Chef and content creator, John Gregory Smith, joins Gaby Roslin for a natter about food and feasting and all things joy! John talks about his brilliant career, his love of food, the amazing places across the world where he has cooked and why he loves sharing recipes and tips. He also natters about new book - The Greatest Traybake Book Ever - which is full of really easy and delicious recipes.

Natalie and Nicole Appleton join Gaby for a trip down memory lane, celebrating all the things they are thankful for in life - and sharing what brings them joy. They chat about their love of singing and musicals, their new music and the simple joy of walking their dogs and being in nature. Gaby reminisces about All Saints' trousers (and how many pairs she bought to be just like them) and asks whether All Saints would ever get back together. Gaby is joined by Jordan Adams - one of the FTD Brothers - who tells us all about his journey with dementia and the importance of finding the joy in things every day. Jordan and his brother are on a mission to cure dementia before it takes their own lives. They have raised an amazing amount of money so far - and continue to do so, through running! And here's a little more about Jordan and his family's journey:"After our mum’s passing, our sister Kennedy felt a burning need to know whether she would inherit the same illness. Through family connections in Ireland, she arranged an appointment at the Dublin Neurological Institute with Professor Tim Lynch, who had researched familial FTD within our family.Kennedy underwent research studies and genetic counselling before receiving her test result in 2018. She had inherited the normal copy of the gene from our dad — meaning she would not develop FTD.For the first time in years, we had good news.Kennedy was able to move forward, start a family, and live without the shadow we had all been carrying. Her bravery gave Jordan the courage to follow the same path. In September 2018, Jordan received his result: a carrier of the faulty MAPT gene, meaning he will develop the same form of dementia as our mum.Jordan describes that diagnosis as a 'licence to live'. Knowing what lies ahead has sharpened every decision since — including the decision to ensure this disease is not passed on further. Tragically, earlier this year, Jordan and his partner Agnès learned during a pregnancy that their child had also inherited the faulty gene, and they were unable to continue. Their journey to start a family continues."

He talks about how emotional he got at his daughter Holly's wedding to Adam Peaty, and being wracked with nerves about the speech. He and Gaby also reminisce on the time he cooked her and Terry Wogan lunch - and how and why he still has as much passion for cooking as he did on day one. And of course - they chat about Kitchen Nightmares!

Singer/Songwriter Mika joins Gaby for a chat about all things joy. He tells the story of watching Wicked with the composer Stephen Schwartz and singing with Ariana Grande. After seven years, he's back with new music, and wants to spread joy through his live shows. They talk about Mika's childhood, and how his mother 'collected' people - bringing lots of amazing characters into their home to live - and how they actually inspired some of his songs on his first album. (if you look at the video for 'Grace Kelly' - you'll see them!) Mika listens to birdsong regularly - sometimes in the garden, but also to playlists of tropical creatures. Did you know birdsong is medicine for your brain? When you hear birdsong, it means there's no trouble around! (you learn something everyday don't you!) Ruth Jones joins Gaby Roslin for a chat about bringing people joy through her characters and writing - and - the things that make her smile. Ruth is known for co-creating Gavin & Stacey, and playing the iconic character of Nessa, as well as Fat Friends, Stella and several novels along the way too. She chats to Gaby about how much her stories and characters have meant to her, and others, and how now - as she approaches 60 - she's taking a different approach to life.

Gaby welcomes entrepreneur, foster dad and all-round inspiring human, Peter Mutabazi, to the podcast. Peter's story is UNBELIEVABLE - and yet, it's all true. He tells Gaby about how he was treated by his own father when he was young, how he chose to live in sewers, and how the kindness of a stranger changed his life. Peter has now fostered 47 kids - and adopted 4. He's a single dad who has worked for the Red Cross and World Vision and who spreads joy every day on his socials and in his life.
