It’s restoration. Through humility, repentance, and a willingness to step off unhealthy relational patterns like the Unhappy Kid Triangle, parents can begin moving toward truth, responsibility, and repair. And when parents change, something powerful often begins to shift in families. God is still able to restore what feels broken. Your story is not finished. Continue the Conversation If this episode resonated with your heart, I invite you to read the companion blog post where we go even deeper into the process of repairing relationships with older children: “It’s Not Too Late: How Parents Can Repair Broken Relationships with Their Children.” Resources for Families If you want practical tools to help your family build emotional responsibility, healthy communication, and biblical conflict resolution, you can explore the Happy Kid Toolkit. When Leaders Silence Truth: 1 Kings 22, Church Hurt, and the Courage to Walk Away | Have you ever been in a spiritual environment where everyone seemed to agree… but something in your spirit told you something wasn’t right? In this episode, Danielle walks through the powerful and sobering story of Micaiah and King Ahab in 1 Kings 22 — a moment in Scripture that reveals how unhealthy leadership dynamics can develop when truth becomes unwelcome. When 400 prophets told King Ahab exactly what he wanted to hear, one lone prophet stood up and spoke the truth. For that courage, he was mocked, struck, and imprisoned. This story isn’t just ancient history. It speaks directly to the realities many believers face today when navigating spiritual authority, church hurt, manipulation, and the cost of standing in truth. In this episode, Danielle explores: What 1 Kings 22 reveals about spiritual leadership and discernment How unhealthy systems form when leaders surround themselves with affirming voices How the Unhappy Kid Triangle can show up in spiritual environments Why truth-tellers are often labeled “divisive” or “negative” Practical steps for setting healthy boundaries when dealing with controlling or spiritually abusive leadership How to step off unhealthy relational dynamics and walk in wisdom, courage, and peace If you’ve ever questioned your instincts, felt silenced for asking honest questions, or struggled to process church hurt, this conversation offers both biblical clarity and compassionate encouragement. | 3/11/26 | ![]() 100. Failure Is Not the End of the Story: Building a Road Home for Our Families | Today’s episode is a special one. This is Episode 100 of The Happy Family Coach Podcast, and I want to begin by saying thank you. Thank you for showing up week after week, for sharing these conversations with others, and for doing the courageous work of healing in your own life and family. Over the past hundred episodes we’ve talked about faith, family, emotional health, generational patterns, and what it looks like to live in truth and freedom. And today we’re talking about something that sits at the heart of all of it: Failure is not the end of the story. In this episode, we explore Solomon’s prayer in 1 Kings 8, where he does something remarkable. As he dedicates the temple, he assumes something many of us struggle to accept: People will fail. Children will fail. Leaders will fail. Families will fail. But instead of praying for perfection, Solomon prays for something far more powerful — a clear pathway back to God. Together we talk about what it looks like to build families where repentance is safe, where confession restores connection, and where the road home is always visible. Because children often learn how God responds to failure by watching how we respond to theirs. If you’ve ever wondered: • How do I help my child recover after they make a mistake? • How do I correct behavior without creating shame? • Why do so many adults struggle to return to God after failure? • What does a repentance-centered home actually look like? This conversation is for you. I’ve also written a companion blog article: Failure is Not the End of the Story for this episode where I expand on these ideas and offer additional reflection and practical encouragement for parents and families. If you’re in a season where your family needs deeper support, I offer Biblical Counseling and Family Coaching for individuals, couples, parents, and teens who want to break unhealthy patterns and build healthier, Christ-centered relationships. You can learn more or book a session through my website. And throughout the year, I host intimate women’s healing retreats where we slow down, step away from the noise of everyday life, and create space for deeper healing, reflection, and renewal. If gathering in a peaceful environment with other women who are pursuing healing sounds life-giving, you can always find information about upcoming retreats on my website. Thank you again for being here for Episode 100. I’m so grateful you’re part of this community and that we get to walk this journey of healing and faith together. Remember: Failure is not the end of the story. The road home is always there. xoxo, Danielle | 24m 14s | ||||||
| 3/4/26 | ![]() 99. Fear Is a Terrible Architect | What happens when fear becomes the architect of our homes? In 1 Kings 6, Solomon builds the temple — the dwelling place of God’s presence. But what struck me most in studying this chapter wasn’t just the structure… it was the spirit in which it was built. Quiet formation. Intentional design. Hidden holiness. No panic. No pressure. No performance. And I couldn’t help but ask: What kind of house are we building in our homes? As a biblical counselor and family coach, I sit with parents every week who love God deeply and genuinely want their children to follow Jesus. But sometimes, without even realizing it, fear begins shaping the culture of the home — fear of rebellion, fear of failure, fear of drifting. Fear tightens. Fear controls. Fear builds pressure. But fear is a terrible architect. In this episode, I explore the difference between structure and control, reverence and rigidity, sacred and stressful faith. We’ll talk about what it looks like to move from managing behavior to forming hearts — and how to build homes where God’s presence feels safe, not heavy. And if you prefer to read, reflect, or share written content, I’ve also written an accompanying blog post that goes deeper into the story behind this episode — including a personal reflection from Roma, Italy and what it has taught me about building what lasts. You can find that link here: Fear is a Terrible Architect If you’ve ever wrestled with the tension between rules and relationship… If you’ve wondered whether your children experience faith as sacred or stressful… If you’re longing to break generational cycles of fear-based parenting… This conversation is for you. Let’s rebuild from the inside out. xoxo, Danielle Want to Go Deeper? AI has changed the way images are created, stories are told, and narratives spread. What looks real may not be true. What feels urgent may not deserve our reaction. And too often, people act—especially online—before stopping to discern what is actually true. In this episode, I talk honestly about why discernment is no longer optional, especially for this generation. We explore discernment as a gift of the Holy Spirit, not a personality trait, and why wisdom, restraint, and truth matter more than ever in a digital age. This is not a fear-based conversation. It’s a protective one. We talk about: Navigating social media and AI with wisdom, not panic Why privacy is not hiding, but stewardship and protection The very real dangers of false accusations, manufactured shame, and online reactivity How words, images, and reposts carry moral and spiritual weight What parents must model if we want our teens to think clearly and respond wisely I also share how we can shift from control to formation—teaching our children how to think, not just what to avoid—and why anchoring identity in truth is one of the greatest protections we can offer our kids today. This episode is meant to slow you down, steady you, and equip you—not overwhelm you. 📖 Accompanying Blog Article: Discernment in a World Where Truth Can Be Fabricated: Why Wisdom, Privacy, and Spiritual Formation Matter More Than Ever The blog goes deeper into the formation side of this conversation and is a great companion piece if you want to reflect, journal, or continue the discussion with your teen or spouse. You can read purchase the Happy Kid Toolkit and book a biblical counseling or family coaching session from one place at happyfamilycoach.com. If this episode resonates, I’d love for you to share it with another parent who needs wisdom—not fear—in this season. 🤍 xoxo, Danielle | 20m 00s | ||||||
| 2/18/26 | ![]() 97. When the Wicked Seem to Win: Holding Faith in the Face of Injustice | What do you do when people who caused real harm appear to thrive— while you’re left carrying the cost? What happens to faith when justice feels delayed, silence feels loud, and doing the right thing feels painfully expensive? In this deeply honest and trauma-aware episode, I walk slowly through Psalm 73, a psalm written for believers who are weary, wounded, and wrestling with injustice. Together, we name the pain of watching the wicked seem to prosper, explore why our longing for justice is so deeply rooted in the heart of God, and discover how God’s presence steadies us when answers don’t come quickly. This episode is especially for those who have experienced: spiritual abuse or betrayal church hurt or abuse of authority delayed justice and unresolved pain envy, comparison, or faith under strain the temptation toward cynicism, hardness, or self-protection Rather than offering platitudes or rushing healing, Psalm 73 invites us into something quieter—and stronger: nearness to God that anchors the soul while we wait for justice. I can’t wait to hear what you think about todays episode! xoxo, Danielle P.S. This episode is paired with a companion blog post titled: “When the Wicked Seem to Win: Holding Faith in the Face of Injustice.” The blog allows you to slow down, reread key truths, and return to this message when the ache resurfaces. | 2/11/26 | ![]() 96. Fully Known, Deeply Loved, and Never Abandoned | In this episode, I slow way down and sit with one of the most intimate passages in all of Scripture—Psalm 139. I talk honestly about what it means to be fully known by God—and why that truth can feel deeply comforting for some of us, yet unsettling or even threatening for others. For many of us, being known has not felt safe. It meant correction instead of care, performance instead of presence, or carrying responsibility that never belonged to us. So when Scripture says God knows us completely, our nervous system may brace instead of rest. In this episode, I walk through Psalm 139 with a trauma-informed, faith-based lens and explore how early family dynamics, shame, neglect, and survival roles shape the way we experience God’s nearness and authority. You’ll hear me talk about: Why God’s knowing can feel comforting—or threatening—depending on your story How trauma and family systems influence our view of God The difference between survival roles and secure identity How the Unhappy Kid Triangle forms—and how secure love leads us into the Happy Kid Triangle What it looks like to move from hiding, control, and defensiveness into presence, connection, and mature leadership Why Psalm 139 isn’t a call to try harder, but an invitation to rest deeper I also share practical, Spirit-led tools to support your healing and growth, including: Read the accompanying blog post: Psalm 139 and the Ache to Be Known Without Fear The Discover Your Go-To Position on the Unhappy Kid Triangle quiz The Healing Mirror practice for gentle inner reflection The Happy Kid Toolkit for walking out real change in everyday life Book a Biblical Counseling or Family Coaching Session with me This episode is for anyone who longs to be seen without fear, loved without conditions, and known without shame. | 2/4/26 | ![]() 95. Is God Strong Enough to Protect Me—and Gentle Enough to Trust? | What if God’s power isn’t something to fear—but something your nervous system has been longing for? In this episode, we walk slowly through Psalm 68, a bold and moving psalm that redefines strength, authority, and leadership through the lens of protection, presence, and care for the vulnerable. Many of us carry complicated relationships with power—shaped by unpredictable authority, control, absence, or harm. So when Scripture speaks of a mighty God who “arises,” our bodies may brace instead of rest. Psalm 68 offers a different picture. Here we meet a God whose strength protects instead of controls. A God whose authority moves toward the vulnerable. A God who walks with His people through unresolved seasons rather than waiting at the finish line. This episode is especially for those who: struggle with anxiety or hypervigilance find authority difficult to trust have been wounded by misuse of power feel stuck in long, unresolved seasons are learning to move from reaction to rest We’ll explore how God holds salvation and justice together, why true victory creates closeness rather than distance, and how Psalm 68 beautifully aligns with the Happy Kid Toolkit—revealing a model of secure leadership that brings calm instead of chaos. This is not a call to strive harder. It’s an invitation to stop bracing and discover a God who is both strong and safe. xoxo, Danielle 💛 Want to go deeper? ➡️ Read the full blog: Is God Strong Enough to Protect Me—and Gentle Enough to Trust? ➡️ Listen on: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Podbean | YouTube ➡️ Book a family coaching or biblical counseling session with me: happyfamilycoach.com ➡️ Purchase the Happy Kid Toolkit: happykidtoolkit.com ➡️ Schedule a FREE on-air family counseling session with me. In this episode, we move beyond awareness and into responsibility—exploring what emotional maturity actually looks like in real life. Not in theory. Not in perfect conditions. But in real conversations, real conflict, and real relationships. This episode brings together everything from Episodes 91–93 and answers the question many people quietly ask: “I understand myself better now… so why do I still struggle to respond wisely?” You’ll learn: Why awareness alone doesn’t create lasting change The true difference between reaction and response How emotional honesty and responsibility can coexist What responding with wisdom looks like in families, marriages, and everyday relationships If you’ve done the inner work but still find yourself freezing, overcorrecting, or falling back into old patterns, this episode is for you. | 1/21/26 | ![]() 93. Your Emotions Are Talking | If you’re anything like most of us, you feel things before you ever have time to think about them. Anger, anxiety, overwhelm, sadness—they show up fast, and often louder than we expect. And somewhere along the way, many of us were taught either to ignore our emotions or let them run the show. Neither leads to healing. In this episode, I want to help you see your emotions differently—not as enemies or weaknesses, but as messengers. They’re often pointing to something deeper: a belief, a wound, a boundary, or a value that matters to you. We’ll talk about what emotions are really telling us, how our nervous system and past experiences shape our reactions, and why Scripture calls us to seek God’s Kingdom first—even emotionally. I’ll also share how Jesus modeled emotional honesty without being led by His feelings, and how learning to listen to emotions (without obeying them) can interrupt reactive cycles in our families and relationships. If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t even know why I feel this way,” this episode is for you. My hope is that it helps you slow down, get curious, and respond with wisdom instead of reacting from the moment. I’ve also written a companion blog post for this episode if you’d like to reflect more quietly, and I share resources like the Happy Kid Toolkit and my Renew & Restore Women’s Healing Retreat for those who feel ready to go deeper. | 1/14/26 | ![]() 92. Taking Every Thought Captive: How to Interrupt Reactive Family Cycles of Dysfunction | Most family reactions don’t start with behavior—they start with a thought. In this episode, I’m slowing everything down and inviting you into the moment most families miss: the space between a trigger and a reaction. That pause—however small—is where Scripture tells us real change is possible. Rooted in 2 Corinthians 10:5, this conversation moves beyond awareness into practice, exploring what it actually means to take thoughts captive in real time—without suppressing emotions, bypassing pain, or shaming yourself for reacting. We’ll talk about: Why reactions feel instant and out of your control How thoughts shape emotions and drive family dynamics The pause that interrupts reactive cycles What to do after you’ve already reacted How one person’s pause can shift the atmosphere of an entire home This episode is a companion to the blog post “The Pause That Changes Everything: How to Interrupt Reactive Family Cycles,” where I offer additional reflection, practical exercises, and Scripture to help you slow down and practice this in real life. I also share how these principles are practiced through the Happy Kid Toolkit, and extend a personal invitation to women and adolescent girls (17+) to join me at my upcoming Women’s Healing Retreat this February. Transforming Your Family Through Renewed Minds (Romans 12:2) | What if the hardest moments in your family aren’t signs that something is wrong… but invitations to think differently? So many families love God deeply— and still feel stuck in the same cycles of conflict, emotional reactivity, shutdown, control, or exhaustion. Not because they aren’t trying hard enough… but because unexamined thought patterns quietly shape daily reactions. In this episode, I’m inviting you into a deeper conversation about what real transformation looks like—the kind that doesn’t start with behavior charts, discipline strategies, or fixing your kids… but with the renewing of the mind, just as Scripture teaches in Romans 12:2. We’ll talk about: • Why behavior change alone never brings lasting peace • How hidden lies fuel emotional reactions in both parents and kids • What renewing the mind actually looks like in everyday family life • How emotional maturity is part of biblical discipleship • Why the Holy Spirit—not willpower—is the source of lasting change This episode is for parents, couples, and caregivers who are weary of repeating the same patterns and are longing for a calmer, more connected home rooted in truth and grace. You don’t need a perfect family. You don’t need more pressure. You need a renewed way of thinking.
