In September 2025, UDallas welcomed back alumnus Dr. Alex Valadka (BA & BS ’83), Chief of Neurological Surgery at Parkland Health and Professor at UT Southwestern, to share firsthand stories from his medical work in Ukraine. For the past several years, Dr. Valadka has traveled twice a year to Dnipro, about an hour’s drive from the front lines of the war with Russia, to treat traumatic brain injuries in soldiers and civilians.
