Barely two months after we posted part 1 of this chat, we return to the moment when, thanks to the fantastic people behind Film Is Fabulous, the four Something Who panellists sat down to watch Episodes 1 & 3 of The Daleks' Masterplan at various times and in various places over the Easter weekend. Gav suggested this pairing of two Zygon stories: in this episode the four part 4th Doctor story from 1975 which starts Season 13 - Terror of the Zygons, which we'll pair next time with 2015's two part 12th Doctor outing The Zygon Invasion / Inversion from Series 9. The second half of what was supposed to be a quick and easy pair of episodes to research, record and edit, with less than 2 hours of screen time across the two stories. But somehow Richard has managed to invite everybody, so Giles, Rick and Paul are joined by returning guest Gav Rymill and this part is even longer than the first half. Happy New Year from Something Who. Just before Christmas, on 23rd December 2024, a 90 minute colour version of the War Games was broadcast on BBC4 and made available in the BBC iPlayer. As with The Daleks before it, this 10 part black and white story has been edited into a shorter form and colourised to help bring it to life for a new generation. And Something Who has managed to secure a return visit from two of the key members of the team who made it - Benjamin Cook, the Editor, and Rich Tipple, Lead Colourisation Artist. It's a great chat that goes into how and why a number of the creative choices were made, some of the difficulties involved in editing and colorising a story form the 1960s as well as many of the delights involved.
