| 10/16/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #100: The Show I Never Thought I'd Make | In a show that is equal parts celebration, reflection, and anticipation, Wayne and Kevin reach the one hundred episode milestone with the same curiosity and excitement about film photography that Kelley and Kevin had when they recorded show #1 just over eight years ago. The Shutter Brothers take time to reflect on all that has changed since then, and then they dive right into the future - their 5th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers on October 24 in Huntsville, Alabama. The Show wraps up with some great listener email and a recap of Kevin's recent trip to Ireland. Thanks for listening, and Happy Photography! | 1h 48m 27s | ||||||
| 9/26/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #99: Wayne Once Shot Color | It's late September, and the leaves in much of North America are finally beginning to show their fall colors. Perhaps this helped inspire Shutter Brother Wayne to open his box of beautiful 4x5 color transparencies (yes, Wayne once shot color!) and lay them out on the light table and think about how to scan them. Since Wayne has never before scanned film, he would really like some help from our faithfull listeners. Recently, Wayne visited a local estate sale that featured some photography gear, included somthing at Wayne hoped to bring home. And he would have succeded if it hadn't been for that breakfast sandwhich he stopped for on the way. Nevertheless, he did come away with several interesting items with "Hasselblad" on them. Listen to find out what they are. Next, Kevin discusses a photo book that left him confused after the first and second time through. The book is Skogen by Robert Adams, a photographer near and dear to Kevin's heart. Listen to find out what happened on the third pass. The 5th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers is scheduled for Saturrday, October 24, in Huntsville, Alabama. Wayne and Kevin would love to see you there, and you an see all the details here. Happy Photography everyone! Now go get some good pictures! | 1h 04m 50s | ||||||
| 9/19/26 | Uncle Jonesys's Cameras Podcast #98: The Final Answer | Wayne and Kevin (The Shutter Brothers) are back - and Kevin has finally made a decision as to which cameras he will be taking to Ireland later this month. You'll have to listen to find out, but know this: it's the Final Answer! Menwhile, Wayne has some thoughts about his Canon Canonet QL GIII and what part it might play in his future photography endeavors. Both the Shutter Bros. have been doing some darkroom printing lately, and Kevin has made use of a handy tool, the Ilford EM10. Listen to hear how it might help you. Some listener email and a discussion of the forthcoming 5th Annual Photowalk With the Shutters round out the show. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 24 in Huntsville, Alabama for a day of photography, fellowship, and fun! Check out our show notes at www.unclejonesyscameras.blogspot.com for more details. Happy Photography! | 1h 04m 12s | ||||||
| 8/25/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #97: National Parks Photographer | The Shutter Brothers are back with a new show and a question: Which phtographer do most associate with the National Parks of the United States? Ansel Adams? Charlton Watkins? How about Timothy O'Sullivan? Actually, the photographer who should be synonymous with the US National Parks is a name you probably haven't heard of: George Alexander Grant. Kevin recently discovered a fascinating book about Grant and his amazing National Park photography, and he reviews it on the show. Meanwhile, Wayne and Kevin sort through some great listener email and discuss more details about the 5th Annual Photowak with the Shutter Brothers scheduled for Saturday, October 24 in Huntsville, Alabama. Mark your calendars now! Chec out our show notes at www.unclejonesyscameras.blogspot.com. Happy Photography! | 1h 17m 23s | ||||||
| 8/8/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #96: The Great Film Photo Meetup II - Louisville! | The Great Film Photo Meetup II is happening this weekend, so Shutter Brothers Wayne and Kevin discuss all the details about this terrific opportunity to meet and mingle with film photogrpahy podcasters and enthusiats in the great city of Louisville, KY. Be there is you can. Meanwhile, the Shutter Bros ask the question, "What makes a great vacation walk around camera?" The Canon Canonet QL17 GIII is considered to be one of the best, but what about the Hasselblad 500CM? Kevin recently had the chance to walk around with both cameras while on vacation, and he pesents a full report. Finally, Wayne and Kevin discuss deatils of the 5th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers on Saturday, October 24, in Huntsville, AL. Mark your calendars and make your plans to participate. Check out our show notes at https://unclejonesyscameras.blogspot.com. Happy Photography! | 1h 10m 33s | ||||||
| 7/17/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #95: Hot Hot Hot! | With apologies to our southern hemisphere listeners, it's been really hot here in eastern Tennessee - so hot, in fact, that neither Wayne nor Kevin have felt very much like getting out with a camera. So, what does a dedicated photographer do when it's too hot to shoot? Lot's of things, actually, and the Shutter Brothers happily share some things to do when you can't get out. Meanwhile, Wayne had been busy making more prints for his Random Works of Art project, and pretty soon some lucky people will have the chance to own a genuine Wayne Setser print. Finally, the Shutter Bros read some great emails from our faithful listeners. Our show notes can be found at www.unclejonesyscameras.blogspot.com. Happy Photography! | 1h 17m 10s | ||||||
| 6/29/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #94: Our First Fight | Wayne and Kevin have a friendly discussion (arguement) over the authenticity of photographs that are printed by someone other then the photographer are valid expamples of the photographer's work. Kevin says yes, while Wayne says no. What's your opinion? Let us know with an email to [email protected]. Meanwhile, Kevin presents a review of Stephen Shore's book, The Nature of Photographs, and Wayne leads a discussion of large format camera movements. The Shutter Brothers finish the show with some excellent listener email. We are grateful for all our listeners, especially those who write to us. Also, we send a special shout out to listeners who support us at https://ko-fi.com/unclejonesyscameraspodcast. Thank you, and Happy Photography! | 1h 26m 08s | ||||||
| 6/11/26 | Uncle Jonesys Cameras Podcast #93: Random Acts of Art | Shutter Brothers Wayne and Kevin are back with some great listener email about mixing your own photo chemistry, wide angle lenses for large format cameras, and a topic close to Wayne's heart: spreading kindness through art. Wayne ielplains how he is rebooting his Random Acts of Art project by making small prints, matting them, and leaving them in random places for people to find. Meanwhile, Kevin continues to work out which cameras to take to Ireland this fall, and his most reason idea allows for him to shoot both color and b&w film with the same camera. Listen to find out how. Happy Photography everyone! | 1h 15m 14s | ||||||
| 5/17/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #92: Enter the Hasselblad | The Shutter Brothers are back, and Kevin has a new light meter to discuss - the KEKS M Light Meter for Leica M cameras. The meter is based on the hansome and functional Leica MR Meter (which Kevin also owns), but the electronics and display are greatly updated to make a good user experience. Kevin's thoughts here are first impressions - no pictures yet - so stay tuned for a full review. Meanwhile, the Shutter Bros' interest in 6x6 cameras continues as Kevin compares his recent experience with a Rolleiflex 2.8D with his own Rolleicord Va. The Rolleiflex has things going for it for certain, but Kevin's recent experiences with his Rolleicord havr been very successful. So what happens when a Hasselblad 500 C/M gets added to the mix? Wayne's show continues at The Arts Center in Athens, Tennessee through May 22. Go see it if you can. Wayne and Kevin have more great listener email to read. We'd love to hear from you as well, so write us at [email protected]. Happy Photography! | 1h 27m 35s | ||||||
| 5/3/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #91: It's All In the Book | Wayne and Kevin get together at The Arts Center in Athens, where Wayne's restrospective exhibit, Things I've Seen: Fifty Years of Analog Photography, is ongoing until May 22, to discuss Wayne's new book by the same name. The book contains every photograph that is in the show, and it looks splendid! If you can't get to Athens to see the show, you can get your own copy by sending us an email to [email protected]. Wayne and Kevin have some great listener email to read, and Kevin makes an impassioned plea to 7Artisans for the opportunity to test and review their new M 35mm f2.8 lens for both Leica M and M39 mounts. Thanks for listening, and Happy Photography! Go get some good pictures! | 56m 04s | ||||||

| 4/12/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #90: Everyone Needs a Filter (Or Do They?) | In this episode, Wayne and Kevin work through the subject of filters for film phtography. In the old days , filters were the next gear the camera store sales person tried to sell you after a camera and lenses. But are the that important? How often does Wayne (who has been shooting large format photography for over four decades) put a filter in front of his lens? You will be surprised by his answer. Nevertheless, filters have their place, and the right filter at the right time and place can make or break a picture (just ask Ansel Adams). Next, Kevin shares a tale of woe regarding a few rolls of Kentmere 400 that he recently shot and deveoped with the same workflow he's followed for years with other films. It seems that reading and following the instructions for each brand of film is much more important than Kevin had thought. Don't forget that Wayne had a major retrospective show of fifty years of photography coming up. You can find the details here. As always, we highly value and appreciate feedback from our listeners. You can reach us by email at [email protected] or by commenting on either our Facebook or Instagram pages. Finally, you can access our show notes at unclejonesyscameras.blogspot.com. Happy Photography everyone! Go get some good pictures! | 1h 07m 46s | ||||||
| 3/29/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #89: Wayne Puts On a Show! | The Shutter Brothers are back - and Wayne has big news! The Athens Council of the Arts is presenting a restrospective show of Wayne's fifty years of photography from April 20 until May 22 at The Arts Center in Athens, Tennessee. This exhibit will include over fifty of Wayne's favorite photographs, and the opening recepition will be held on Friday, May, 8, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. This is your opportunity to view experience Wayne's amazing photography first hand. Having a show like this is the dream of many photographers, so this show is mostly dedicated to a discussion of what goes into making a show like this happen. Wayne discusses how he selected the prints to be included, what prints needed re-printing, what are the important details of matting and framing the prints, the sequencing and arranging of the prints, and the arriving at a price for each print. There is more involved with the process that you can imgagine. The show wraps up with some listener email and recognition of listeners who have supported the show financially. Thank you! | 1h 20m 26s | ||||||
| 2/19/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #88: It's Hip to Be Square | The Shutter Brothers are back with a big surprise! Wayne is shooing a 6x6 cm twin lens reflex camera ("I never thought it would happen," said an astonished Kevin). Yes, after a visit to his repair bench, Wayne is shooting his Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex TLR - and enjoying it! So, the Shutter Bros. discuss TLRs (Kevin's is a Rolleicord Va) and how to shoot and print square images. Nest, Wayne and Kevin take on the why and how of making contact proof sheets and how they can help make darkroom printing easier. Also, there's listener email and thoughts about our next Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers. For the first time ever, we are giving our listeners a chance to support the podcast financially as a way to defray production and hosting costs. Wayne and Kevin have committed to mak8g two podcast shows each month, so your help will be greatly appreciated. You can support us on Ko-fi here. Thank you! Happy Photography! | 1h 23m 02s | ||||||
| 1/9/26 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #87: Slow or Fast, It's All About the Print | The Shutter Brothers are back in 2026 and ready to make a show about the joy of darkroom printing. So, after a morning printing session at the new Safelight District Community Darkroom, Wayne and Kevin are ready to share tips on how to make more and better prints from your negatives. Along the way they discuss different approaches to making test strips, which can not only save time and money, but also help get the best image on paper. Also, in response to a listener question, Wayne explains how split grade printing can be used to dial in the right amount of exposure in both highlight and shadow areas. Meanwhile, Kevin is interested in a different sort of printing: Poloaroid instant photography. He recently tried to use his beloved SX-70 SONNAR One Step for some holiday fun, but he could not find his neutral density filter that enables him to shoot Polaroid 600 film instead of the SX-70 film the camera was build to use. And while Tori Fyth Elliot, the owner of Safelight District Community Darkroom, was able to save the day by loaning Kevin a Polaroid 600 camera to use, Kevin is giving serious thought to having his SX-70 SONNAR serviced and modified to natively shoot 600 film. Listen to the show to hear all the advantages of this. It's a new year, and Wayne and Kevin are already thinking about the 5th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers. If you live in the southeastern Unitted States and would like to suggest a location for this year's photowalk, send them to us at [email protected]. Happy Photography! | 1h 35m 23s | ||||||
| 11/14/25 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #86: Chatt With Matt | The Shutter Brothers are back - and the have a special guest. Wayne and Kevin welcome Chattanooga area photographer Matt Dunmore to show #86 for a conversation about gear, subject selection, and his passion for capturing images on film. The Shutter Bros plus Matt also recap the 4th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers and discuss plans for future events. Finally, congratulation to Tori Fyfe and Safelight District Community Darkroom, who recently moved into a much larger and nicer space. Tori graiously allowed the Shutter Brothers to record this podcast there, and it was quite fun. Thank you Tori! Happy Photography! | 1h 18m 21s | ||||||
| 9/26/25 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #85: How to Ruin a Perfectly Good Hobby | To Shutter Brothers Wayne and Kevin, photography is a hobby. We're not pros. We do it for fun and fulfillment. But as Kevin found out, a hobby can be ruined if the fun is squeezed out by other things. This show is dedicated to keeping you from ruining your photography hobby and how to repair the damage if you have. Listen to learn what Kevin is doing to put the fun back into film. The 4th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers is just over a month away, and we have details. The date: Saturday, October 29. The time: 8:00 am CDT. The place: Old Stone Fort State Archaelogical Park near Manchester, Tennessee. We really hope you can attend! The show wraps with listener email, Rock City Gardens, barns, and . . . cows! Happy Photography! | 1h 33m 56s | ||||||
| 8/24/25 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #84: Shoot Film Save Money | Is is possible to be a film photographer and save money? Shutter Brothers Wayne and Kevin think so, and they break it down in their latest UJC Podcast. And it's not just about shooting cheaper film. The Shutter Bros. also share memories of The Great Film Photo Meetup, which took place August 9-10 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Well over twenty film photographers (ncluding several podcast hosts) from from at least seven states gathered in The Scenic City to make photographs and get to know each other. The event was a complete success, and the only question now is where will it be held next year? Stay tuned. Wayne and Kevin round out the show with an email updste from listener Ryan regarding his effort to use an LED light source for his enlarger. Happy Photography! | 1h 23m 05s | ||||||
| 8/2/25 | Uncle Jonsesy's Cameras Podcast #83: The Great Film Photo Meetup | What happens when you get a bunch of film photography podcasters and YouTubers together? You can find out on Saturday and Sunday, August 9-10 in Chattanooga, Tennessee when Mike Gutterman and Mike Kukavica (Negative Positives Film Photography Podcast), Joe Pollock and Clayton Sharp (Joe, Clayton, and Mike Make a Film Photography Podcast), Bill Maning (Studio C-41), Dave Mihaly (The Old Camera Guy) Billy Sanford (O Me! O Life!) join Wayne and Kevin gather together for two days of film photography fun! And gues what?! You are invited too! Yes, this is your opportunity to meet, greet, and photograph with your favorite film photography podcasters (you've heard of us, right?). Of course you have! We will meet together on Saturday, August 9 at 10:00 am in front of the Tennessee Aquarium at the north end of Broad Street to begin our photowalk, then we'll break for lunch at 1:30 pm. Next, you're invited to see a darkroom printing demonstration at Safelight Community Darkroom, followed by drinks and socializing at one of Chattanooga's brew pubs. On Sunday, August 10, Wayne will lead everyone in a nature photowalk at Laurel Snow State Natural Area near Dayton, Tennessee beginning at 10;00 am. We'll see you in Chattanooga! Happy Photography! | 20m 47s | ||||||
| 7/17/25 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #82: Triptych the Light Fantastic | After an early summer break, Wayne and Kevin have film to develop, prints to make, and project to pursue. Kevin's project has been making contact print triptychs using one of the cheapest new cameras availbable today, the "Plastic Filmtastic" Debonair 120 from the Film Photography Store. This $20 camera often gets compared with the legandary Holga, but it is not the same camera. While the Debonair also has a plastic lens, Kevin believes that it makes better photographs than the Holga while still producing vintage vignetting effects. However, what really separates the Debonair from the Holga is that the Debonair makes 6x4.5cm rectangle images (as opposed to the Holga's 6x6cm square images). Inspired by Wayne's idea of using his Fuji GS645 camera as a medium format 'half-frame' camera, Kevin began photography old business signs with his Debonair with an eye toward contact printing three images on a singel 4x6 postcard. It's still in the 'proof-of-concept' stage, but the possibilities are real indeed! Meahwhile, Wayne empties out the UJC mailbag and reads some great listener feedback. And finally, the Shutter Brothers discuss the Great Film Photo Meetup Chattanooga, which happens on Saturday and Sunday, August 9-10. Happy Photography! | 1h 18m 48s | ||||||
| 5/22/25 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #81: You Should Have Been There | The Shutter Brothers are waxing nostalgic about the old days of local camera and photography shops - and that's easy for them to do, because Kevin spent many happy hours hanging out in them, and Wayne actually work in and owned one. All we can say is "you should have been there," because it was a magical as you would expect - if you are as crazy about cameras as we are. The official start of summer is just days away, and both Wayne and Kevin are thinking about travel photography and (of course) travel film cameras. So, Wayne gives a run down of his recent acquistion the Fuji GS645 Professional Wide 60 medium format rangefinder camera and how it might be a good choice for travel photography. Meanwhile, Kevin is preparing for his first ever trip to California by choosing a camera to take along. You guessed it, it's his Leica M2. What is your go to travel film camera? The Shutter Brothers are excited about a photowalk that will take place in Chattanooga on August 9-12 involving many of your favorite film photography podcasters. Listen for details. Oh, and we also give away a Minolta Maxxum XTsi AF 35mm AF camera complete with a Minolta AF 35-70mm f4 zoom lens. As always, we'd love to hear from our listeners, so drop us a line at [email protected] and tell us abour your photography. Also, you can follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and feel free to leave your feedback there. And don't forget to check out our show notes. Until next time . . . Happy Photography! | 1h 03m 46s | ||||||
| 4/12/25 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #80: Everyday I Shoot the Book | The Shutter Brothers (Wayne and Kevin) are back and ready to talk about photobooks. Kevin has recently become acquainted with the published work of the American photographer, Robert Adams, and in particular his book, Summer Nights, Walking. Having found several YouTube about Summer Nights, Walking, Kevin made the decision to find a copy and purchase it, and now he is able to view the photographs in the manner Robert Adams intended - in a finely published book. Does this matter? Listen to find out. Next, the Shutter Bros. discuss the concept of revisiting past photographic efferts and the good things that might result. Whether it be revisiting a subject, a darkroom print, or even a piece of grear, sometimes the passage of time alone can be worth the effort and produces a 'remake' that becomes the keeper. Kevin wants to give a big shout out to listener's Todd and Jason for generaouly sending him several darkroom prints over the past year or so. And speaking of sharing, Kevin is giving away his Minolta Maxxum XTsi 35mm camera paired with a Maxxum AF 35-70mm f4 zoom lens to a lucky listener. Finally, Wayne and Kevin have decided on a location for the 4th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers. You can enter the contest and/or send us comments, questions, tips, reviews, and stories to [email protected]. You also can find us on Facebook and Instagram, and feel free to leave your feedback there. Until next time . . . Happy Photography! | 1h 07m 19s | ||||||
| 3/26/25 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #79: A Tale of Two Adapters | The Shutter Brothers are back fresh from an early morning photowalk to Richey Ridge Falls (near Soddy Daisy, Tennessee) and are ready to share their recent experiences photographing both together and also with a group of fellow film photography podcasters at Old Car City in White, Georgia. Along the way, Wayne and Kevin disuss ideas for the 4th Annual Photowalk with the Shutter Brothers. It all starts with getting out with your camera ends with having a photograph to share. Ane speaking of sharing, Wayne is sharing some of his photography at the Annual Photography Exhibit & Competition at the Arts Center in Athens, Tennessee. The show is presented by the Athens Area Council for the Arts and runs from March 24 to May 30, 2025. If you live anywhere near East Tennessee, then make the trip to Athens to check out Wayne's work. Now that Kevin has the Leica M2 he's wanted for so long, it didn't take long for him to think about adding a 35mm lens to his kit. Actually, he already has a Leica 35mm lens, but it is a screwmount Elmar f3.5. Can it be used with a Leica M camera? The answer is "yes," if you have a LTM to M mount adapter. Leica made them back in the day, and now they are made cheaply in China. But just how compatible are they. Find out in the show. it's spring, and that means time for some de-cluttering. So, Kevin is giving away a camera! It's a fully functional Minolta Maxxum XTsi with a Minolta AF 35-70mm f4 zoom lens. It's the camera Kevin used for color photography on his Alaskan cruise last September, and now it can be yours. You can enter by email at [email protected]. Once agaiin our listeners chime in with some great email. We'd love to hear from you, too. Happy Photography! Wayne's photography can be seen at The Arts Center in Athens, Tennessee through May 30, 2025. Gegory Davis (The Naked Photographer) created two YouTube vieos about his experience with the Intrepid Enlarger, which used LED light to emulate contrast filters. https://youtu.be/Rqq_wwrZxk0?si=3JEXYBVQje9gBS3S https://youtu.be/bp7SN4ua1cw?si=XFeM1J4uo6lK3B_h | 1h 05m 09s | ||||||
| 2/12/25 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #78: M Bop | Wel it finally happened. Kevin now owns a Leica M2 after an unexpected local ad pops up. Not an impluse buy, mind you, as his search for the right M2 and the right time to buy it has been years in the making. but to say that Kevin is excited is quite the understatement. Meanwhile, Wayne has been playing with a compact German designed camera of his own, the Rollei 35. And compact doesn't really describe just how small this full frame 35mm rangefinder camera is. Ergonomic it is not, but could Wayne like it anyway? After some show and tell, the Shutter Brothers dive into some listener feedback, and once again, we all learn something in the process. We are thankful for our listeners, and we love hearing from them. So, please consider sending us an email ([email protected]) or posting a comment on our Instagram or Facebook pages (@UJCpodcast). And as always, you can find our show notes at https://unclejonesyscameras.blogspot.com. Happy Photography! | 1h 09m 36s | ||||||
| 1/26/25 | Uncle Jonesy's Cameras Podcast #77: What's in the Mailbag? | The Shutter Brothers are back with the first show of 2025, and its time to read some of the listener feedback that's in the UJC mailbag. Our listeners have lots of great questions and tips for us on topics like the best ways to meter with and without a light meter and the importance of shooting digital images in RAW format. And two of our listeners weigh in on why Kevin (who, as you no doubt know, has red green color blindness) can see colors more accurately when they appear on a screen as opposed to seeing them in person. We love the feedback we get from our listeners, and we will have more listener questions in our next show. Meanwhile, both Wayne has been having unexpected troubles with hs film development process. As you know, Wayne develops his Ilford FP4+ 4x5 inch film sheets in a self-mixed modified Caffenol CL developer. This highly compensating process is cental to getting the negatives to which he is accustomed, namely detail in both shadows and highlights. This results in negatives that, because they contain all the important "information," are easier to print. However, Wayne's last two batches have had brown streaks and over developed highlights. Wayne wants to know why and what he can do about it. you can always reach the Shutter Brothers at [email protected] or at our Facebook and Instagram pagers (@UCJpodcast).
