| 8/22/26 | RAM in QUADRASONICS - Paul McCartney - Hear It Differently! | PAUL McCARTNEY's 1971 album, RAM, presented in QUADRASONICS, which is a system that uses four independent directional sources of sound. You don't need any special system to listen to it; it's simply a different sounding mix, a bit more separation by using the four "directions" of sound. (It's pretty much the same as Quadrophonic.)It's a really great sound; one that doesn't knock you over the head, but a sound that you can tell is different, yet familiar. | 8/11/26 | THE ALTERNATE CONCERT FOR BANGLA DESH - George Harrison | August 1, 1971 ~ George Harrison & Friends (including Ringo Starr, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Leon Russell, Badfinger, & others) gave two charity concerts (afternoon & evening) for Bangladesh Relief, at Madison Square Garden in NYC.The matinee began at 2:30 PM, and the evening concert started at 8:00 PM. Most of the songs from the commercially-released triple-album set came from the evening show, while a few were used for the album from the afternoon show.So this set list is the OPPOSITE of the songs used for the commercial release.**PLEASE NOTE: This recording came from an audience member's recording, so the sound is definitely not good. It's listenable, but not up to "commercial" standards.***ALSO PLEASE NOTE: The source of this recording did not record the Ravi Shankar set, which opened the concert. This recording begins with George and band taking the stage after Ravi's set. I feel, from an historical viewpoint, it's quite cool. Please enjoy!WAH-WAH - George. Audio is from the afternoon show up until the 3:20 mark, at which time, the audio from the evening show is used to finish the song (the opposite of the commercial release)SOMETHING - George. The afternoon version. This was switched to the next-to-last song in the evening performance.AWAITING ON YOU ALL - George. Afternoon version. This song wasn't played at all during the evening show.THAT'S THE WAY GOD PLANNED IT - Billy Preston. Afternoon performanceIT DON'T COME EASY - Ringo Starr. Afternoon performanceBEWARE OF DARKNESS - George. AfternoonBAND INTRODUCTIONS - From the evening performance. George had forgotten to intro the band earlier in the evening, so these introductions are right before the second-to-last song in the show. I moved the audio up to this point in order to get a good idea of who's in the band.JUMPING JACK FLASH / YOUNGBLOOD - Leon Russell. Afternoon performanceHERE COMES THE SUN - George with Badfinger on acoustic accompaniment. Evening performanceA HARD RAIN'S A-GONNA FALL - Bob Dylan. Afternoon performanceIT TAKES A LOT TO LAUGH, IT TAKES A TRAIN TO CRY - Bob Dylan. AfternoonLOVE MINUS ZERO / NO LIMIT - Bob Dylan. Afternoon. This song was replaced in the evening show by "Mr. Tambourine Man" (which Bob didn't sing in the afternoon.)JUST LIKE A WOMAN - Bob Dylan (joined by George & Leon on vocals). AfternoonHEAR ME LORD - George. Afternoon (George didn't perform this in the evening show.) (It's at this point in the evening show that George introduced the band, but we heard it earlier.) George performs MY SWEET LORD. Afternoon showBANGLA DESH - George. AfternoonThanks for listening! | 1h 33m 04s | ||||||
| 7/28/26 | JOHN LENNON QUADRASONICS MIND GAMES ALBUM - Hear It Differently | JOHN LENNON'S 1973 album, MIND GAMES, presented in QUADRASONICS, which is a system that uses four independent directional sources of sound. Please enjoy! 1. | 6/7/25 | Beatles Hour 83 (Laurie Kaye, guest) with Steve Ludwig [Audio edition] | On this episode (#83) of The Beatles Hour with Steve Ludwig, we are joined by the brilliant author/rock journalist, LAURIE KAYE. She interviewed John Lennon & Yoko Ono on the afternoon that John was brutally taken from us later that evening. It's a surreal story of a somewhat surreal (& exciting) life in the music & radio scenes. We'll also hear of Laurie's interviews with Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Mick Jagger, & so much more. PLUS, we'll hear of the horrifying encounter Laurie had with the scum who, shortly after the encounter, shot John Lennon. Her brilliant book is entitled, CONFESSIONS OF A ROCK 'N' ROLL NAME-DROPPER - My Life Leading Up to John Lennon's Last Interview. | 1h 00m 55s | ||||||

| 5/12/25 | Steve Ludwig's Classic Pop Culture #36 - Melanie & Callie Cosplay | A true flower child of the sixties (and today!), MELANIE joins us for music & talk with host Steve Ludwig. Ms. Safka shares so many stories about her appearances at Woodstock & the Isle of Wight concerts, opens up about deeply personal episodes in her life, as well as sharing brand new music with us. The interview was truly a moving experience...CALLIE COSPLAY tells us about life as a cosplayer. It's mostly fun, but you may be surprised at the lengths Callie & other cosplayers must go to to perfect their craft. This is SHOW #36 OF STEVE LUDWIG'S CLASSIC POP CULTURE ~Original broadcast date: 4/15/14. | 12/23/24 | LOU REED - METAL MACHINE MUSIC (1975) | Arguably, this is LOU REED's weirdest album release. METAL MACHINE MUSIC was released in 1975, but was taken off the market three weeks later. Some critics said it cost Reed his reputation in the music business. There are no songs or structured composition on the album; instead it consists of modulated feedback & noise music guitar effects.UGLY MUSIC Magazine write: "Get beyond those first few unnerving seconds, listen closely, and it can be interpreted in a multitude of ways." Decide for yourself... | 1h 03m 52s | ||||||
