Best Language Learning Podcasts 2026: Top 20 by Data: Ranked by Real Chart Data
Updated September 2026 · Based on CastFox data covering 24 Apple Podcasts chart snapshots in 78 countries (2026-02-24 to 2026-09-08) and 5M+ indexed podcasts
Search best language learning podcasts 2026 and you mostly get the same twenty names somebody typed out in 2019. This list is built from CastFox's Apple Podcasts chart data instead: all 20 shows below held a place in the US Language Learning top 100 in every one of the 24 chart snapshots we took between February 24 and September 8, 2026, out of 193 different shows that passed through that chart, and they are ranked by how consistently they charted, how high they averaged, and how many of the 78 countries we track they reached.
The category splits cleanly by target language. English learning is the biggest block with seven shows in this top 20, from the BBC's six-minute lessons to Luke Thompson's British English archive. Spanish is next with five, running from Coffee Break Spanish's beginner course to the comprehensible-input shows Dreaming Spanish and Simple Stories in Spanish. French has four, German two, and Italian and Japanese one each. Across the 100 highest-scoring shows in the category, English and Spanish together account for more than half of everything charting.
There is also a format split worth knowing before you subscribe to anything. Courses (the Coffee Break series) teach in order and start at absolute zero. Immersion and comprehensible-input shows (InnerFrench, Dreaming Spanish, Little Talk in Slow French) hand you slow, real speech and let you work it out. Conversation shows (the Easy Languages family, How to Spanish, All Ears English) give you the language as people actually use it and assume you can already follow along. Each card below shows the cover art, the publisher, what the show is, why it earned its place, who it is best for, and the chart record: how many of the 24 US snapshots it appeared in, its average US rank, and how many countries it charted in on the latest scrape.

How We Ranked These: CastFox Methodology
CastFox scrapes the Apple Podcasts charts every day in 78 countries and stores every position in the top 200 of every genre. For this list we took the 24 2026 snapshots of the US Language Learning chart between 2026-02-24 and 2026-09-08, and scored every show that appeared in the top 100 of any of them.
- Consistency (50% of the score): the number of snapshots in which the show appeared in the US top 100. Every show on this list scored 24 out of 24, which is the filter that removes one-week spikes.
- Average US rank (30%): the mean of the show's US chart positions across those snapshots. Lower is better.
- Global reach (20%): the number of tracked countries in which the show was in the genre top 100 on the most recent snapshot. This is what separates a show with a large US following from a show with a global one.
There are no paid placements and no editorial overrides. A few shows on this list would not be our personal picks; they are here because the chart data put them here, and we would rather show you what people are actually listening to than what we think they should be. Chart position is not the same as audience size, so treat the ranking as a measure of sustained popularity rather than a download count. For a deeper look at what chart data can and cannot tell you, read how podcast audience demographics are calculated.
How to Pick the Right Language Learning Podcast for You
What are the best podcasts to learn Spanish?
Coffee Break Spanish if you want a course that starts from zero, Dreaming Spanish and Simple Stories in Spanish if you want slow comprehensible input, Easy Spanish for unscripted conversation, and How to Spanish Podcast if you are aiming at a Mexican accent. Coffee Break Spanish sat at number 1 on the latest US snapshot and averaged rank 1.0 across all 24.
What are the best podcasts to learn French?
Coffee Break French for structured lessons from absolute beginner, InnerFrench once you can follow a slow monologue, Little Talk in Slow French for graded listening practice, and Easy French for two native speakers talking normally. All four appeared in every one of the 24 US snapshots we took this year.
What are the best podcasts to learn English for intermediate learners?
All Ears English Podcast is built specifically for intermediate to advanced learners and averaged rank 3.7 in the US this year. Luke's ENGLISH Podcast covers British English, Listening Time gives you unscripted American speech with a transcript for every episode, and BBC Learning English Conversations drills the phrases that come up in real exchanges.
What are the best podcasts to learn Japanese and Korean?
For Japanese, Nihongo con Teppei is the highest-placed show in the category and sat at rank 13 on the latest US snapshot. Japanese with Shun, Coffee Break Japanese and NHK WORLD-JAPAN's Easy Japanese all chart further down. Korean is thin here: From Zero to Fluent Korean is the only Korean show in the top 100 of our score, and it appeared in 14 of the 24 snapshots.
What are the best language learning podcasts for beginners?
The Coffee Break courses in Spanish, French, Italian and German all start at absolute beginner and step up a level each season, which makes them the safest starting point in any of those four languages. For Spanish, Dreaming Spanish and Simple Stories in Spanish are slower still, and just outside this top 20, Learn Italian with Joy of Languages teaches Italian in bite-sized pieces.
What are the best podcasts for learning a language while driving?
6 Minute English fits a short commute exactly, and the Coffee Break lessons are built around the length of a coffee break. For longer drives, InnerFrench, Easy German and Listening Time run monologue and conversation formats that work without a transcript in front of you. Leave the story and exercise-based shows for when you can read along.

It appeared in all 24 US snapshots between February 24 and September 8, 2026, averaged rank 3.3, and charted in all 78 countries we track, more than any other show in the category. Coffee Break Spanish has the better average rank at 1.0 but reaches 66 countries.
How is this list ranked?
Each show's score combines three things from CastFox's Apple Podcasts chart data: how many of the 24 US Language Learning snapshots taken between February 24 and September 8, 2026 it appeared in (50% of the score), its average US rank across those appearances (30%), and how many of the 78 tracked countries it charted in on the latest scrape (20%). If you are learning by shadowing or reading along, start with those.
Are these language learning podcasts free?
Yes. Every show on this list is free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the other major apps. Several run paid memberships on top of the free feed for transcripts, vocabulary helpers, bonus episodes or early access, but in all 20 cases the main feed costs nothing.
How do I find more language learning podcasts like these?
Use PodcastGPT Podcast Finder and describe what you want in plain English ("slow Spanish stories for beginners" or "British English conversation practice"). It searches by topic rather than by category name, and topic search finds individual episodes. The full live chart for this category sits at /best-podcasts/language-learning.
