Our ranking pulls from four signals:
- Listener growth rate — how fast the audience is expanding over the last 90 days
- Episode consistency — shows that publish on a predictable schedule score higher
- Review velocity — new reviews signal active listeners, not just legacy subscribers
- Chart performance — peak positions and current rankings across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and regional charts
We weight recent data more heavily than historical. A show that peaked two years ago but is declining now ranks lower than a show that is actively building its audience today. That is a more useful signal for someone deciding what to start listening to.

Shows that fall off the top 50 are replaced by shows that are climbing. If a show has a particularly strong month, it moves up. If a show goes on hiatus or its growth rate drops, it moves down.
This is different from lists that are written once and sit static for years. If you bookmarked this page, checking it monthly will show you which shows are currently building momentum, not just which ones were dominant two years ago.
