| 4/7/26 | ![]() What Your Blood Can Tell You About Cancer, Candida, Heavy Metals, and Cellular Healing | I finally got my live blood analysis done, and my mom, a registered nurse with 42 years of experience and 30+ years in live cell analysis, was the one holding the microscope. Safe to say, there was nowhere to hide.**WANT TO CHECK OUT THE LIVE VIDEO: **WATCH HERELive blood analysis is one of the most powerful functional health tools available because it shows you what standard lab work simply cannot. It can detect hormone imbalances, heavy metals, candida and parasites, mineral deficiencies, adrenal stress, oxidative damage, viral activity, and bacterial overgrowth… all happening at the cellular level, before symptoms become impossible to ignore.Live cell analysis looks at what is inside the cell, meaning what your body is actually absorbing and using, not just what is floating around in the bloodstream. In my own blood, we spotted undigested food particles (a classic sign of leaky gut), uric acid, mycoplasma, candida, and signs of mineral depletion likely connected to caffeine and overtraining. Nothing alarming, but everything worth addressing. One of the most powerful moments in this episode is when she shared images from one of the very first cancer patients I ever worked with, a man given one month to live after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma and T cell lymphoma. She captured his blood back then and compared it to his blood years later after consistent naturopathic therapies. The transformation was undeniable. His cells told the story of a body that chose to fight and won.Live blood analysis bridges the gap between how someone feels and what is actually happening inside the body at a cellular level. In some cases, patterns seen in live blood can even flag urgent situations, helping guide someone to seek immediate medical care when truly needed. | 3/31/26 | ![]() Gut Health, Sugar, and What Cancer Cells Are Actually Doing in Your Body | There are so many layers to gut health, and it is something every single person needs to understand, whether you are navigating an active cancer diagnosis, managing medications, or just trying to feel better in your body.Every healthy cell has insulin receptors. That is how cells take sugar and get it into the cell. When someone is insulin-resistant, sugar stays high in the bloodstream because it is not getting into the cells effectively. When you look at cancer cells, they have damaged mitochondria and damaged metabolism. Cancer cells try to overcompensate, and they have two to three times as many insulin receptors on their cells. Cancer cells not only want it more, but they also do not know what to do with it.Everybody has over 30 strains of candida, which is healthy and normal. But when there is overgrowth, you start craving sugar even more, your energy drops, and you may experience more bloating or digestive issues. Any medication someone is taking also creates dysbiosis in the gut. Even people on the strictest diet with no sugar, just being on a medication, can change the microbiome to be more of this candida state.1 in 3 people actually has parasites without having any symptoms at all. People who have really stubborn issues with parasites and candida usually have heavy metals as the root cause. Binders and sweating as often as possible are such a big deal.Inflammation is the biggest driver of disease. Focusing on foods highest in polyphenols and bitters, doing a 16-hour fast every night, and having a protocol in place that addresses parasites and candida at the root is how you start to see real shifts. The goal is not restriction. The goal is to look at food as pure nutrition and ask: is this healthy for me, and does it have vitamins and nutrients? It is about finding that happy medium where you are not feeling deprived while keeping growth factors low and supporting your immune system from the inside out.-This is a clip for the March 2026 Masterclass. | 3/24/26 | ![]() Answering Your Top Questions on Fasting, Hormones, Detox, and Immune Health | I have been getting a lot of the same health questions lately, especially as we enter the new year, so I wanted to answer them clearly and in one place. Is it okay to take supplements while fasting, and which ones actually support detox and autophagy? I explain why fasting is such a powerful tool, why you do not need to take everything while fasting, and which supplements can support detox pathways without stressing the body. What actually breaks a fast? I walk through how fiber, binders, oils, coffee, and even lemon can impact blood sugar, and why testing your own glucose response is the most reliable way to know what works for your body. Why do I avoid suppressing coughs? I talk about why coughs are information, how reflux, low stomach acid, and infection can all present as a chronic cough, and what it means to support the body rather than silence a symptom. What natural tools help fight infection and inflammation? I share how I use demulcent herbs, natural antimicrobials, frankincense, and castor oil to support healing while protecting the microbiome. How do I use frankincense and colloidal silver? I explain when these tools may be appropriate, how I think about dosing, and why natural options can be effective when used intentionally. What truly supports female hormone balance? I break down estrogen dominance, progesterone depletion, low testosterone, and why chronic stress and cortisol dysregulation can override even the best nutrition. What is the most reliable way to test for heavy metals? I explain why blood tests often miss metals, why provoked urine testing is preferred, and how metals are stored in tissue rather than circulating freely.Does regular parasite cleansing make sense? I talk about common symptoms, full moon flares, gut stagnation, and when natural protocols may be appropriate. Why do gut motility and the nervous system matter so much for immunity? I explain how constipation, stress, and the fight-or-flight response affect detoxification, lymphatic flow, and the body’s ability to heal. This is about understanding why symptoms show up, supporting the body’s intelligence, and making health decisions rooted in physiology rather than suppression.JOIN THE VIP HEALING EXPERIENCE and let's create a plan that works for your body and its healing process. | 3/17/26 | ![]() 3 Lessons Illness, Cancer, & Death Teach Us About Living | Facing a serious illness or the end of a loved one's life is one of the hardest challenges we can endure. I'm sharing 3 powerful lessons about life, gratitude, and the healing process that I have learned through my clinical practice and my personal journey with my aging dog. These insights are designed to help you shift your perspective from fear to peace.Watching those we love grow old or face a difficult diagnosis can be overwhelming. As a naturopathic doctor with 17 years of experience, I have always felt compelled to fix and improve health, but I have come to realize that everyone has their own timeline.Understanding that death is not a failure is the first step toward releasing guilt and appreciating the life we have right now.And why your effort should never be measured solely by the outcome of a disease.I often see how chronic illness forces us to slow down and find a deeper sense of gratitude. I've seen this firsthand with a patient navigating life after surgery. We look at how physical limitations can actually lead to stronger family bonds and a renewed appreciation for the simple things. Gratitude is not just a morning exercise; it is a state of being that comes from recognizing how fragile and temporary life truly is.Finally, I explain the philosophy behind the deep healing process. It is about more than just medical interventions or killing cancer cells. It is about resetting your metabolic health and finding your purpose. Whether you are facing a health challenge or supporting someone else, these lessons will help you shift your focus from merely surviving to truly living with intention and peace. | 3/10/26 | ![]() How to Reduce Fatigue, Inflammation, and Stress in Cancer Care | Many people facing a serious diagnosis do what feels logical. They take supplements, change their diet, try detox protocols, and follow advice from different experts and clinics. The problem is usually not a lack of effort. The problem is overload and confusion. When everything feels important, nothing is prioritized.I strongly believe better outcomes come from less chaos and more clarity, and being laser-focused on the root metabolic drivers. The body has limited bandwidth. Every therapy requires energy. Detox pathways require energy. Your mitochondria require energy. Your immune response requires energy. Even fasting requires energy. When someone is stacking dozens of supplements, trying several diets, and attempting multiple detox protocols, the system becomes overloaded instead of supported. Chronic stress chemistry directly influences disease biology. High cortisol drives inflammation, suppresses the immune response, and can cause fluctuations in glucose levels.Seventeen years ago, my very first patient in clinical practice as a naturopathic doctor was a man with multiple myeloma who had been told he had one month to live. Sitting in a wheelchair with severe kidney failure after years of chemotherapy, the focus could not be on throwing more therapies at his body. The focus had to be on asking what his body could realistically handle and on creating a strategic, simplified plan.Through the Deep Healing Method, I help clear the confusion many patients experience when they arrive with multiple protocols, multiple doctors, and dozens of supplements. Instead of adding more interventions, we focus on the metabolic drivers that matter most, such as inflammation markers, glucose regulation, kidney function, and nutrient status. When the noise is reduced and the focus returns to the root metabolic drivers, the body finally has room to respond. Less chaos. More clarity. Better momentum in your cancer care. JOIN THE VIP HEALING EXPERIENCE and let's create a plan that works for your body and its healing process. | 3/3/26 | ![]() How Stress and Sex Hormones Affect Cancer Growth | If you have been blaming your hormones for every symptom and still not getting real answers, this one is for you.Dry skin, no libido, insomnia, brain fog, hot flashes, mood swings, joint stiffness and unexplained pain are not just signs of getting older. They are your body signaling that something in the hormone pathway needs support. We go deep into how estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and cortisol are all connected and why pushing one hormone without addressing the others can actually work against your healing. We cover the pregnenolone steal, why chronic stress is one of the biggest drivers of hormone imbalance in cancer survivors, and how your liver, gut health, thyroid, vitamin D levels, and genetics all play a role in how your body produces and breaks down these hormones. We also get into what the Dutch hormone test reveals that standard blood work simply cannot, the critical difference between protective and harmful estrogen metabolites, and why healthy dietary cholesterol is actually essential for every single hormone your body makes. For cancer survivors navigating perimenopause, surgical menopause, estrogen dominance, or hormone-positive cancer, we cover what the current research says about bioidentical hormone therapy and vaginal estrogen. We also walk through the most important nutrients and herbs for hormone balance, including magnesium, zinc, milk thistle, DIM, ashwagandha, and flaxseed, so you can support your body without feeding cancer growth pathways.Your hormones are not working against you. | 2/24/26 | ![]() 3 Shifts That Helped Her Heal After Cancer When Labs Were “Normal” | She did everything right. Surgery. Chemotherapy. All the follow-ups. Clear scans. Her oncologist said, you’re fine. Her labs were normal. But she still felt inflamed, exhausted, anxious, like her body never fully recovered. This is a real case of a woman in her mid-forties with aggressive neuroendocrine cancer who completed standard of care and was declared cancer-free, yet her inflammatory markers were through the roof. She had debilitating fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, recurrent sinus infections, and could not tolerate fasting or ketosis. She felt overwhelmed by everything she read online and too exhausted to curate a plan for herself.I break down the three key drivers that stalled her healing: hidden mold exposure and immune suppression via T regulatory cells; suboptimal vitamin D and fat-soluble vitamin absorption linked to bile flow and liver function; and an elevated aluminum and mercury burden with sluggish detox pathways. We look at why normal labs are not the same as optimal, how chronic inflammation and toxins alter the tumor microenvironment, and why immune balance matters more than simply stimulating the immune system.Conventional medicine is brilliant at acute care. What it does not address is what is suppressing immune intelligence, blocking nutrient absorption, and preventing true resilience after treatment. This is where metabolic system-based medicine, advanced testing, and pattern recognition become non-negotiable.If you are cancer-free on paper but do not feel well in your body, or you want to reduce your risk of recurrence by addressing terrain, inflammation, detoxification, and immune regulation, this conversation will shift how you think about long-term healing and cancer prevention. If you want the full list of metabolic labs and optimal ranges for cancer prevention and recovery, download the Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide HERE and start looking at your lab results through a different lens.Let's see if we’re a good fit working together! | 2/17/26 | ![]() Why Normal Lab Results Are Dangerous in Cancer Care | Normal lab results are the biggest lie in cancer care.If you are told your blood work is normal, we need to ask normal compared to who? The average population where metabolic disease is exploding, insulin resistance is common, chronic inflammation is everywhere, and one in two people will face cancer in their lifetime. That is the benchmark being used for your lab reference ranges.I see people walk into my clinic with a stage four cancer diagnosis after being told for years their labs were normal. They believed they were healthy because their blood work fell within the reference range. Here is what that actually means. Lab reference ranges are based on the middle 95 percent of the population. If your ferritin is a six, you are told it is normal, even if you are exhausted and your hair is falling out. If your fasting insulin is in the high-normal range, it can still promote growth signaling, increase IGF-1 activation, and reduce apoptosis. If your CRP is under three, it is considered normal, even though chronic inflammation at that level is associated with tumor growth, angiogenesis, and cancer recurrence. If your vitamin D is barely sufficient, your immune system may not have the support it needs for proper cell differentiation and immune surveillance.Normal does not mean optimal. Normal does not mean low cancer risk. Normal does not mean metabolically healthy. If you are fighting cancer, in remission, or working to reduce your cancer risk, your goal is optimal metabolic health. Low fasting insulin. Low inflammation. Proper vitamin D levels. A terrain that does not fuel abnormal cell growth. If you want the full list of metabolic labs and optimal ranges for cancer prevention and recovery, download the Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide HERE and start looking at your lab results through a different lens.Let's see if we’re a good fit working together! | 2/10/26 | ![]() What You Need About Alternative Cancer Treatments | Discover why cancer is not just a genetic disease but a metabolic one, and learn how personalized, science-based care can make all the difference.Peptides, methylene blue, and red light therapy are trending in cancer care, but most people are not being told when these tools are appropriate and when they can be risky. Social media often presents them as universally helpful, without considering medications, genetics, metabolic state, or treatment timing.Peptides are not cancer treatments. They are cellular messengers, and in cancer care the wrong signal at the wrong time can do harm. Some peptides influence immune communication or tissue repair, which is why dosing, timing, and oversight matter. These are tools that require careful integration, not experimentation.Methylene blue can support mitochondrial function at specific doses, but it carries serious contraindications, including medication interactions and G6PD deficiency, that must be screened for. Dose matters. Context matters. This is not something to use casually without medical review.Red light therapy depends on wavelength, placement, frequency, and the body's metabolic state. It can be supportive in certain situations, but it is not appropriate for everyone and should never be applied without understanding the underlying physiology.Cancer is not simply genetic. It is a metabolic disease influenced by immune regulation, mitochondrial damage, inflammation, and nervous system stress. Healing is not about stacking protocols or following trends. It requires precision, screening, and individualized care.Let's see if we’re a good fit working together! | 2/3/26 | ![]() How Detoxing the Body May Lower Inflammation and Cancer Risk | I’m breaking down what detox actually means, how the body eliminates toxins, and why supporting detox pathways is critical for inflammation, immune function, and long-term health.I explain how detox works through the liver, gut, kidneys, lungs, skin, and lymphatic system, and why symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, headaches, hormone disruption, frequent illness, and poor recovery can signal toxic or pathogenic overload even when standard bloodwork looks normal.I’m sharing how genetic differences affect detox pathways and drug metabolism, why some medications, chemotherapy agents, heavy metals, and environmental chemicals can persist in the body for years, and how slow clearance can increase systemic stress and cancer risk over time.We cover why liver detox must be supported in phases, how mobilizing toxins without proper elimination can worsen symptoms, and why aggressive detox protocols often backfire.I also walk through how to support daily detox in a realistic way using simple morning, afternoon, and evening habits, how I think about testing for mold, heavy metals, and other toxic burdens, and how to prioritize support without turning healing into a full-time job.For those who want the handouts and resources referenced, they are available on my private educational portal, which includes over 80 educational materials covering detox support, post-surgical repair, and understanding off-label therapies. | 1/27/26 | ![]() The 4 Step Healing Plan for Cancer and Complex Chronic Illness | If you are listening because you or someone you love has cancer and you feel overwhelmed, I want you to know this first. You are not behind. You are not failing. And the confusion you are feeling makes complete sense.Cancer often turns life into a full-time research job. Conflicting advice. Endless protocols. Trends that promise answers but leave you feeling more scattered. And all of it lands on a body that is already exhausted, inflamed, and overwhelmed. When that happens, even the best treatment plans struggle to work. After years of working with complex and chronic cases, I have learned that healing does not fail because people are not trying hard enough. It fails when there is no clarity, no prioritization, and no structure. More information is rarely the solution. What people actually need is help translating their data and deciding what truly matters first. This is where the 4-step healing plan comes in. It begins with understanding your full picture, including labs, history, environment, medications, supplements, digestion, and stress. From there, we prioritize, because doing everything is not the same as doing the right things in the right order. A single, coherent plan is then built around your capacity and current treatments, followed by ongoing support to ensure progress does not stall once intensive care ends. This approach is grounded in gut health, metabolic and immune support, and clinically safe decision-making. A real case story is shared of a patient with debilitating chronic migraines who had exhausted conventional options and experienced a complete shift in health by addressing the root issues in the correct sequence. This is not about quick fixes or guarantees. | 1/20/26 | ![]() 7 Steps to Stop Cancer from Thriving | If you have been told your cancer is random, aggressive, or just bad luck, this is for you.Cancer does not begin at diagnosis. It develops in a body that has been under metabolic stress for years, sometimes decades. The real work is understanding what conditions in the body allow cancer to survive and progress.Healing depends on the environment around the tumor. The metabolic terrain, immune function, hormonal signaling, and nervous system state matter more than the tumor itself. This work follows a Deep Healing Roadmap used with every person who applies to work with our clinic. Before any treatment decisions are made, seven core areas are always assessed.First is glucose and insulin regulation, because cancer thrives in a high-glucose, high-insulin environment that feeds growth signals.Second is mitochondrial health, which determines how efficiently the body produces energy, repairs tissue, and avoids getting stuck in long-term survival mode.Third is detoxification and drainage, including liver, gut, and lymphatic function, because a congested system recirculates toxins and inflammatory compounds.Fourth is the overall inflammation load. Chronic inflammation suppresses immune surveillance and creates conditions that support cancer growth.Fifth is immune surveillance, especially whether the immune system is alert, exhausted, or confused, and whether it can properly recognize abnormal cells.Sixth is hormonal signaling and hormone metabolism, including estrogen, insulin, and cortisol, and whether those signals promote balance or fuel proliferation. The seventh is nervous system regulation. Healing can only occur when the body feels safe. Chronic stress and sympathetic dominance shut down repair, detox, and immune function. As you listen, there is no need to know how to fix everything. Simply notice which of these areas may be out of balance in your body. Awareness is the first step toward changing the conditions that allow cancer to thrive. If two or more of these areas resonate, let's see if we’re a good fit working together! | 1/13/26 | ![]() 3 Biohacks to Reduce Your Cancer Risk | I'm sitting down with Brendan to talk about cancer from a perspective most people never hear before a diagnosis.Cancer does not start the day you are diagnosed. It develops quietly over years, sometimes decades, shaped by metabolic health, inflammation, stress, sleep, blood sugar regulation, immune function, and nervous system balance. We explore what the body is signaling long before cancer appears, why one in two people will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, and what you can begin addressing right now to lower your risk and strengthen your terrain. We talk about why cancer thrives in environments of chronic stress and insulin dysregulation, how mitochondrial dysfunction shows up years before disease, and why aggressive “fight” language can actually work against healing. We also discuss the overlooked role of circadian rhythm, melatonin, inflammation, trauma, belief systems, and purpose in long-term health and recovery. This is not about fear. | 1/6/26 | ![]() The Best Morning Routine for Cancer Prevention, More Energy, and Healthy Aging | I am taking you inside my mom’s home while I am visiting, because her house truly functions like a wellness clinic. She is 74, incredibly healthy, and she has followed this morning routine for over 25 years. This is not a reset or a wellness trend. This is what daily consistency looks like when the goal is long-term health, mobility, and energy. We start before she even gets out of bed with breathing exercises that activate the diaphragm and support lymphatic drainage. This simple practice helps move lymph, improve circulation, and support detox before the body even stands up. From there, she adds gentle stretching to restore blood flow after sleep, followed by acupressure on the feet to stimulate reflex points associated with various organ systems. Her routine includes rebounding, vibration therapy, and light movement to wake up the lymphatic system, support joint health, and improve circulation. We talk about how years of stress and night shift work affected her hormones and cortisol, and why daily movement and rhythm matter for inflammation, arthritis, and aging well.We also walk through dry skin brushing for lymphatic detox, magnesium and salt baths for muscle and nervous system support, and why detox is more than just the liver. It includes breath, lymph flow, elimination, circulation, and nervous system regulation. We talk about colon health, hydration, and the importance of supporting elimination as part of overall detox. We finish in the kitchen with what she does first thing in the morning, including hydration, fasting, filtered water with minerals, and how she intuitively chooses supplements that support hormone balance and energy. This is a real look at a daily morning routine for detox, lymphatic health, hormone balance, joint support, and longevity, built one habit at a time over the course of decades.Go deeper personal guidance, you can book a VIP in-clinic day APPLY HERE with me at Inside Health in Ontario, where we review your labs, metabolic drivers, genetics, cancer type, treatment plan, and complete health history to create a nutrition and fasting strategy that supports your body and your long-term healing.Watch My YouTube Series on Fasting HEREJOIN THE VIP HEALING EXPERIENCE and let's create a plan that works for your body and its healing process: APPLY HERE to work with me.Download the FREE Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide in the show notes to track key markers and understand your body’s signals for prevention and healing.Join the Accelerated Healing Process . | 12/30/25 | ![]() Why Autoimmune Disease Can Increase Cancer Risk and What to Do | One of the most confusing questions people ask is how someone with an autoimmune disease can still develop cancer. A statistic published in the Journal of the American Medical Association showed that people with autoimmune disease have an increased risk of cancer, and that often feels contradictory if you’ve been told you have a strong immune system.Autoimmune disease is not a sign of immune strength. It is a sign of immune dysregulation. When the immune system is confused, white blood cells can miss abnormal cell growth instead of recognizing and responding to it. This is why stimulating the immune system is not always the goal. Balance matters more than activation. This conversation explores how immune imbalance, chronic inflammation, gut dysbiosis, and metabolic stress can distract the immune system from cancer surveillance. Topics include TH1 and TH2 balance, the role of the gut associated lymphatic tissue, how gut bacteria influence immune signaling, and why being “never sick” is not always a marker of immune health.Supportive considerations during cancer treatment are also discussed, including how chemotherapy affects rapidly dividing cells, mitochondria, and immune resilience. The importance of adequate protein, amino acids, sleep, rest, and reducing inflammatory stressors is emphasized, along with why recovery requires rebuilding at the cellular level. This discussion focuses on understanding how the immune system functions, why immune confusion matters, and how supporting balance and regulation can help the body recognize what it needs to respond to more effectively.Go deeper personal guidance, you can book a VIP in-clinic day APPLY HERE with me at Inside Health in Ontario, where we review your labs, metabolic drivers, genetics, cancer type, treatment plan, and complete health history to create a nutrition and fasting strategy that supports your body and your long-term healing.Watch My YouTube Series on Fasting HEREJOIN THE VIP HEALING EXPERIENCE and let's create a plan that works for your body and its healing process: APPLY HERE to work with me.Download the FREE Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide in the show notes to track key markers and understand your body’s signals for prevention and healing.Join the Accelerated Healing Process . | 12/23/25 | ![]() How to Live a Beautiful Life After a Cancer Diagnosis | A cancer diagnosis often brings guilt, pressure, and the belief that doing everything “right” should lead to predictable results. Many people living with cancer share common patterns, such as being caregivers, empaths, people pleasers, and doers who put others first and struggle to receive support. Research has shown that these type C traits are frequently seen in cancer and other chronic diseases.Living beyond a cancer diagnosis requires giving the body grace rather than punishment. Lab work and blood markers are only a snapshot in time and do not define effort, worth, or success. Stress, perfectionism, and self-blame place additional strain on the nervous and immune systems, which can interfere with healing and immune recognition.Cancer is a complex condition. Even strong immune systems and healthy lab values do not guarantee immune recognition of abnormal cells. This does not mean failure. It means the body may need a different approach, different support, or a new direction. Healing is not linear, and plans must be adjusted without guilt.Supporting health after a cancer diagnosis includes reducing chronic stress, listening to the body, allowing rest, and moving away from constant self-judgment. Healing is not about perfect compliance or chasing ideal lab numbers. It is about building resilience, supporting immune balance, and creating a life that includes joy, gratitude, and presence.Living a beautiful life beyond a cancer diagnosis means shifting the focus from fear and control to health, awareness, and daily choices that support the body without overwhelm. Each day is a new opportunity to adjust, ask questions, and move forward with compassion for yourself and your body.Go deeper personal guidance, you can book a VIP in-clinic day APPLY HERE with me at Inside Health in Ontario, where we review your labs, metabolic drivers, genetics, cancer type, treatment plan, and complete health history to create a nutrition and fasting strategy that supports your body and your long-term healing.Watch My YouTube Series on Fasting HEREJOIN THE VIP HEALING EXPERIENCE and let's create a plan that works for your body and its healing process: APPLY HERE to work with me.Download the FREE Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide in the show notes to track key markers and understand your body’s signals for prevention and healing.Join the Accelerated Healing Process . | 12/16/25 | ![]() Top 3 Ways to Lower Your Cancer Risk | Can you prevent cancer? This is a question I hear almost daily, especially from people with a family history of cancer, those who have lived what they consider a healthy lifestyle, or anyone who has watched someone close to them struggle with a diagnosis and wants to lower their own risk.I break down three foundational areas that matter when the goal is reducing cancer risk and supporting the body’s ability to regulate abnormal cell growth. We first have to start with stress and cortisol, and how chronic elevation can interfere with tumor-suppressor pathways like P53, the gene responsible for monitoring and repairing cellular damage. We also talk about daily chemical exposure and why detox support is important even when you do everything “right.”Vitamin D is another key piece. Many people assume sun exposure is enough, yet low levels are extremely common, especially in those with active cancer. Genetics can influence how well vitamin D is activated, which is why testing matters more than guessing. The third area is metabolic health.Carbohydrate load, insulin signaling, and frequent insulin spikes can influence inflammation and growth signals in the body. Timed eating and calorie restriction are discussed as tools that, when used appropriately, support better metabolic regulation. When fasting is addressed through a personalized lens, including how lab work, hormone cycles, stress response, and overall metabolic health should guide decisions. Longer fasts are not always beneficial and can increase stress or destabilize blood sugar if not matched to the individual.Fasting and metabolic strategies can be powerful tools, but they are only effective when they support the body rather than add stress. Lab markers, such as fasting insulin, hemoglobin A1C, inflammatory markers, vitamin D status, and genetic factors, provide critical context. The goal is not to follow extreme protocols, but to understand what your body is signaling and create a plan that supports immune regulation, hormone balance, and long-term resilience.Go deeper personal guidance, you can book a VIP in-clinic day APPLY HERE with me at Inside Health in Ontario, where we review your labs, metabolic drivers, genetics, cancer type, treatment plan, and complete health history to create a nutrition and fasting strategy that supports your body and your long-term healing.Watch My YouTube Series on Fasting HEREJOIN THE VIP HEALING EXPERIENCE and let's create a plan that works for your body and its healing process: APPLY HERE to work with me.Download the FREE Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide in the show notes to track key markers and understand your body’s signals for prevention and healing.Join the Accelerated Healing Process . | 12/9/25 | ![]() How Your Immune System and Metabolism Work Together to Reduce Cancer Risk | The immune system is tightly connected to how the body recognizes cancer cells in the first place. Natural killer cells and T cells rely on metabolic health to distinguish healthy cells from those that need attention. When that recognition is disrupted, cancer can develop quietly for years. Many people who rarely get sick still arrive at a diagnosis feeling shocked and confused because the immune system can be overwhelmed or distracted long before symptoms appear.Stress, childhood trauma, and early nervous system patterns play a major role in how the immune system functions. High cortisol can downregulate tumor suppressor genes, and a high ACE score is linked to increased cancer risk later in life.Hidden stressors also matter. H pylori, parasites, mold, candida, chronic yeast, and environmental toxins can pull the immune system away from its most important job. Even radon exposure, chemical sprays, and daily contaminants in food and water can influence how well the immune system responds.Genetics contribute to the overall picture but do not determine your fate. Variants like BRCA or the GST M1 deletion change how the body detoxes and manages oxidative stress, yet lifestyle, metabolic health, and emotional history influence how those genes behave. Two people can have the same exposures, and only one develops cancer because their detox pathways, stress load, and metabolic resilience are different.Understanding the root causes of immune recognition helps reduce overwhelm and provides clarity about what matters most. When you know which stressors are active in your life, you can support immune modulation, strengthen metabolic pathways, and give your body what it needs to stay focused on identifying abnormal cells. The goal is not perfection or blame. The goal is to understand your unique biology so you can take clear, confident steps to lower cancer risk and support long-term health.Go deeper personal guidance, you can book a VIP in-clinic day APPLY HERE with me at Inside Health in Ontario, where we review your labs, metabolic drivers, genetics, cancer type, treatment plan, and complete health history to create a nutrition and fasting strategy that supports your body and your long-term healing.JOIN THE VIP HEALING EXPERIENCE and let's create a plan that works for your body and its healing process: APPLY HERE to work with me.Download the FREE Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide in the show notes to track key markers and understand your body’s signals for prevention and healing.Join the Accelerated Healing Process . | 11/25/25 | ![]() 3 Myths About Cancer Diets and the Truth About Protein During Treatment | Diet and cancer are one of the most confusing parts of a diagnosis. Everywhere you look, someone is promoting one plan for every cancer type. Plant-based for all. Carnivore for all. Keto for all.It sounds simple, but it is not true. When you look at nutrition through a metabolic lens, you see that every body responds differently.Your genetics, labs, goals, and current treatments shape your diet. There is no one-size-fits-all plan.Confusion about food can send your mind in opposite directions. One direction is fear. You worry about everything you put in your body and wonder if fasting is safer than eating at all. The other direction is frustration. You feel done with strict rules, done with guilt, and done with trying to follow advice that contradicts itself. Neither extreme helps you move forward. There is a basic foundation that applies to most people. About eighty percent of healthy foods are the same for everyone. The part that changes is how much protein, carbohydrates, and fat you need. Those details depend on your genetics, labs, and whether you are in treatment. This is why personalization matters so much.During accelerated-healing retreats, we study genetic patterns, comprehensive lab work, metabolic flexibility, and how your body breaks down glucose and protein. Glucose and glutamine are the two major fuels for cancer. Understanding how your body processes them helps us determine which plan will best support healing. The first five days in therapeutic ketosis help lower insulin, reduce inflammation, and strengthen your system. After that, a clear long-term plan is created so you know exactly what to follow.Protein is one of the biggest sources of confusion. Your body needs enough protein to repair tissue, support detox pathways, and rebuild strength after therapy. But more is not always better. Too much protein can overstimulate a growth pathway called mTOR. You want the sweet spot, which is usually around one gram of protein per kilogram of ideal body weight. This shifts based on treatments, strength, and recovery needs. You do not need to guess your way through a cancer-supportive diet. Your labs and genetics leave clues. When you follow a plan based on your own data rather than trends or influencer advice, you amplify growth signals, support healing, and fuel your body without feeding cancer.Go deeper personal guidance, you can book a VIP in-clinic day APPLY HERE with me at Inside Health in Ontario, where we review your labs, metabolic drivers, genetics, cancer type, treatment plan, and complete health history to create a nutrition and fasting strategy that supports your body and your long-term healing.JOIN THE VIP HEALING EXPERIENCE and let's create a plan that works for your body and its healing process: APPLY HERE to work with me.Download the FREE Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide in the show notes to track key markers and understand your body’s signals for prevention and healing.Join the Accelerated Healing Process . | 11/18/25 | ![]() What Does Love & Authenticity Have to do With a Cancer Diagnosis? (Dr John DeMartini) | What does cancer and feeling worthy of love have to do with one another? I have been waiting to release this interview for over a year. I had the absolute honor and pleasure of interviewing Dr John DeMartini, who walks us through the top three things you need to know about living your most authentic self and thriving after a cancer diagnosis.I have gone back and watched this interview at least three times because it truly gives me all the feels. I get goosebumps, tears, and I feel empowered, completely in line with who I am supposed to be and more authentic at the end of the day. This conversation is a real way to look at yourself and what you do daily, and how you can absolutely thrive given anything that has come your way, especially a diagnosis such as cancer.Dr Demartini shares how cancer and chronic illness can be seen as a last-ditch effort of our physiology to teach us how to love, how symptoms are feedback from the body trying to bring us back into balance, and how living by our highest values and purpose can support homeostasis and healing. We explore why some people with the same diagnosis respond so differently, how resentment and long-held wounds can affect the body, and how purpose and authenticity are powerful forces that promote wellness.Make sure you listen until the very end, because he gives beautiful, practical advice on how you can master your own life, stop living by other people’s values, and permit yourself to be you. | 11/11/25 | ![]() What to Know About Bone Broth Gut Health & Cancer Recovery | Bone broth is rich in glutamine and gelatin, two nutrients that are very healing for the gut and help repair damage after cancer treatments. But does it help your immune system fight abnormal cells, or can it fuel cancer’s growth? Most people with cancer have some level of gut inflammation from medications, antibiotics, or environmental toxins. Bone broth can help strengthen the GI tract and repair those tight junctions to prevent leaky gut. It supports the gut-brain connection, improves nutrient absorption, and calms inflammation that can impact the immune system.I always recommend choosing antibiotic-free, hormone-free, and organic bone broth from animals raised without exposure to glyphosates or chemicals. Poor-quality broth can create more inflammation and stress on the body. Moderation also matters. Too much protein can trigger the mTOR pathway, which signals cells to divide faster.Bone broth can be a great addition for early-stage recovery or gut repair, but it should never replace a balanced diet. It also provides potassium to help balance sodium and support heart and cellular health. Used mindfully, it can strengthen digestion, boost energy, and support long-term healing.Download the Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide in the show notes to track key markers and understand your body’s signals for prevention and healing.Join the Accelerated Healing Process APPLY HEREConnect with Dr. Lori, ND.Instagram: @drloribouchard_nd TikTok: @livelongerwithdrloriemail: lori@drlori.caThis podcast is for informational purposes only and does not replace medical care from your physician. | — | ||||||
| 11/4/25 | ![]() How Therapeutic Fasting Supports Cancer Healing and Gut Repair | Fasting is one of the most potent healing tools you can keep in your back pocket. It can often do more for your body than supplements, pills, or IVs because it gives your system the rest it needs to repair and rebuild. When you take a break from food, your body naturally begins to reduce inflammation, strengthen the gut lining, and activate deep cellular repair that supports healing at every level.Therapeutic fasting improves the body's response to treatment. It protects healthy cells while making cancer cells more sensitive to therapies like chemotherapy and immunotherapy. It supports mood and energy by increasing serotonin production in the gut and creating balance within the microbiome.Within forty-eight hours of fasting, beneficial bacteria such as Akkermansia begin to grow (LEARN MORE ABOUT AKKERMANSIA MUCINIPHILA HERE). This bacteria helps calm inflammation, rebuild the intestinal lining, and strengthen immune function. Fasting also increases short-chain fatty acids, such as butyrate, which have been shown to suppress abnormal cell growth, especially in colon tissue. As the body enters autophagy, it clears away damaged and precancerous cells and replaces them with healthy ones. This process enhances natural immunity, restores energy, and improves mental clarity. When you finish eating at least four hours before bed, fasting also helps regulate insulin and supports melatonin production for deeper, more restorative sleep.Fasting is not about deprivation. It is a reset that allows your body to rest, repair, and regenerate.Even short overnight fasts of 12 to 16 hours can initiate this process, improving digestion, focus, and overall vitality. Whether you are in active treatment or focused on long-term prevention, fasting helps you restore balance, reduce inflammation, and reconnect to your body’s natural ability to heal.Download the Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide in the show notes to track key markers and understand your body’s signals for prevention and healing.Join the Accelerated Healing Process APPLY HEREConnect with Dr. Lori, ND.Instagram: @drloribouchard_nd TikTok: @livelongerwithdrloriemail: lori@drlori.caThis podcast is for informational purposes only and does not replace medical care from your physician. | — | ||||||
| 10/28/25 | ![]() 5 Traits That Help You Thrive After a Cancer Diagnosis | There is a difference between surviving and thriving. After years in integrative oncology and metabolic health, I have seen cancer thrivers share the same set of traits. These are not traits you are born with. They can be learned and strengthened over time, and they can completely change how you experience healing.Success after a cancer diagnosis is not only a clear scan. A scan matters, but true success is living aligned with your values. It is waking up rested, calm, and grateful. It has strong relationships, less inflammation, better energy, and the peace that comes from living with purpose. It is the way you live, why you live, and how you live every day. Here are the five traits I see in every cancer thriver.Trait 1. Self-respect and boundariesThrivers stop people pleasing. They speak up for their needs, ask for help, rest when their body needs repair, and say no without guilt. Self-respect improves your immune function, your recovery, and your resilience. When you set boundaries, you protect your energy and give your body what it needs to heal.Trait 2. Plan, prepare, and use your dataThrivers plan their day with purpose. They review their labs, understand their inflammation and stress levels, and build a schedule that aligns with their goals. Planning helps remove decision fatigue. You set up simple habits, like stacking breathwork with your sauna or setting out your water bottles the night before, so your day supports healing rather than drains you.Trait 3. Learn and stay resourcefulResourcefulness changes everything. If you are told there is nothing else to do and you know there must be, you keep looking. You find a team that understands metabolic medicine, genetics, and terrain. You keep learning and asking questions until your plan feels aligned. Hope paired with action is one of the most powerful medicines you have.Trait 4. Be decisive with facts, not fearCollect your data, get your opinions, and then decide. Fear-based decisions delay healing. You do not need ten people’s approval to know what feels right. You use your values and your test results to choose the best next step. Being decisive saves time, lowers stress, and helps you move forward with confidence.Trait 5. Prioritize health and fitnessThrivers make movement, nutrition, and recovery part of daily life. They surround themselves with people who value health. They take the stairs, go for walks, and rest when needed. They choose actions that bring energy rather than exhaustion and allow grace for moments that are not perfect. Progress comes from consistency, not guilt.Thriving after a cancer diagnosis is not about perfection. It is about intention. You plan your days, learn what your body needs, make confident choices, and keep choosing health and alignment. | 10/21/25 | ![]() 6 Daily Habits to Lower Cancer Risk | Cancer does not have one single cause. There is not just one reason for a cancer diagnosis. H pylori can aggravate the stomach lining. Epstein-Barr virus has been correlated with lymphoma.Glyphosates, pesticides, herbicides, and heavy metals can create oxidative stress and DNA damage. Not everyone who is exposed gets cancer. What happens is the accumulation of multiple things that can turn oncogenes on and aggravate growth. I am excited to share daily tools you can use to lower risk.We dive into micro habits that build consistency. Diaphragmatic breathing while brushing your teeth. Morning light supports circadian rhythm, melatonin, serotonin, and immune function. The Power Six lymph drainage technique I learned after the Metabolic Health Conference with Dr. Perry Nicholsonl; contrast showers, dry skin brushing, mini rebounder, movement every hour, lymphatic massage. Remember, the lymphatic system has no pump: posture and gentle movement matter.Kitchen strategies that surprised me. Rinse rice three to four times before cooking to lower arsenic. Soak produce in baking soda for 12 to 15 minutes to remove surface pesticides. Cook rice and let it sit overnight to increase resistant starch and support stable glucose. Add fiber with psyllium, chia, and hemp.Feed the gut microbiome daily. Green bananas are a prebiotic. Fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, miso, and coconut kefir. Dehydrated vegetable powders for simple phytonutrients.Walk for ten minutes after meals to activate GLUT4 and reduce post-meal glucose. Aim for a hemoglobin A1C around 5.0. Build lean muscle with resistance training two to three times per week to improve insulin sensitivity.Prioritize sleep. Reduce blue light in the evening. Use low color temperature bulbs. Blackout the room. Support the hypothalamus and the master clock. Breathe in for four and out for six to calm cortisol and support tumor suppressor genes and lymph flow.Choose two or three simple actions this week and make them daily.Baby steps that help your body thrive.Download the Ultimate Cancer Screening Guide in the show notes to track key markers and understand your body’s signals for prevention and healing.Join the Accelerated Healing Process APPLY HEREConnect with Dr. Lori, ND.Instagram: @drloribouchard_nd TikTok: @livelongerwithdrloriemail: lori@drlori.caThis podcast is for informational purposes only and does not replace medical care from your physician. | — | ||||||
