True Crime Podcast Sponsors in 2026: 196 Brands Across the Top 80 US Shows
The true crime podcast sponsors buying the most inventory in 2026 are supplement and nutrition brands, personal finance apps, and direct-to-consumer apparel. CastFox scanned 1,949 episodes from the top 80 US true crime shows and detected 701 host-read ad reads naming 196 distinct brands. Only 28 of those 80 shows carried any detected read at all, and 91% of the reads sit on shows whose average US chart position is outside the top 20.
That last number is the one to plan around. The biggest names in the genre are not where the host-read money is. This post lists the brands running on more than one top show, groups every sponsor by what it sells, prints the roster for each show where we found ads, explains what the 52 shows with no detected reads are telling you, and gives hosts a target list. Every figure comes from CastFox chart and ad-read data, not from a media kit.

The 48 Repeat True Crime Podcast Sponsors
A brand that buys one show may have been sold once. A brand on two or more has a category plan, and that is the list worth copying. Of the 196 sponsors CastFox detected across the top 80 US true crime shows, 48 advertisers run on more than one of them. Quince is the widest by a distance at 9 shows and 26 detected reads, ahead of BetterHelp and Rocket Money on 5 shows each.
The shape of this list is different from business or technology podcasts, where software companies buy two shows each and stop. True crime is a direct-to-consumer category. The repeat buyers are supplements, apparel, money apps, pet food, and therapy services, all of them selling to an individual listener with a promo code attached, and almost all of them running on the same small group of host-led shows rather than across the genre.
Sponsor names are recorded as they are read aloud, so brand variants count separately unless we merge them here. KaChava is spoken three different ways in this data and has 20 reads across 6 shows once merged. IQBAR accounts for 25 reads on 4 shows across its two spellings, and Mint Mobile reaches 18 reads on 6 shows once the shortened read is folded in. Any of those three would move up several places in the table above.
Promo codes are the tell for how seriously a brand measures. Quince runs a different code on almost every show it buys, which means it can see what each placement returns and renew or cut on the number. A brand using one generic landing page everywhere cannot, and tends to leave the category after one flight without knowing why.
Brands That Advertise on True Crime Podcasts, by Category
Grouping the 60 widest-reaching sponsors by what they sell shows where true crime podcast money actually sits. The number in brackets after each brand is the count of ad reads CastFox detected for it across the top 80 shows. These 60 brands account for 463 of the 701 reads we found; the rest are spread across the long tail of 136 brands with one or two mentions each.

Supplements, nutrition drinks and hair care leads at 77 detected reads from 11 brands, with Personal finance, insurance and money apps close behind at 75 and Apparel, beauty and personal care at 68. Put those three together and you have 220 of the 463 reads in this table. The true crime advertiser is selling something a listener buys for themselves in the next ten minutes, which is why the creative is built around a code and a vanity URL rather than a brand impression.
Mental health, telehealth and care is smaller than its reputation at 36 reads from 5 brands, but it is unusually concentrated: BetterHelp alone accounts for 21 of them on 5 shows. Business tools, telecom and marketplaces at 51 reads is the only group here that sells to a business rather than a listener, and it is almost entirely Shopify, Whatnot and Gusto reaching side-business owners inside a consumer audience.
Two rows are not advertisers and are kept in the table for honesty. Podcast networks, shows and creator platforms at 60 reads is mostly shows and networks promoting their own feeds and memberships, including Patreon at 19 reads, which is usually a host plugging their own membership rather than a paid placement. Network house reads and unresolved labels at 35 reads is what a generic "see all our sponsors" read looks like after entity extraction: the same shortened link on two Exactly Right shows with no brand name spoken. Strip both rows out before you use this table as a spend benchmark.
For a brand planning a first true crime flight, read the fourth column. A category with several brands on two or more shows has a playbook competitors have already validated. A category with none has either not tested the genre or tested and stopped, and both are worth knowing before you commit budget.
Why the Biggest Shows Carry the Fewest Host-Read Ads
The single most useful finding in this data is a gap between chart position and host-read ad load. The 15 shows with an average US rank inside the top 20 carry 62 detected reads between them. Everything below rank 20 carries 639, or 91% of the total. Of the ten highest-ranked shows in the genre, 6 have no detected host-read ad at all, including Crime Junkie, Dateline NBC, 48 Hours, Love Trapped and MrBallen Podcast: Strange, Dark & Mysterious Stories.
That is not evidence those shows are unsponsored. It is evidence they are sold differently. The top of the true crime chart is dominated by studio and network shows, whose advertising is typically sold as a network package or inserted dynamically by an ad platform rather than read by the host in the episode audio, so an extractor reading episode transcripts does not see it. The shows that do show up in our data are host-led independents and small studios where the host reads the spot themselves.
The practical consequence for a buyer is that these are two different products with two different prices. A dynamically inserted spot on a chart-topping show buys reach and is priced on downloads. A host-read spot on a mid-chart show buys the host's credibility with an audience that has listened to them for years, and it is the format that produces the promo-code redemptions this whole category runs on. If your plan says "buy the top five true crime podcasts" and your creative is a host read with a code, the plan and the creative do not match.
It also explains why the shows with the deepest rosters sit where they do. True Crime with Kendall Rae averages rank 28.5 across 24 snapshots and carries 107 detected reads, more than the entire top 20 combined. National Park After Dark averages rank 56.3 and carries 86. Mid-chart and consistent is the profile advertisers in this genre keep paying for.

Inventory is concentrated. The top five shows in this table carry 378 of the 701 detected reads, or 54% of everything we found in the genre. True Crime with Kendall Rae leads with 107 reads from 15 distinct brands, followed by National Park After Dark at 86 and True Crime Obsessed at 71. If you want a true crime buy that looks like the ones already working, those five shows are the market.
Read the first two columns together. A high read count with a deep roster means a well sold show with a rotating advertiser list and an owner used to negotiating, which is where a first-time buyer gets a fair price and a fast answer. A high read count with two or three brands means a show with a small set of long-term partners, where the slot you want may not be open. National Park After Dark sits in the first group; Small Town Dicks with 10 reads from 2 labels sits in the second, and most of its reads are its own membership.
Country reach is the column buyers skip and should not. Morbid appears in 69 of the 78 markets CastFox tracks while several shows near the top of this table sit in fewer than fifteen. A US-only advertiser should prefer the narrow ones, because it is paying for downloads it can convert. A brand that ships internationally should weight the opposite way.
The 52 Top-80 Shows With No Detected Ad Reads
Most of the top 80 carried nothing we could detect, and in true crime that group includes the genre's biggest names. A zero here means no host-read sponsor mention was found in the episodes we processed. It does not mean the show has no advertisers: network-inserted spots, dynamically inserted audio, subscription feeds, and back catalogs that have not been processed all produce the same zero. These are the 24 with the strongest average US rank.

Three groups sit in this table. Network and broadcast shows sell through a sales house, so the buy is a conversation with a network rather than a host. Studio shows with a paid subscription tier monetize the listener directly and keep ad load low on purpose. And a handful are independents with a strong chart record and no visible advertiser at all, which is the group worth an email, because an unsold host-read slot on a show holding a top 100 position on 24 of 24 snapshots is the best value in this genre.
Treat the list as prospecting, not rejection. Ask the show whether it accepts host-read sponsorship, whether its ads are dynamically inserted or baked in, and what the last advertiser paid. The answers separate the three groups faster than any amount of listening.
How to Get Sponsors for a True Crime Podcast
The tables above double as a target list if you are the one selling. The 48 brands running on two or more top shows have already decided this genre works, have creative ready, and have someone whose job is placing the next buy. That is a far shorter conversation than convincing a brand that has never bought a true crime ad.
Pitch the brands already in your format, not your subject
No advertiser in this data is buying true crime because it likes true crime. Quince runs on a horror storytelling show, a comedy-inflected recap show, and a national parks show. BetterHelp runs on 5 shows that have almost nothing in common except a host talking directly to a regular listener. They are buying an intimate solo or two-host read, so lead your pitch with the format and the relationship, then name the show on their current roster you most resemble.
Bring a number the buyer can verify
Chart consistency travels well because a buyer can check it without trusting you. A show in a genre top 100 on 24 of 24 snapshots over six months is making a claim that stands up, and it is the same signal advertisers use to filter. Pair it with your hosting-platform download figure for the last 30 days per episode and your country split, and leave the lifetime totals out.
Offer a unique promo code before you are asked
Nearly every repeat sponsor in this genre runs codes, and most run a different one per show. Offering a show-specific code in the first email signals that you expect to be measured, which is the most persuasive thing a mid-sized show can do. It also turns the renewal conversation into a conversion number instead of a download number.
Ask for a two-episode test, not a quarter
Most of the single-show brands in this data started with a short flight on one show. A two-episode test with a code and a clear reporting promise is easy to approve at a level that does not need a media plan, and it is the standard way this category opens an account. Our guide to finding podcast sponsors with under 10K downloads covers the outreach sequence, and how to write a media kit that gets sponsors covers what to send.
Say what you will not run
True crime hosts handle sensitive material, and advertisers know a bad adjacency is a real risk in this genre. Stating your placement rules up front, such as where the break falls relative to case details and which categories you decline, removes the objection that keeps cautious brands out of the genre entirely. It is also the reason several of the shows in this data hold long-term partners rather than a churning roster.
How to Vet a Show Before Sponsoring or Pitching It
Rosters tell you who is buying. They do not tell you whether the next placement is worth the money. This is the four-step process CastFox is built around, and it works the same whether you are buying an ad or pitching a guest to the same show.
Discover: start from the sponsor roster, not the genre chart
Search by topic, audience, and country, then filter for shows that already carry advertisers in your category, because a show your competitor renews on has passed the hardest check for you. CastFox Discover searches 5M+ shows and surfaces sponsor history alongside the chart record, so the shortlist starts with evidence instead of a download claim. In true crime that filter matters more than usual, because the chart alone would send you to the 6 of the top 10 shows that do not sell host reads.
Analyze: check the record behind the roster
For each shortlisted show, read the same columns this post uses: snapshots in the top 100 for consistency, country reach for plausibility, the latest episode date for health, and the detected sponsors and promo codes for history. CastFox Analyze puts all of it on one page, which turns a week of listening into a ten-minute review.
Organize: group the shortlist by role
Split the list into proven shows with repeat sponsors in your category, reach shows with broad country footprints, and test shows with a strong chart and little ad history. Record the quoted rate, the placement, the flight dates, and the code for each. CastFox Organize keeps that list current, so a show that stops publishing mid-negotiation is visible before the insertion order is signed.
Pitch: go to a verified contact with a specific ask
Most true crime shows outside the networks are sold by the host or a producer, so the fastest path is a short message to the right person naming the roster you want to sit alongside, the flight you want, and the code you will use. CastFox Pitch supplies verified contacts and drafts the outreach from the show's own data. If you are weighing an ad against a guest appearance, Podcast Guesting vs Podcast Advertising compares the two.
Methodology: Where These Numbers Come From
CastFox records the Apple Podcasts genre charts daily in 78 countries. For this post we took the US True Crime chart across 24 snapshots from February 24, 2026 to September 8, 2026, ranked shows by how consistently they held a top 100 position, and kept the top 80.
For those 80 shows we scanned 1,949 episodes that have been through CastFox entity processing and extracted every host-read sponsor mention, promo code, and vanity URL. That produced 701 ad reads naming 196 distinct brands, on 337 of the 1,949 episodes. The tables above cover the 60 brands with the widest reach, ordered by the number of shows they appear on and then by ad reads.
Four limits are worth stating plainly. Sponsor names are captured as spoken, so variants of one brand count separately unless we merge them in the text, which is why KaChava and IQBAR each appear more than once. Ad reads are counted per episode mention, so a show that repeats a sponsor every week accumulates a high count without the buy being large. Dynamically inserted advertising is not in this data at all, which is the main reason the largest shows in the genre show zeros. And processed episodes do not cover every show's full back catalog, so a zero means no ad read was detected in the episodes we processed, not proof that a show has never had a sponsor. No CPMs, download figures, or rates appear on this page, because CastFox does not measure them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who advertises on true crime podcasts?
Across the top 80 US true crime podcasts, CastFox detected 701 host-read ad reads from 196 distinct brands between February 24, 2026 and September 8, 2026. The most widely placed is Quince on 9 shows, followed by BetterHelp and Rocket Money on 5 each, then Shopify and Earnin. By volume the biggest advertiser group is supplements and nutrition at 77 detected reads, ahead of personal finance at 75.
What is the most sponsored true crime podcast in 2026?
True Crime with Kendall Rae carries the most detected host-read advertising of any top-80 US true crime show, with 107 ad reads from 15 distinct brands across the episodes CastFox processed. National Park After Dark is second with 86 and True Crime Obsessed third with 71. The top five shows together account for 54% of every host-read ad we found in the genre.
How much does it cost to advertise on a true crime podcast?
CastFox does not measure rates, so no CPM on this page is a CastFox figure. Typical industry ranges for host-read podcast advertising run roughly $18 to $50 per thousand downloads depending on genre, placement, and flight length, and true crime usually sits in the middle of that band because inventory is plentiful and the audience is broad. Treat any quoted rate as a starting point and verify the download figure behind it first.
Why do the biggest true crime podcasts have no sponsors in this data?
They almost certainly have advertisers, but not the kind this method sees. 6 of the ten highest-ranked US true crime shows carry no detected host-read ad, and only 62 of the 701 reads we found sit on shows ranked inside the top 20. Network and studio shows tend to sell through a sales house and serve ads dynamically rather than have the host read them, so the spot is not in the episode audio our extraction reads.
What are the best sponsors for crime podcasts to pitch?
Start with the 48 brands already running on two or more top shows, because they have budget, creative, and a buyer in place. The densest categories are supplements and nutrition (77 detected reads), personal finance and money apps (75), apparel and beauty (68), and home and pet products (40). Pitch the ones whose current shows match your format, a solo or two-host read with a regular audience, rather than the ones whose subject matter sounds closest to yours.
Is it better to sponsor a show that already has advertisers or one that has none?
A show with repeat sponsors in your category has proven it can sell and that host reads convert, which is why buyers pay more for it. A show with none can be cheaper and far less cluttered, but you need to know why the slot is empty. In this data 52 of the top 80 shows had no detected host-read ads, and the reasons ranged from network-inserted advertising to paid subscription feeds to genuinely unsold inventory, so ask before you assume.
