I got out of federal prison over 20 years ago. I was married. Had my wife leave me while I was in. I was a millionaire when I went in and came out broke. She took everything. I was fueled by rage, hurt, anger, and I made it my mission to prove everyone wrong who fucked me over. I was cut so deep, I was turned into a monster. I had to convert all that into reading books, learning, growing, and earning. Around 2018, I wasn't mad anymore at those people. I had worked my way into millions. Driving my favorite cars. Life got good. I had attracted a woman I love and who loves me. Added onto my family. The thing that fueled me wasn't there anymore once I got everything I wanted. I had to find a new source of fuel. Anger and rage are good motivators in the beginning, but it burns fast and hot. When I refueled, I had to do it from a place of abundance. I did it with my core values: Responsibility Integrity Service Excellence In order to do this, I had to shed the anger and rage and replace them with abundance and gratitude. If you want to keep rolling down the highway, you need a Rolls or Cadillac to do it smoothly. Hot Rods burn out. Slow and steady wins the race. My ranch hand is a guy who I did a little federal time with in prison. He's got a tattoo on his neck that says "1%er." This comes from a phrase citing it's not others you have to look out for....it's the one percent that will cause the most damage. You have to look out for them. This got me thinking so I aske Grok what it meant for a human being to be the elite 1%. It started identifying my strengths. I work out and can press 250 pounds. I'm just below the one percent for my age. My weight, and body fat.......sitting in the 1% at 45 years of age. I asked about my business and shared my assets, income, and it shot back that I'm in the 1% of business owners. What does 1% mean to you? Get clear on that and focus on what has to happen for you to be the 1% you want to be. Everyone should strive for this. I look back over the last few years of my life and I've spoken on big stages next to some pretty big names. Andy Frisella Ed Mylett David Goggins. And while this has been very impressive and a huge highlight in my life, I have a new found appreciation. I bought a ranch a few years ago, and I recently hosted a Man Camp for Dads and sons. We taught them everything from working with knives, guns (I just taught, and did NOT hold a firearm), educated them on the farm ecosystem, got up locase with the cows, rode ATVs, fished, did some grilling out, and walked the land a bit. There was nothing more rewarding than teaching kids things you can't learn on an electronic device. Seeing their Dads spend time with them without interference or checking their phones was priceless. We provided an experience that will stay with those 12 kids and 10 Dads forever. There's no better time spent than taking in nature under the sun in open fields. I'm not sure when I'll have the next event like this (probably not in the summer), but when I do, I hope you get a chance to take advantage of it. It doesn't have to be with me, but if you're fortunate to create that space for you and your children in your life, it's one I promise you won't regret. The best part, no one got hurt. Some of the kids left holding their heads a bit higher having learned new, practical skills and feeling great about themselves. Build confident children. They're the adults of tomorrow. I have it on good authority that the Congress and President are working to repeal Dodd Frank and the regulations that have been handed down over Lending standards in our country. It's been throttling our economy for far too many years and was presented under the guise of protecting consumers. It was one of the biggest moves of greed (shoutout and RIP John McCain). They're about to open up a new sub-prime boom in order to reignite our housing and economy to allow people to own homes again. This will allow poeple to get into the right home at the right price. This is part of the bill that will repeal taxation on tip income. Offer tax incentives for everyone else. What I will tell you this time.......... Save your money. Be prepared. One of the best things that ever happened to me was being given up by my real dad. The next best thing was being abused by my step-dad. I know, it sounds dark, but here's what happened as a result: When my kids arrived on this planet, it pushed me to not quit on myself. When another child was introduced into my life (Amy's son Asher), I took on the role of including him and even successfully adopting him. (I know what it's like when people quit on me; I wasn't going to do that to him) As a result of having these children in my life, I had a chance to be the father I didn't have. I'm not completely shitting on my 2 dads............I did learn some good things from each one of them, but the biggest gift they gave me was the clarity needed to become the Dad I needed. I became that Dad. If you told me tomorrow was my last day on this planet, and asked me one of my greatest accomplishments, it would be being a father to my children and excelling in this area. My kids are good kids. They have manners and use them. They know how to operate heavy equipment and are responsible with it. They're good to other kids and teach them things I've taught them. Their main objective is to outlive me and out perform me during their lifetimes. They're already ahead of the game. Here's my message to Dads who may feel they're coming up short in their kids' lives........ It's not too late. Be the Dad you needed. Be present. Be helpful. Be a good teacher. That's all you have to do. It's really that simple. I don't know what you've heard about me, but it's probably true. I've been married 4 times and divorced 3. I've been to both federal and state prison. I've got every reason to be a piece of shit Dad, husband, and businessman. I'm grateful to be free. I'm a good father. Good husband. Good businessman. Every week, I log tons of hours behind my desk, at my computer. I'm pounded by blue screen time every single day, but I have to recharge. Every Saturday, for the last 3 years, I've run to my ranch in Oklahoma. It's a quiet, and beautiful space with winding roads and rolling plains. There I have ponds, ATV roads, a river, cattle, fish, and everything else you can imagine. It's my workplace for my body. While I work out every single morening, getting outside and getting dirty is required. There's always something to collect, piles of wood from fallen branches or trees, fires to start, cows to check on, and grass to cut. I have no shortage of things to do. I leave my phone and take off to the wide open spaces every single week. I've found it's been hugely beneficial for my mental health and my physical well-being. It keeps me connected to to planet and I look forward to the end of the weekend when I'm physically tired from the work, but mentally recharged to solve problems during the week. At minimum, I would suggest you spend a full day doing some type of manual labor every single week. It's juicing for the soul. Get you some.
