Talk From Superheroes

This week we're talking about the new Street Fighter (that's set in 1993). We talk about fun, practical action, not expecting the anime influence to be literal, hit and miss casting, and unnecessary little creeps.

This week we're talking about when a Lantern was a mid-sized sedan, which of course means that we're talking about Old (The Beach That Makes You Old). We talk about if Shyamalan twists really matter, how normal humans are supposed to talk, and what is Mid-sized Sedan even a play on?

We're talking about another video game movie this week. The second in the series that leaves you more confused than the first, it's Silent Hill Revelation. We try to figure out the plan of the secret order, give respect to the costumes, puzzle over accents, and wonder how the hell they afforded this cast.

There's Knightfall, but then there's Batman Knightfall: Part 1 Knightfall. The title so nice they named it twice. We're talking about pointy Batman, never really understanding what Azrael is about, Tim Drake finally getting some recognition and Bane being an absolute unit. WESTERN CANADA. See host Andrew Ivimey will be performing in Victoria, BC, Sept 10 - Vancouver, BC, Sept 15 - Winnipeg, MB, Sept 18

THEY'RE BACK! Sure they were only gone for a couple normal years but they're back this week as we talk about 2003's Looney Tunes Back In Action. We talk about Diana's soft spot for the tunes, awkward live action, a weird undertone of resentment for Space Jam, and mixing up your comedic Martins. WESTERN CANADA. See host Andrew Ivimey will be performing in Victoria, BC, Sept 10 - Vancouver, BC, Sept 15 - Winnipeg, MB, Sept 18

This week we're joined by comedian Tracy Hamilton to talk about the mixed medium masterpiece Who Framed Roger Rabbit. We get into what it means to adore something, the attraction of Jessica Rabbit, and the importance of having a contract. WESTERN CANADA. See host Andrew Ivimey performing alongside this episodes guest Tracy Hamilton in Victoria, BC, Sept 10 - Vancouver, BC, Sept 15 - Winnipeg, MB, Sept 18

This week we're joined by comedian and writer Amanda Brooke Perrin (@amandabrookeperrin) to talk about the chemistry and potential that was The Amazing Spider-man 2. We talk about how tall is too tall for a spider-man, how many writers is too many, the opposite of stakes, and what it would be like if Electro was saying this to a woman.

We're building up to The Odyssey and this week we're talking about another Christopher Nolan literary adaptation with The Prestige. We talk about magic tricks that are essentially the same, the true purpose of Scarlett Johansson, and magicians making fun of comedians. WESTERN CANADA. See host Andrew Ivimey will be performing in Victoria, BC, Sept 10 - Vancouver, BC, Sept 15 - Winnipeg, MB, Sept 18

This week we're talking about the new 2026 Supergirl. Does it leave you feeling empowered, the two sides of the El family, when to train your dog, and we pick apart the worst name for a villain.

We're talking about the latest in Steven Spielberg's conversation with aliens, it's Disclosure Day. A movie that combines many Spielberg tropes in one frankenmovie, we talk about adults getting away like kids, Spielberg's alien kink, and how much in medias res is TOO medias res.

We're talking about some of the classic Spielberg alien movies, starting with E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Does this alien hold a special place in your heart? Please let us know because we try to figure out who the super fan of this movie is as we discuss the alien being a weird little guy, terrible hazmat protocols, and the implications of psychological bonding. We're talking about Daredevil Born Again season 2 (not including the Punisher stand alone). We talk about how style and acting elevates a plot that's kind of stagnant, a swath of morally grey characters, and the worst thing to order at a New York diner. Who's gonna win, who's gonna lose, and how much of this did Mortal Kombat steal. This week we're joined by the delightfully funny Josh Gondelman to talk about Enter The Dragon. We talk about character intros, sumo wrestling corporate gigs, ACAB dogs, and how to sell a character's gambling problems.
