| 8/19/26 |  Shatha Elnakib on the future of maternal and child health in Afghanistan | Since the Taliban took control in Afghanistan again in 2021, women have been prevented from studying and therefore from training to provide services to mothers, newborns, and children. Dr. Shatha Elnakib and colleagues used the LiST (Lives Saved Tool) modelling system, to illustrate what effects this might have on the workforce, the acceptability of predominantly-male led MNCH services to service users, and the subsequent effects on maternal and child mortality from a lack of care-seeking.
