How to find podcasts by what they say, not what they're called.

The search bar sits at the top of every page and has two modes. Podcasts mode matches a show name, a host or a brand and autocompletes as you type, so you can tell the real feed from the copycats before you click. Topics mode searches what's said inside episodes. Use the first when you already know the show. Use the second when you know the subject.

Topics mode is for when you don't know the show's name. Ask it the way you'd ask a person, or the way you'd describe the subject in a pitch meeting: “How leaders make better decisions”, “AI and relationships”, “ketogenic therapy for mental illness”. The results come in two parts.

Podcasts about the topic

Every result card is already a decision: who publishes it, how big the audience is, how many episodes they've shipped, and where it charts, with the country flag right there. That's the qualification you'd normally spend an afternoon on, in one glance.

Episodes about the topic

Scroll down and the page does the thing directories can't. These are actual episodes, across unrelated shows, where somebody sat down and talked about exactly this, because CastFox searched inside the transcripts. An episode from last month is proof a host cares about your subject right now. That's your reason to reach out, and the line to open the email with.

The filters are where a brief becomes a search. Show activity, category, audience size, episode count, language and explicit content.

Audience size does the most work. Bigger isn't better: the 250K+ shows have gatekeepers and a six-month booking queue. The 10K to 50K range is where a client actually gets booked, and where hosts actually answer email.

When you don't know what to search for, ask. PodcastGPT answers in plain English from the CastFox database rather than from general web knowledge, so every recommendation is backed by a real listener estimate or chart position, and every show it names links to its profile. Good questions combine criteria a filter can't:

Describe, don't keyword

Topics mode works on meaning. "How leaders make better decisions" beats "leadership decisions".

Start narrow, then widen

Run the search with Active only and a Small audience tier first. Widen the tier only if the list is too short.

Read the episodes section

A show with three recent episodes on your subject is a warmer lead than a show that filed itself under the category.

Save as you go
