The lads return once more from the depths of the internet to talk video games, the industry and share some life stories. It's the DayOne Show Episode 336, and one of the best gaming podcasts is available on demand for your eyeholes and earholes, right now!As always, we kick off the show catching up and then diving into what we've been playing this week, and while Jesse and Nick have been dabbling with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort (a review is on the way) that star of the show is undoubtedly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.While Jesse has yet to dive in, we've all been playing it, and it's a very good time. Beyond that, Jon is continuing his 'insanity' run in Gears of War: E-Day, and Nick has finally rolled credits. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is also still getting plenty of playtime, though a technical issues forced Nick to start again from scratch. Jon's also been checking out Cyberpunk 2077 again, now that it's Xbox Play Anywhere. It's worth mentioning, although none of the panel here have played them, that we have reviews up for Stupid Never Dies, Final Fantasy Resonance, ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet and an in progress piece on Village in the Shade.From a news perspective, there's been a lot going on. First, a new Xbox feature piece from Fortune Magazine caused a stir and was filled with a ton of surprising details, be it Xbox Game Pass Changes, hardware timings and pricing with an Xbox Handheld suggested for 2027 and a $1200+ Console in 2028. Xbox are also rumoured to be continuing layoffs at the company into January. An Xbox employee had a viral moment sharing his thoughts, perhaps without permission on AI in the gaming industry, saying "Gaming is the Only Industry Pretending to Not Use AI", before promptly deleting his entire twitter account. Whoops! Arkane Lyon also made the news, with details that the developer currently working on Blade faces closure in November unless a buyer is found, though Bloomberg's Jason Schrier thinks it's all going to work out. The big news though is reserved for EA this week, who announced their 'Next Chapter'. The frustrating part of taking on all that debt after the sale is the closure of Bioware, and the cancellation of the next Mass Effect game. Hey, at least they're bringing back Fight Night, right? And it's some small consolation that the Amazon 'Mass Effect' TV Series is still going ahead at Amazon MGM, despite the end of Bioware entirely. After another solid week in video games, Jon, Nick and Jesse return to chat about all the latest news, games, and Nick's habitual cutscene skipping. Jump in for The DayOne Show Episode 334!As always, we kick off the show by diving into what we've been playing. Gears of War: E-Day is a frequent topic of conversation with it's excellent Horde Siege mode, and the usual 'Insanity' campaign run through, though Nick is still taking it slow in his ongoing hunt for every collectible. Jesse has reviewed a number of titles releasing this week, from the horny horror of Hellraiser: Revival to the sumptuous expansion in Dragons Dogma 2: Dark Arisen.This week has also seen a number of games release, including a couple for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. First there's Neon Abyss 2, which has launched everywhere in 1.0 form following a year or so in Early Access on PC. We also have Forever Ago, a new narrative focused game about love, loss and regret which Jon has been playing following an excellent review from Joe Cumbo on the site.Despite all the great video games, there's also been plenty of industry goings-on to dive into, in what feels like a very Xbox-centric week. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma held a town hall at Xbox HQ and revealed that Gen-10 (Project Helix) will be a 'Family of Devices' with some being made by third party partners. Xbox also announced a new division - Xbox XP - which will focus on 4 verticals for Microsoft including a focus on film and TV entries in popular franchises. There was some reporting around Xbox, streaming and GTA6 and crypto-scam leaker Cyberleek returned to threaten Rockstar with the release of the full game unless he gets money, or Rockstar makes a physical version. Oh, and Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a movie in partnership with Paramount and CDPR. Gears of War: E-Day is the game that cements The Coalition as one of the top developers in gaming. A picture-perfect campaign, full of grit, emotion, brilliant design, and sheer spectacle, takes us through the start of it all. The eponymous Emergence Day sees us through three days and nights of the fall of humanity.It is a stunning achievement, with excellent gameplay, pacing, and writing. Paired with the incredible delights of Horde Siege and a solid PvP multiplayer, E-Day is as thoroughly compelling a package as I have played this generation.Our Gears of War: E-Day Review:

We're back to talk video games after another turbulent and hectic week in this crazy interesting. We'll break it down in The DayOne Show Episode 332!As we head into the show, there's plenty of games to talk about this week, and we've also been playing plenty we can't yet talk about. First up is Rivage, a new sci-fi puzzler where the player is trapped in a time loop. Jon's played it, and doesn't like it very much. What he did like is Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, which is an absolute blast to play, even if it's very silly. Jesse's been juggling plenty of things, from new previews for both The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park and a final look at Valor Mortis before release. The big one however, was Silent Hill: Townfall, which sadly, he didn't love, even though it's mostly reviewed pretty positively. The big stuff though, was once again focused around a beleaguered Xbox, who once again angered fans and the industry by detailing the next steps of their ongoing "reset" of the business. This time around saw Halo Studios hit hard with job cuts and Halo move over to Activision, along with Rare and World's Edge. Will it all work out? We're back after a solid week of gaming news, reviews and of course releases! Wolverine is out and generating plenty of discussion, and Xbox held their TGS broadcast with Hideo Kojima stealing the show with new information on OD and the recently signed PHYSINT. We talk through it all in The DayOne Show Episode 331! As always, we kick off the show catching up and diving into the latest games we've been playing. Jon kicks off discussing Marvel's Wolverine, Sony's latest PlayStation 5 exclusive from Insomniac Games. Both Jon and Nick have been playing it this week, and it's been under a fair bit of scrutiny - while some of it's fair, some of it is pretty overblown.Jesse published a new preview for Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, which has a new demo of the same content you can check out, as well as a review of CONTROL Resonant, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He described it as an excellent genre-shifting sequel, that moves the series from crazy flying third-person shooting into crazier, even more flying’ier third person melee combat.On the news front, there's a fair amount to discuss. Xbox broadcast their TGS Show and showed off some cool games and reveals, and there's a bit of celebrity vibe. Mads Mikkelsen Wants to 'Make You Cry For Mercy' as he gets revealed as the new antagonist for Modern Warfare 4. The celebrity vibe continued with Kojima taking the stage in special appearance, as he also announced Bill Skarsgård as the lead in Physint. Beyond that, a big Xbox Game Pass rumour about day one games caused a big buzz, along with the appearance of 'mythic' achievements. Interesting times!

The Wolverine returns in his first solo video game outing in nearly two decades, and this time from the developer behind the excellent Spider-Man games, Insomniac.
