What was America’s plan after Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Victor Davis Hanson and Sami Winc dive into the final days of World War II and questions about whether the United States came close to deploying additional nuclear weapons. In today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” Victor and Sami dive into many historical topics, from World War II to Henry Ford, and current discussions such as the tensions between the U.S. and Canada and updates on the Iran war. They explore Henry Ford’s connections to Nazi Germany, the heroism of American soldiers during World War II, and the competing military strategies of Gen. Douglas MacArthur and Adm. Chester Nimitz in the Pacific. Hanson also criticizes Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney over escalating tensions with President Donald Trump, warning that Canada's trade policies, growing relationship with China, and dependence on American military protection could have serious economic and national security consequences. The episode also examines the ongoing Iran war, rising gas prices, and Europe's reluctance to support American military operations. Hanson warns of the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran and questions the long-term consequences of the conflict for global energy markets. A deadly plague linked to a Russian laboratory raises new concerns about biological weapons, government secrecy, and the possibility of another global health crisis. Victor Davis Hanson and Sami Winc draw parallels to COVID-19 while examining Trump's meeting with Xi Jinping, Canada's growing ties to China, and Britain's struggles with immigration, terrorism, and military readiness. They also address sexual assault allegations involving Cornell University students, Hollywood's anti-Trump activism, the politicization of the justice system, and the resurgence of woke ideology on the Left. Lies about our history, and revisionist perspective is threatening to rewrite facts about America’s involvement in WWII.  Victor Davis Hanson and Jack Fowler on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words” dive into the news of riots erupting across France as the European demographic crises, open borders, and assimilation failures reach a tipping point.  They discuss how these global fractures can relate to issues felt in America, pointing to polling that reveals alarming youth support for Sharia law, the resurgence of post-October 7th antisemitism, and Massachusetts Governor’s proposal to send state inspectors into the homes of newborns.  They analyze the legal and moral complexities of the Cornell University fraternity sexual assault allegations, diving into the background of the so-coined “Cornell seven.” The episode also delivers a historical critique of Tucker Carlson’s interview with Jacob Rees-Mogg, dismantling Carlson's revisionist claims about Adolf Hitler, Winston Churchill, and Britain’s stand in World War II.  Allegiance Gold - Visit http://protectwithvictor.com to learn about a special Liberty Offer.   Blackout Coffee - Go to http://BlackoutCoffee.com/VDH or use code VDH for 20% off your first order.   Alliance Defending Freedom - Alliance Defending Freedom is gathering 100,000 signatures on a petition to get the disturbing Rights, Respect, and Responsibility program out of schools and to protect parents' right to direct their kids' education. Donald Trump brings top AI executives to the White House in a push to secure American technological dominance, drawing comparisons to FDR’s wartime industrial mobilization. Victor Davis Hanson and Sammy Winc also cover growing unrest in Iran, reports of passengers stopping an attempted cockpit hijacking on a flight to Tel Aviv, and the unraveling of media narratives surrounding the Israel-Hamas war. They break down the stalemate in Ukraine, new remote warfare technology, and the escalating tariff dispute with Canada over trade surpluses and defense commitments. The episode also covers fraud scandals tied to government programs in Minnesota and Washington, along with new developments in the Lindsay Clancy case. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney raises the prospect of preparing for a possible U.S. invasion as trade tensions between Canada and the United States continue to escalate. The strain in the relationship comes as Canada faces broader economic pressures, questions over immigration and open-border policies, and growing concern over the long-term consequences of severing ties with its largest trading partner. Across Western institutions, similar ideological battles are playing out in higher education and the cultural establishment. Stanford faces backlash over the use of AI to alter students’ races in promotional materials, while academic fraud controversies at Cambridge raise further questions about standards and credibility in elite universities. The National Book Awards and the growing influence of DEI politics in major cultural institutions come under scrutiny, along with the treatment of left-wing historians and public figures in the media. The conversation closes with the midterms, where both parties currently stand, and what the coming election season could look like. Donald Trump takes the stage at the UN General Assembly to confront adversarial regimes and reject globalist posturing. Republicans risk throwing away an economic boom by failing to counter progressive narratives, argue Victor Davis Hanson and Sammy Winc on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” Drawing parallels to the 1992 election, Hanson cautions that solid fundamentals, including low poverty and rising per capita income, will be drowned out by paid social media influencers and midterm jitters over inflation and the ongoing war with Iran unless the GOP hones its message.  They also dive into Beijing’s strategic dilemmas, analyzing Xi Jinping’s military purges and arguing that modern drone warfare is forcing China to pivot toward suffocating Taiwan through economic coercion rather than an outright assault. Tucker Carlson’s criticism of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki reignites the debate over why the United States used nuclear weapons against Japan and whether an invasion could have produced even greater casualties. The nuclear debate extends to deterrence, Donald Trump’s approach to America’s arsenal, and the growing capabilities of Russia and China. The state of the U.S. economy and the lingering effects of recent inflation are also examined before turning to the Lindsay Clancy case, the mistrial, conflicting accounts of the jury’s deliberations, and the intense backlash surrounding the lone holdout juror. The Left’s emphasis on racial victimhood, DEI, and equality of outcomes has made race more—not less—central to American life, replacing an older ideal of integration and equal opportunity, Victor Davis Hanson argues on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” with Sami Winc. Hanson contends that disputed racial narratives and perceived double standards are producing growing resentment, fatigue, and social separation rather than racial reconciliation. Hanson and Sami Winc also examine Canada’s escalating trade dispute with the United States. They discuss the Minnesota Senate race, allegations surrounding election fraud, and political polarization. Hanson dives into broader concerns about the direction of the Democratic Party, exploring race and media coverage, debates over alleged lynching incidents, Black Lives Matter, affirmative action, and changing narratives around race in American politics. Hanson then discusses college programs he characterizes as racially segregated, drawing on a report about race-based housing and graduation programs, before sharing his own experiences teaching minority students and discussing race-conscious admissions and opportunities. The episode also discusses how Trump’s return to office changed the personnel and strategic approach behind his political movement.
