Two Doting Dads with Matty J & Ash

The queen of common sense, Maggie Dent, is here to sort out the guys’ parenting problems with all the charm and wisdom we know and love about her. From schoolyard friendships to why presence beats presents, Maggie dishes out some much-needed perspective on the little moments that make you a good dad (even when you’re fairly certain you’re stuffing it up). Then she turns the tables and puts the guys in the hot seat to examine their own parenting. Needless to say, Matt gets emotional, Ash is left speechless, and the boys realise this little podcast they started for fun has become something far more meaningful than they ever could have imagined. Part parenting masterclass, part therapy session, this one will make you laugh, cry and possibly feel better about your own parenting. All thanks to the wonderful Maggie Dent. You can get Maggie's latest book, Digital Freedom here.  ______________________________________________________________________________ If you need a shoulder to cry on:  Two Doting Dads Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/639833491568735/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheTwoDotingDads  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/twodotingdads/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@twodotingdads    See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Vic’s away, so naturally the boys have immediately reverted to children. They’re talking snacks, childhood favourites and the finer details of losing their virginity… because that's what happens when they're left unsupervised. Ash also gets a surprisingly wholesome moment when someone he used to coach reaches out to tell him the impact he had on his life. Who knew Ash was capable of inspiring anyone? But there’s a job to do, and it’s Doter Dilemma Day. This week: should teenagers be allowed to use the parents’ room in shopping centres? How do you help a dad who’s lonely? And should a daughter contact her biological dad after discovering who he really is? So, snacks, sex and some genuinely big questions. Basically, another normal day at Two Doting Dads And if you or someone you know needs support with men’s mental health, head to Movember.com ______________________________________________________________________________ If you need a shoulder to cry on:  Two Doting Dads Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/639833491568735/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheTwoDotingDads  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/twodotingdads/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@twodotingdads    See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jai Arrow has fought plenty of battles on the footy field but now he's facing the biggest fight of his life - against MND. The NRL superstar joins us this week for an incredibly honest and moving conversation about his diagnosis and the decision to retire from the game to focus on fighting the disease. With his wife Berina and daughter Ayla by his side in the studio, Jai opens up about the realities of living with MND - the things that have surprised him most, how it’s changed life as a dad and a husband and why his family are his reason to keep fighting every day. It’s raw, heartbreaking, inspiring and at times, surprisingly funny. If you’d like to learn more about MND, access support or help fund the fight, head to www.fightmnd.org.au or www.mndaustralia.org.au All proceeds from our Two Doting Dads hats during the week of this episode from October 4-11 will go towards MND - you can purchase them here. ______________________________________________________________________________ If you need a shoulder to cry on:  Two Doting Dads Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/639833491568735/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheTwoDotingDads  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/twodotingdads/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@twodotingdads  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week the guys are flying solo without Vic, which means only one thing - another loose episode.  The guys ask parents the one thing they’d love more of and without getting too political they think the solution is coffee. Meanwhile Ash has some breaking news from Latvia & Matt has a hack for fixing his faulty freezer But they're here to solve come more Doter Dilemmas and this week they tackle the tough topic of unfair dismissal when it comes to paid parental leave. Remember, you can sign the petition here  to help lobby the government for more paid parental leave. Plus the guys tackle the age-old parenting dilemma: when the hell do you actually talk to your kids about the birds and the bees? All in all, another chaotic housekeeping episode, just with significantly more farting. ______________________________________________________________________________ If you need a shoulder to cry on:  Two Doting Dads Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/639833491568735/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheTwoDotingDads  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/twodotingdads/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@twodotingdads  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week we sit down with the man behind Choc’s Chats, Jake Cullen, who you might recognise from social media for his funny videos, which are suspiciously similar to Ash’s. So naturally, the guys have a lot to talk about. Choc and Ash actually have a very similar meet-cute to Matt and Ash… although there’s one fairly significant difference: they’ve pashed. On a work trip. So prepare for some jealousy. Mostly from Matt. But beneath the pashing and petty rivalry, Choc opens up about becoming a dad to 18-month-old Bobby, including one of the hardest decisions he and Kate have ever had to make while she was pregnant. He also gets honest about the dad guilt he never saw coming, the pressure to be present while also keeping everything else going, and why the juggle of work, parenting and life is very real. And yes, Matt is still processing the fact that Choc has kissed Ash. ______________________________________________________________________________ If you need a shoulder to cry on:  Two Doting Dads Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/639833491568735/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheTwoDotingDads  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/twodotingdads/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@twodotingdads  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The guys have had a busy week. One minute they’re in Canberra lobbying politicians for more paid parental leave for dads, the next they’re accepting Father of the Year awards. Standard. Then it's straight into the important Doter Dilemmas because it’s Housekeeping Day. They address playground etiquette and the age-old question: when is it actually acceptable to go up the slide? Plus, is it OK to say no to the kids when you’ve got absolutely nothing left in the tank? From Parliament House to the playground… just another week in the life of Two Doting Dads. This week the guys are going against everything they've ever promised, diving headfirst into your parenting dilemmas... with a sprinkle of advice for the Doters. 💥 Does moving away from your best mate mean the friendship is destined for the group chat graveyard? 🚸 What age should kids be allowed to walk to school on their own? 🍺 And how on earth do you tell your partner it's time to ease up on the booze... without it backfiring? As always, Ash has some seriously good advice that every couple could take something from. Plus, Matt shares a worrying update after Buster is rushed in for emergency surgery. And if you're wondering why Matt's wearing a very special T-shirt, it's for Frankie, the daughter of one of our favourite guests, Jackson. The shirts are raising money to support children living with cerebral palsy. If you'd like to help out (and score a great tee), you can grab one here. ______________________________________________________________________________ If you need a shoulder to cry on:  Two Doting Dads Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/639833491568735/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheTwoDotingDads  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/twodotingdads/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@twodotingdads  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

School's back, which means the guys are already feeling defeated by the daily lunchbox battle so they've called in the expert – qualified nutritionist Jules from The Bable (The Baby Food Bible) – to show them not only how to pack a healthy lunchbox the kids will actually eat but how to feed children confidently from babies right through to the school years. With Matt navigating solids with Poppy, Jules shares everything any new parent needs to know about breastfeeding, introducing solids, baby-led weaning, fussy eaters, family meals and some genuinely game-changing lunchbox hacks that even the boys couldn't believe. Then it's time for the ultimate lunchbox battle. The guys go head to head with their lunchboxes and Jules will be the judge. There are some brutal scores, plenty of laughs and one clear winner crowned the supreme lunchbox master. If mealtimes feel like a daily battle in your house, this episode is packed with practical advice you'll actually use.
