| 9/21/25 | More Than Anxiety: Understanding PANS/PANDAS | Stacy and Heather chat with Renee Haber, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in treating PANS (Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) and PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections). PANS/PANDAS is a neuroimmune condition where infections in the body can trigger sudden, severe psychiatric symptoms—often misdiagnosed as anxiety, depression, OCD, and other mental health disorders. Renee explains how she works therapeutically with children and families while guiding them to the right physicians for accurate screening and treatment, what parents, educators, and clinicians need to look for, and why early recognition is essential for positive outcomes. If you or someone you know has ever faced a sudden onset of mental health symptoms that didn’t quite add up, this conversation could provide the missing piece. | 9/7/25 | Leave “Them” Alone: Tackling The Pronoun Debate | In this episode, we dive into the cultural conversation around gender identity and the growing use of they/them pronouns. Why are kids pushing back against traditional gender roles? Why does it spark so much fear and resistance from parents? And what does it actually mean when a young person is exploring their identity outside of old binaries? We unpack the anxieties, the myths, and the realities behind this shift, while asking: how can families respond in ways that encourage authenticity instead of fear? This isn’t just about pronouns—it’s about breaking free from indoctrination, rethinking identity, and allowing kids to find themselves in a rapidly changing world. | 8/24/25 | Why AI Can't Replace Therapy: The Need For Humans In Healing | In this episode, we explore why artificial intelligence, no matter how advanced, can never replicate the transformative power of human therapy. While AI offers quick validation and instant responses, therapy is far more than problem-solving — it’s a nuanced process rooted in trust, transference, and the healing relationship between client and clinician. We discuss how true therapeutic growth comes from the corrective emotional experiences only a trained therapist can provide. Unlike AI, therapists navigate the complexities of human emotions, guide clients through deeper exploration, and foster lasting repair that technology simply cannot replicate. Join us as we unpack the risks of relying on AI for mental health support, the dangers of reducing complex human struggles into simplistic solutions, and why the human connection at the heart of therapy remains irreplaceable. AI might give an instant simplistic response, but it cannot heal. | 7/27/25 | Escaping into Empires: Star Wars and the Psychology of Fandom | In this episode, we journey to a galaxy far, far away to explore the very real psychology behind fandom. Using Star Wars as our launchpad, we dive into the emotional draw of expansive fictional universes and why they resonate so deeply with us. From analyzing iconic characters to unpacking the societal nuances reflected in their stories, we ask the timeless question: why do people do that? Our guest, Kristine McPartlin — host of @MindtheForce , a podcast dedicated to examining mental health through the lens of Star Wars—joins us for a thoughtful conversation on how fiction mirrors reality. | 6/29/25 | Unity In a Polarized Community: Finding Humanity Through Empathy with Rebecca Sanin | In this powerful and timely episode, I sit down with Suffolk County Legislator Rebecca Sanin to discuss the critical importance of the upcoming local elections and the often-overlooked role local government plays in shaping our daily lives. But the conversation goes much deeper than politics—we explore the current political climate and the growing divide across the country. Rebecca brings thoughtful insights into what’s fueling this polarization, from cognitive dissonance and fear to the breakdown of meaningful communication. Together, we unpack how individual citizens can take small but impactful steps toward bridging the divide, fostering unity, and building a more harmonious society. We dive into the tough questions: How do we have unifying conversations in such a tense environment? What does it take to truly listen to — and understand — those we may not agree with? And how can we find common ground without compromising our values? | 6/15/25 | PRIDE Saves Lives : The Healing Power of Being Seen | In this powerful and timely episode, we explore the roots of Pride—where it started, why it began, and what it truly means to be seen, validated, and supported. More than a celebration, Pride is a lifeline, especially for those in marginalized communities who are too often erased or targeted. We look at the mental health impacts of visibility, the weight of erasure, and the strength that comes from being recognized for who you are. As we navigate today’s hostile political climate—from surging anti-LGBTQ+ legislation to the dangerous rhetoric amplified on social media—we reflect on how the fight for equality has come full circle. With a focus on the trans community and the ongoing assault on their rights and humanity, we examine how Pride remains as essential today as it was a century ago. This episode is a call to remember, to resist, and to rise together. We are pleased to invite you to this informative conversation with some of the management team, Hunter Coggins, LMSW, and Andi Frobosilo, LMSW, from PFY to discuss their experiences working directly with the LGBTQ+ community. | 5/18/25 | Breaking The Reflection: Separating Your Story From Your Child's | Do you sometimes feel your child's successes—or failures—reflect directly on you? You're not alone. In this episode, we explore the powerful, often unconscious ways parents project their unresolved issues onto their children. When we see our kids as extensions of ourselves, we may inadvertently make them responsible for our self-worth, tying their achievements to our value and fearing judgment through their choices. This dynamic can disrupt a child’s developing identity, strain the parent-child bond, and contribute to anxiety, confusion, and even depression—for both parent and child. Together, we'll unpack how these patterns form, how to recognize when you're slipping into them, and how to begin shifting toward a healthier, more supportive relationship with your child. You'll learn how to tell the difference between truly encouraging your child versus subtly projecting your unmet needs onto them. If you're ready to break the cycle and parent from a place of clarity and compassion, this episode is a powerful first step.
