| 10/13/26 | Ep 272 - Landscape Photography & Creative Vision with Saumya Kesurvala | Saumya Kesurvala has spent 15 years as a professional designer and visual storyteller, working across brand identity, editorial and environmental graphics. Landscape photography has become his way of stepping away from screens and reconnecting with the natural world. Growing up in a creative household and attending boarding school close to nature gave him an early appreciation for the outdoor experience itself, not just the images it produces. That philosophy shapes how he approaches long term projects, including photographing Uluru with the Milky Way core and capturing an osprey crossing the moon, both requiring serious research and pre-visualisation. In this episode Saumya talks about valuing community over gear, navigating social media comparison, and choosing exhibition images based on the joy of making them rather than technical perfection. He also shares memorable close calls on an Iceland glacier and a near encounter with a brown snake, plus his thoughts on AI and the importance of honesty in photography. I hope you enjoy the show! | 10/6/26 | Ep 271 - New Zealand Landscapes & ICM Photography with Noelle Bennett | Noelle Bennett moved from northwest England to New Zealand in 2002 and was immediately overwhelmed by the light, colour and space of her new home. A camera arrived in 2013 and she hasn't stopped since. Now living in a tiny home in the foothills of the Southern Alps after living on a yacht her husband built in the Marlborough Sounds, Noelle seeks out quiet locations well off the tourist trail, often via off-roading and drone work to reach truly remote perspectives. Her ICM body of work grew out of a difficult period when her husband was seriously ill, The experience of pulling that body of work together was cathartic and ultimately earned her a Fellowship from the Photographic Society of New Zealand in 2025, their highest distinction. In this episode Noelle talks about spontaneous feeling led shooting, her post processing work in Affinity Photo including multi-image composites and live stacking, and using competitions as a tool for focus and growth rather than validation. I hope you enjoy the show! | 9/29/26 | Ep 270 - Storytelling via Aerial Abstract Photography with Nilmini de Silva | Nilmini De Silva grew up in Sri Lanka, studied civil engineering at UC Berkeley, taught English in South Korea, backpacked across Europe and Asia, and eventually landed in Australia in 1998. A ten month sabbatical that included conservation photography work in South Africa, cheetah documentation in Namibia and a trip to Antarctica changed the direction of her life entirely. She launched her first exhibition in 2011 and spent five years living and travelling Australia in a motorhome with her partner, covering stretches of the country most people never see. These days her work centres on aerial photography, flying over salt lakes, flood plains and working sheep stations by drone and light aircraft, finding abstract paintings in the Australian landscape from above. In this episode Nilmini talks about discovering drone photography during COVID, repeated recognition in the Siena Drone Awards, how editing reveals muted aerial colour and texture, and using competitions and exhibitions as tools for honest feedback and craft development. I hope you enjoy the show! | 9/22/26 | Ep 269 - The Circle of Light: Women Elevating Nature Photography | Circle of Light is a collaboration between six landscape and nature photographers, Anna Morgan, Charlotte Gibb, Claudia Welsch, Jennifer Renwick, Michele Sons and Sarah Marino, formed to counter the isolation that comes with landscape photography and to push the boundaries of what nature photography can express. Their first project, the ebook The Nature of Place, brings together lead essays and dialogue style responses that read like a campfire conversation about creativity, connection to place and personal expression. It's the result of 18 months of Zoom calls, peer editing and genuine collaborative effort. In this episode four of the six members talk about building supportive peer community, encouraging photography as expressive art rather than technique driven documentation, and why elevating diverse voices in the landscape photography world matters to them. They also discuss solitude versus community, finding honest critique networks and their thoughts on AI's growing presence in photography. | 9/15/26 | Ep 268 - Waterfalls & Landscape Photography with Jeffrey Tadlock | Jeffrey Tadlock grew up around cameras, his dad was an advanced amateur with a Nikon film setup, and early years photographing BMX and skateboarding events taught him camera settings before he really knew what he was doing. A decade long gap ended in 2016 when he picked up his wife's old Nikon and the fire came back. Based in Ohio, Jeffrey has built a life around landscape photography as a creative outlet alongside a headshot business, YouTube channel and the Shutter Nonsense podcast. A sunset on Lake Erie shot on his phone was the moment that shifted his focus from documentary snapshots to images that try to convey how a place actually feels. In this episode Jeffrey talks about his patient approach to working scenes particularly waterfalls, the value of revisiting locations like Hocking Hills and Death Valley, and why he defines success as enjoying the process rather than chasing great images. His natural, true to scene editing philosophy is refreshing too. I hope you enjoy the show! | 6/30/26 | Ep 257 - Project Based Landscape Photography with David Baker | David Baker started with a small digital camera photographing standing stones. Early photo blogging and the feedback it generated gradually shifted his focus from simple documentation toward images that convey how a place actually feels. Based in rural Aberdeenshire after a lifetime on the south coast of England, David works exclusively in long term projects, each with its own constraints and parameters. Five books published, more than 20 exhibitions including three appearances at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and an Arts Council funded solo show at Southampton City Art Gallery mark out a serious and sustained practice. In this episode David talks about using mapped circles, triangles and specific times as creative constraints, the role of instinct over heavy planning, and why printing and handmade books are the essential final step in his process. He also reflects on how moving to northeast Scotland changed his subjects while keeping his project based approach completely intact. I hope you enjoy the show! | 6/23/26 | Ep 256 - Tasmania's Tarkine & Conservation Photography with Tim Cooper | Tim Cooper is a full time picture framer based in northwest Tasmania who spends as much time as possible in the Tarkine, one of the most significant and threatened wilderness regions in the Southern Hemisphere. Since 2016 his photography has focused on the rainforests, rivers and rugged coastlines of this ancient landscape and the very real threats it faces from logging, mining and climate driven fire. His work documents not just the landscape but activists, burn scars and threatened species like the swift parrot, images built around conservation impact rather than likes. In this episode Tim talks about the challenges of working full time while pursuing serious landscape and wildlife photography, how selling at markets helped him refine his personal style and curation, and why he believes the printed image is where photography's real power lies. He's also candid about careful location sharing and the responsibility that comes with photographing sensitive environments. I hope you enjoy the show! | 6/16/26 | Ep 255 - Abstract Iceland Landscapes & Arctic Tours with Kévin Pagès | Kévin Pagès took a winding road to Iceland. Born in Spain, raised in France, a year in New Zealand sparked his passion for photography, and studies in Montreal turned it into a career. He's been based in Iceland for eight years now and shows no signs of leaving. His early studio work and cinematic portrait style have evolved into abstract landscape photography, often using drones to explore the shapes and patterns of glacier rivers from above. It's distinctive work that earned him Sony Emerging Photographer of the Year in 2016/2017 and a Broncolor GenNext ambassadorship. In this episode Kevin talks about co-founding Arctic Journeys, a private Jeep based photo tour company, his go with the flow approach to shooting in unpredictable weather, and the realities of pricing, licensing and admin that come with running a photography business. He also shares his thoughts on AI and the growing pressures of social media. I hope you enjoy the show! | 6/9/26 | Ep 254 - Yorkshire Wolds Landscape Photography with Paul Moon | Paul Moon has been photographing the Yorkshire Wolds for years, and that depth of time in one place comes through clearly in his work. It's a landscape most people drive past without stopping, chalk valleys, dry grassland, ancient woodland and wildflower meadows, and Paul has made it his life's work to show people what they're missing. His preference for upright compositions and mid-range lenses over wide angles suits the Wolds perfectly, a landscape defined by twisting forms, shadows and intimate detail rather than grand panoramas. In this episode Paul talks about his long term project focused on Millington Pastures and plans for a self-published book, the influences of Joe Cornish and David Ward on his thinking, and how photography has deepened his understanding of local geology, flora and environmental change including ash dieback. He also touches on navigating access issues with gamekeepers and building relationships with local landowners. I hope you enjoy the show! | 6/2/26 | Ep 253 - Candace Dyer on Moving from Landscapes to Wildlife Conservation Photography | Candace Dyar started photographing as a way to manage anxiety and depression, taking her Canon SLR out on hikes as a therapeutic outlet. That early connection to nature, combined with an art history background, gradually shaped a practice with a much bigger purpose. Based in Washington State, Candace now works at the intersection of wildlife photography and conservation advocacy, partnering with organisations like the World Wildlife Fund and Defenders of Wildlife to draw attention to threatened species and the ecological importance of apex predators. A wolf encounter in Yellowstone in October 2021 was a turning point that shifted her focus decisively toward wildlife. In this episode Candace talks about using images and captions to challenge misinformation about wolves, educating people on coexistence and the reality of living alongside predators, running workshops in wild places, and balancing the admin side of a photography business with actually getting out and shooting. | 5/26/26 | Ep 252 - Healing through Woodland Photography with Simon Baxter | Simon Baxter's path to photography wasn't straightforward. A back injury in 2012 ended his adrenaline fuelled outdoor life, mountain biking, kayaking, snowboarding, and forced him to find a slower way back to the natural world. A labradoodle puppy called Meg did exactly that. Their woodland walks around the North York Moors gave Simon something unexpected. The solitude, the complexity of trees and the therapeutic benefits of time spent among them became the foundation of an entire career. He's now recognised as one of the world's leading woodland photographers. In this episode Simon talks about moving from craftsman to artist, using composition to speak for the trees rather than simply document them. He discusses shooting locally to learn a woodland's rhythms, the mycorrhizal wood wide web as creative inspiration, and building a sustainable business through YouTube, workshops, books and prints alongside his involvement in the 6-1-7 Club with Thomas Heaton. | 5/19/26 | Ep 251 - Aurora & Alpine Photography with Daniel Tschurtschenthaler | Daniel Tschurtschenthaler has spent 20 years photographing the Dolomites from his home in Sexten, and it shows. He sees the landscape in frames constantly, and that deep familiarity with a place comes through in his work. A former painter and varnisher, Daniel turned his hobby into a full time career and now runs his own showroom in Sesto. He was also the subject of a three year Servus TV documentary about his life and practice, released in 2022. In this episode Daniel talks about using paragliding to read weather and reach high alpine locations, sleeping on peaks to photograph Milky Way arches, and the aurora fever that gripped him after photographing the northern lights over the Dolomites for the first time in 2023. He's also candid about processing philosophy, the problem of AI imagery and why he won't share sensitive wildlife locations. I hope you enjoy the show! | 5/12/26 | Ep 250 - Cosmic Landscapes & Dark Matter with Zac Henderson | Zac Henderson has been shooting since he was 15, starting on his mother's film camera. These days he and his wife live and travel full time in a motorhome across the US, and that nomadic life feeds directly into his work. Zac's photography is rooted in astrophysics, geological time and the kind of perspective shifts that come from thinking seriously about humanity's place in the cosmos. That draws him to deserts, rock formations and volcanic landscapes, places that feel like they could exist on another planet entirely. In this episode he talks about his abstract Dark Matter series using magnets and iron filings, how recent high quality space imagery has influenced his thinking, and his experiments with full spectrum and infrared photography. He's also honest about the challenge of making work that communicates clearly in an era of AI generated imagery. I hope you enjoy the show! | 5/5/26 | Ep 249 - Waterfalls & Wild Mournes with Naomi Savage | Naomi Savage's photography grew out of a life in music. Shooting gigs in Belfast gave her an eye for light and timing, and after taking night classes in 2017 and learning manual settings properly, she turned that eye toward the landscapes on her doorstep in Northern Ireland. These days Naomi splits her time between solo fine art shoots around the Mourne Mountains, forests and waterfalls, and group hikes with The Mourne Hikers where the pace and storytelling are completely different. She's open about photography being good for her mental health and is balancing a day job alongside dedicated shooting days. In this episode she talks about tough hikes like Carrauntoohil and the Devil's Coach Road, influences like Henry Turner and Alex Nail, accurate color and natural edits for print, and using film photography to reset when digital starts to feel stale. | 4/28/26 | Ep 248 - Minimalist Ocean Photography in the South Pacific with Brigitte Bourger | Brigitte Bourger spent over 35 years as a pharmacist in French Polynesia before devoting herself fully to photography. Living in Tahiti gives her direct access to some of the world's most extraordinary marine environments, and that proximity shapes everything she does. Her Ephémères Impressions project, a minimalist series exploring the fragility of Pacific marine life, resulted in a sold-out book that won gold at both PX3 Paris and TIFA Tokyo. It's serious, internationally recognised work built around color, abstraction and a deep concern for environmental fragility. In this episode Brigitte talks about finding her direction through workshops in Japan, the influence of Michael Kenna on her thinking, and how an instinct led, tripod and filter based process defines her approach. She also reflects on the challenge of earning recognition as a photographer in an era of image overload and AI. I hope you enjoy the show!
