Best New Podcasts 2026: The 42 Shows That Launched This Year and Charted
Updated October 2026 · Based on CastFox data covering 27 snapshots of 19 US Apple Podcasts top 100 charts (2026-02-24 to 2026-10-03) and 5M+ indexed podcasts
The best new podcasts 2026 has produced so far are led by America, Actually with Astead Herndon, American Power and Two Sons and Me. We checked 19 US Apple Podcasts genre charts across 27 snapshots between February 24, 2026 to October 3, 2026, looked at the 760 shows that moved on those charts, and found 42 that both published their first episode in 2026 and reached a top 100 chart.
That last sentence is doing more work than it looks. Most "new podcast" lists are assembled from press releases, so they are lists of launches, not lists of launches that found an audience. Every show below cleared a measurable bar: it appeared in at least one of our US top 100 snapshots this year. 9 of the 42 have reached the top 10 of their chart, and 20 have reached the top 25.
It is also a short list on purpose. Thousands of podcasts launched in 2026. 42 of them charted in the US and survived our launch test, which is the second thing this post does differently: a show only counts as new here if the oldest episode in its feed and the date the feed itself was first indexed are both in 2026. That rule threw out 22 shows whose feeds only keep recent episodes, including several that have been running for over a decade. The next section explains why that matters.
Chart position measures attention, not quality, and Apple does not publish download numbers, so nothing on this page is an audience estimate or a revenue figure. For the shows that own the top of each category all year instead, start from our best tech podcasts of 2026, best comedy podcasts of 2026 and fastest growing podcasts of 2026.

What Counts as a New Podcast, and Why 22 Shows Were Cut
The obvious way to find new podcasts is to look at the oldest episode in each feed. If the earliest episode is dated 2026, the show launched in 2026. Run that test on our data and 64 charting shows come back as 2026 launches. Most of them are not.
The reason is that a lot of feeds are rolling windows. A daily radio simulcast or a network show often keeps only the last 10, 20, 100 or 200 episodes available and drops everything older, so the feed's earliest episode is a few months old no matter how long the show has run. In our rejected set, one sports show had exactly 1,000 episodes in its feed with an earliest date in April 2026, which would be more than five new episodes a day. Round episode counts like 10, 20, 100, 200 and 1,000 are the tell.
So we require two signals, both in 2026: the oldest episode still in the feed, and the date the feed itself was first indexed. A show that has been publishing for years was indexed years ago, whatever its feed currently exposes. Of the 685 charting shows where we have a first-episode date at all, 64 had a 2026 earliest episode and 42 passed both tests. The 22 that failed are long-running shows with truncated feeds, and they are listed in the data file behind this post rather than hidden.
Two consequences worth stating. First, a show that launched in 2026 and never charted in the US is not here, however good it is; this is a chart list. Second, a show that launched in late 2025 and broke through in 2026 is not here either, because its first episode is dated 2025. If you want momentum regardless of feed age, our fastest growing podcasts of 2026 ranks by rank movement instead.
Best New Podcasts on Apple Podcasts: All 42 in One Table
Read the snapshot column next to the best-rank column. A high peak with 27 of 27 snapshots is a show with a floor under it. A high peak with 2 or 3 snapshots is a show that arrived well and has not been tested yet. Only 7 of the 42 appear in 20 or more of our 27 dates, and 9 were outside the top 100 across the entire prior window, which makes them arrivals rather than climbers. The last column is how many of the 78 country charts we track had the show in its top 100 on October 3, 2026.

Best Podcasts That Launched in 2026: The Top 20, Show by Show
Ranked by how high each show has climbed, weighted by how many of our 27 snapshots it appears in and how many country charts it reached, so a debut that stuck outranks a debut that spiked once. Every figure in the cards below comes from CastFox chart data, and everything said about a show comes from its own feed. The two windows referred to throughout are October 3, September 25, September 19 (recent) and September 8, September 4, August 18 (prior).
#1. America, Actually with Astead Herndon
Hosted by Vox Media · US Government chart
About this show: A weekly Vox Media politics show in which host Astead Herndon talks with people in politics, people in the news, and voters about the road to the next presidential election. The feed says new episodes land every Saturday.
Why it made the 2026 class: It is the top-ranked debut here because it clears both halves of the test at once, a high position and a long run. It has appeared in 23 of our 27 US Government chart snapshots since its April debut and it was inside the top 100 in 44 countries on our latest date. The chart record: first episode April 5, 2026, best rank #2, average rank #10.3 across 23 of our 27 snapshots, up 1 place between the two windows, charting in 44 countries on October 3, 2026.
Best fit for: Listeners who want election coverage built on interviews rather than daily news, and advertisers looking for a network-backed politics buy with reach outside the US.
#2. American Power
Hosted by Chad Scott, Nat Towsen, Mr. Global · US Government chart
About this show: A geopolitics show about where military strategy, energy markets and political decision-making meet, hosted by writer and comedian Nat Towsen with military strategist Chad Scott and an energy expert credited as Mr. Global.
Why it made the 2026 class: It holds the best average rank of any 2026 launch here, peaked at #2 on the US Government chart, and was in the top 100 in 45 countries on October 3. A high floor plus that much geography is unusual for a show six months old. The chart record: first episode March 31, 2026, best rank #2, average rank #6.1 across 23 of our 27 snapshots, up 3.3 places between the two windows, charting in 45 countries on October 3, 2026.
Best fit for: Listeners who want the systems underneath the headlines, and media buyers who want a defense, energy or macro adjacency without a legacy news brand attached.
#3. Two Sons and Me
Hosted by PodcastOne · US TV & Film chart
About this show: A PodcastOne family show in which Todd Chrisley sits down with his sons Chase and Grayson for weekly unfiltered conversation about the family and the years behind them.
Why it made the 2026 class: It reached #5 on the US TV & Film chart and has been in 23 of our 27 snapshots, and its average rank improved between our two most recent three-snapshot windows, so it is still climbing rather than sliding back after the launch spike. The chart record: first episode April 1, 2026, best rank #5, average rank #11.9 across 23 of our 27 snapshots, up 11.7 places between the two windows, charting in 7 countries on October 3, 2026.
Best fit for: Listeners who followed the family on television, and advertisers buying reality-TV audiences in the US.
#4. Dominican Sisters Open Mic
Hosted by Openlight Media · US Religion & Spirituality chart
About this show: Host Sr. Miriam, O.P. talks with the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, and occasional guests from outside the community, in Wednesday conversations about Dominican life.
Why it made the 2026 class: It launched in late January, among the earliest arrivals on this list, and it has held on: 21 of our 27 Religion & Spirituality snapshots, a peak of #6, and a presence in 28 country charts. Very few independently produced shows this young chart outside their home country at all. The chart record: first episode January 28, 2026, best rank #6, average rank #55.2 across 21 of our 27 snapshots, up 2.7 places between the two windows, charting in 28 countries on October 3, 2026.

#5. Notes from the Edge

About this show: Host Lisa Lacy, a writer and author, runs long unscripted interviews about survival, identity, leadership, relationships and reinvention. The show is part of the Gamut Podcast Network.
Why it made the 2026 class: It is the only 2026 launch in our data holding the number one position on its chart. It reached the top of the US Society & Culture chart and was still there on October 3, though it appears in only 7 of our 27 dates because it entered the chart in the summer. The chart record: first episode June 19, 2026, best rank #1, average rank #7.6 across 7 of our 27 snapshots, up 14.5 places between the two windows, charting in 1 countries on October 3, 2026.

About this show: Dr. Jen Ashton, who spent twelve years as ABC News Chief Medical Correspondent, works through research on women's health. The feed states the show is for educational and informational purposes and is not medical advice.
Why it made the 2026 class: It is the largest single move among all 2026 launches here: outside the US Health & Fitness top 100 across the whole prior window, then averaging inside the top 12 across the three most recent snapshots. It appears in only 3 of our 27 dates, so this is a strong arrival rather than an established run. The chart record: first episode June 4, 2026, best rank #7, average rank #11.7 across 3 of our 27 snapshots, new to the top 100 in the most recent window, charting in 6 countries on October 3, 2026.
Best fit for: Listeners who want research-led health explainers, and advertisers who need a credentialed host in a category where credibility is the whole buy.
#7. Paper Trail
Hosted by ProPublica · US Society & Culture chart
About this show: ProPublica's investigative show, guided by reporter Jessica Lussenhop, walks through the documents, recordings and whistleblower conversations behind the newsroom's stories.
Why it made the 2026 class: It peaked at #12 on the US Society & Culture chart and gained ground between our two most recent windows, so a show that launched in May is still improving rather than settling. The chart record: first episode May 7, 2026, best rank #12, average rank #35.3 across 10 of our 27 snapshots, up 22.7 places between the two windows, charting in 7 countries on October 3, 2026.

Why it made the 2026 class: A February launch that has been in 16 of our 27 US Business chart snapshots with a peak of #37. That is a rare run for an independent interview show with no network pushing it. The chart record: first episode February 3, 2026, best rank #37, average rank #45.1 across 16 of our 27 snapshots, up 5 places between the two windows, charting in 1 countries on October 3, 2026.
Best fit for: Listeners who want speaker and leadership interviews, and sponsors who want business reach without a top-20 rate card.

About this show: Host Mike Bascom, an estate planning attorney, works through estate and financial planning each week alongside financial professionals from Georgia.
Why it made the 2026 class: It reached #27 on the US Education chart and gained ground between our two most recent windows. For a single-practitioner show in a crowded category, holding a top 30 spot across 10 of our 27 snapshots is the signal worth noting. The chart record: first episode February 4, 2026, best rank #27, average rank #47.4 across 10 of our 27 snapshots, up 12.3 places between the two windows, charting in 1 countries on October 3, 2026.

Why it made the 2026 class: It peaked at #29 on the US Sports chart within three months of its June launch and gained ground between our two most recent windows, which is hard to do on a chart dominated by league-owned feeds. The chart record: first episode June 10, 2026, best rank #29, average rank #42.6 across 11 of our 27 snapshots, up 11.3 places between the two windows, charting in 1 countries on October 3, 2026.

Why it made the 2026 class: Daily shows usually need a brand behind them to chart at all. This one launched in June, reached #30 on the US Sports chart, and improved its average rank between our two most recent windows. The chart record: first episode June 15, 2026, best rank #30, average rank #39.4 across 10 of our 27 snapshots, up 6.7 places between the two windows, charting in 1 countries on October 3, 2026.

Why it made the 2026 class: It peaked at #5 on the US Music chart in the spring and has the widest chart run of any music launch here, 23 of our 27 snapshots. It drifted down from that peak over the summer and then gained ground again between our two most recent windows, so read the latest position as part of a swing rather than a level. The chart record: first episode March 26, 2026, best rank #5, average rank #48.4 across 23 of our 27 snapshots, up 20.7 places between the two windows, charting in 7 countries on October 3, 2026.

It was not inside the top 100 on October 3, so treat its position as a range rather than a level. The chart record: first episode May 12, 2026, best rank #22, average rank #46.5 across 15 of our 27 snapshots, up 15 places between the two windows, charting in 1 countries on October 3, 2026.

Why it made the 2026 class: True crime is the hardest chart here for a new show, because the category's incumbents rarely move. It still reached #24 and is in 18 of our 27 snapshots, the longest run of any 2026 true crime launch we found. The chart record: first episode April 28, 2026, best rank #24, average rank #67.5 across 18 of our 27 snapshots, up 2.7 places between the two windows, charting in 6 countries on October 3, 2026.

Why it made the 2026 class: It reached #6 on the US History chart, the highest peak of any history launch here, across 10 of our 27 snapshots. It was not in the top 100 on October 3, which is what a finite series looks like on a chart once the episodes stop arriving. The chart record: first episode June 18, 2026, best rank #6, average rank #42.1 across 10 of our 27 snapshots, up 2.3 places between the two windows, charting in 5 countries on October 3, 2026.
Best fit for: Listeners who want a documentary series with an ending rather than an open-ended show, and advertisers who want a defined prestige run.
The Rest of the 2026 Class
The remaining 22 shows all reached a US top 100 chart after a 2026 launch, but with a lower peak, a shorter run, or both. Each one below carries its chart record so you can see which is which. Everything said about the shows comes from their own feed descriptions.
Books, film and history
It Was A Book First (Arts, first episode June 4, 2026, best rank #38, 8 of 27 snapshots) is a weekly show on book-to-screen adaptations from culture reporters Sophie Vershbow and Rudi Greenberg. Shelf Respect (Arts, first episode February 13, 2026, best rank #16, 14 of 27 snapshots) is a books show from Knox McCoy, Jamie B. Golden and Erin Moon, and it peaked considerably higher than its current position. In history, If You Please, Himan Brown’s Radio Mystery Theater (History, first episode May 11, 2026, best rank #28, 10 of 27 snapshots) is a CUNY TV series rebroadcasting selected programs from the radio producer Himan Brown, while Biography (History, first episode May 20, 2026, best rank #70, 11 of 27 snapshots) is a NOISER series of profiles and has the widest geography of this group.
Society, politics and comedy
Hang Out with Sean Hannity (Society & Culture, first episode February 17, 2026, best rank #16, 16 of 27 snapshots) is a twice-weekly Fox News Media interview show that reached the top 20 of its chart. Bloodline Banter (Society & Culture, first episode January 16, 2026, best rank #40, 16 of 27 snapshots) comes from 2M Media Group and has one of the longer runs in this group. Reaching Out (Society & Culture, first episode June 10, 2026, best rank #50, 2 of 27 snapshots) is a Futuro Media narrative memoir about twin brothers searching for their biological father, which the feed says won the Audio Memoir Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. In comedy, Funny You Ask with Ike Barinholtz (Comedy, first episode February 27, 2026, best rank #25, 22 of 27 snapshots) is a weekly comedy trivia show and has the longest chart run of anything in this section, and Mystery Boys w/ Kurt Metzger & Duncan Trussell (Comedy, first episode May 18, 2026, best rank #42, 10 of 27 snapshots) is a YMH Studios show in which the two comedians chase conspiracies for laughs.
Health, leisure and music
Off the Couch Psychology (Health & Fitness, first episode May 8, 2026, best rank #48, 3 of 27 snapshots) is hosted by psychologist Dr. Jerry Cunningham and translates psychological topics for a general audience. Staying Human with Dr. Vivek Murthy (Health & Fitness, first episode May 19, 2026, best rank #39, 2 of 27 snapshots) is hosted by Dr. Vivek Murthy, who the feed notes served as US Surgeon General, and asks what it takes to live a fulfilling life. For hobbies, The Mahjcast: Two Bros Talk Mahjong (Leisure, first episode March 21, 2026, best rank #30, 9 of 27 snapshots) follows hosts Jason and Ira through American Mahjong and the culture around the game, and Cars & Friends (Leisure, first episode April 13, 2026, best rank #28, 12 of 27 snapshots) comes from the Cars & Bids team and is built on drafting and defending car picks. Living for the City (Music, first episode May 10, 2026, best rank #41, 14 of 27 snapshots) is a Side Stage series on how Detroit became a music city.
Technology, fiction, education and kids
The AI Power Podcast (Government, first episode May 4, 2026, best rank #30, 5 of 27 snapshots) is hosted by Gregory C. Allen on AI regulation, safety and economic policy; it charts under Government rather than Technology, which is where AI policy shows tend to land. Shots Fired in Anger (Technology, first episode March 23, 2026, best rank #46, 4 of 27 snapshots) is a brand-published feed with only a couple of episodes in it, so read its chart appearance accordingly. Phenomena Podcast: The Science & Stories of Energy Healing (Science, first episode April 26, 2026, best rank #25, 17 of 27 snapshots) describes itself as covering laboratory research into biofield therapies; we report its chart position and its own stated subject and make no claim beyond that. (Fiction, first episode June 8, 2026, best rank #54, 7 of 27 snapshots) is a full-cast comedy noir, and The Sound Of Home (Fiction, first episode June 16, 2026, best rank #59, 7 of 27 snapshots) is a Voyage Media scripted drama about a Native American veteran who becomes a singer. The Parent Chat with Dylan Dreyer (Kids & Family, first episode March 26, 2026, best rank #3, 11 of 27 snapshots) is a TODAY parenting show that reached #3 on the US Kids & Family chart, the third-highest peak of any 2026 launch in this data, although it sat near the bottom of the chart by our latest date. Thinking Boldly! (Business, first episode January 21, 2026, best rank #72, 5 of 27 snapshots) closes the list, hosted by attorney Heidi Webb and retired judge Julie Field on divorce and family law.
New Podcasts to Listen to in 2026, by What You Want
A ranking answers "which is biggest". It does not answer "which should I press play on tonight". These groupings are built from the same 42 shows.
New podcast releases worth listening to if you only add one show
America, Actually with Astead Herndon is the safest single pick in the 2026 class: a weekly interview show with a network behind it, a place in 23 of our 27 snapshots, and reach in 44 countries. If politics is not your category, Critical Darlings is the equivalent in film and Homicide 360 in true crime, both of which have charted in more than half of our snapshots since launching.
If you want something with an ending
Two of the strongest 2026 launches are finite rather than open-ended. Reconstruction: The Unfinished Promise is a 10-episode narrative history from Higher Ground Audio; it peaked at #6 on the US History chart and then left the top 100 once the episodes stopped arriving, which is what a completed series looks like on a chart rather than a sign of trouble. THE DOUBLE[S] is a scripted series from Wolf at the Door Studios that was still at #41 on US Fiction on October 3, 2026.
If you want it daily and short
Yesterday in Sports runs five to ten minutes a day on the previous day in sports, and The David Jeremiah Podcast publishes five days a week. Daily feeds are the hardest format to launch cold, because the chart rewards consistency and a new daily show has none, so the two that made it here are worth noting.
If you want the show before the audience arrives
Nine of the 42 were outside the top 100 across our entire prior window and appear in only a handful of our dates. Dear Dr. Jen is the clearest case, averaging inside the top 12 of US Health & Fitness in the recent window from nothing in the prior one. These are the names to watch rather than to bank on, and you can follow them week to week in CastFox rather than re-checking the charts by hand.
What a 2026 Debut Means if You Buy Ads or Book Guests
A show's age changes the deal more than its rank does. Three practical points come out of this data.
New shows have room and no rate card history
This year, 42 shows reached a US top 100 chart within months of launching. A show at #25 that launched in February has usually not reset its pricing to match, and its inventory is far less likely to be sold out six weeks ahead than an incumbent at the same rank. The flip side is that there is no track record to check, so the snapshot count in the table above is the number that matters: 7 of these shows have been in the top 100 across 20 or more of our 27 dates, and those are the ones with evidence behind them.
Feed age is a pitch filter, not a detail
If you book guests, a show in month four is a very different conversation from a show in year six. It is also where the rolling-feed problem bites hardest: a pitch written as though a fifteen-year-old show is a new one lands badly. Checking the feed's indexed date alongside its oldest episode takes a second in a show analysis and it is the single easiest way to avoid that.
Country spread tells you whether a launch travelled
Among these 42 launches, the spread runs from shows charting in a single country to American Power at 45 and America, Actually at 44 on October 3, 2026. For an international brief, that column is the first filter, because a US top 20 position with one country behind it and a US top 20 position with 40 behind it are not the same buy. CastFox tracks chart position in 78 countries, which is where those figures come from.
If you want this as a repeatable workflow rather than a list, our guide to vetting a podcast before sponsoring it and the podcast media buying guide cover the rest, and guest finder handles the booking side.
Methodology: Where These Numbers Come From
CastFox records the Apple Podcasts top 100 for every genre in 78 countries. This post uses the US charts for 19 top-level genres across 27 snapshots taken between February 24, 2026 to October 3, 2026. We took the shows that moved on those charts in that window, 760 distinct shows after merging across genres, and tested each one for a 2026 launch.
The launch test requires two things, both from the show's feed record: the oldest episode still in the feed is dated 2026, and the feed was first indexed in 2026. 685 of the 760 shows have a first-episode date on record. 42 passed both tests and 22 failed the second, which is the rolling-feed case explained above.
The order is a score: 50 percent how high the show currently sits (its position in the latest snapshot, or its average rank where it is no longer charting), 35 percent how many of our 27 snapshots it appears in, and 15 percent how many of the 78 country charts had it in the top 100 on October 3, 2026. Height is weighted highest because this is a list of new shows that worked; persistence is weighted next because a single appearance proves little.
The movement figures in the cards compare each show's average rank across the three most recent snapshots (October 3, September 25, September 19) with its average across the three before them (September 8, September 4, August 18), which is the same window the rising this month section uses inside every CastFox listicle. A show absent from the top 100 in the prior window is reported as new to the top 100 rather than given a number.
What is not here: download figures, listener counts, revenue and CPMs. Apple publishes none of those and we do not estimate them. Everything written about a show comes from its own feed description, and nothing about hosts, awards or episodes has been added from outside it. Snapshots are taken at intervals rather than every single day, so 27 snapshots covers roughly eight months.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best new podcast of 2026?
By our ranking it is America, Actually with Astead Herndon, a weekly Vox Media politics show whose first episode is dated April 5, 2026. It has appeared in 23 of our 27 US Government chart snapshots, peaked at #2, and was charting in 44 countries on October 3, 2026. American Power is second on almost identical numbers and holds the better average rank of the two.
What are the best debut podcasts 2026 has produced so far?
9 of the 42 debuts in this data have reached the top 10 of their US genre chart: America, Actually with Astead Herndon, American Power, Two Sons and Me, Dominican Sisters Open Mic, Notes from the Edge, Dear Dr. Jen, Big Bro with Kid Cudi, Reconstruction: The Unfinished Promise and The Parent Chat with Dylan Dreyer. Notes from the Edge is the only one of them holding #1 on its chart as of October 3, 2026.
How many new podcasts reached the Apple top 100 in 2026?
Across the 19 US genre charts we track, 42 shows that published their first episode in 2026 reached a top 100 position at some point this year. 20 of them got into the top 25. That is out of 760 distinct shows that moved on those charts during the window, so roughly one chart mover in eighteen is a genuine 2026 launch.
How do you tell a genuinely new podcast from an old show with a new feed?
Check two dates, not one. Many long-running shows keep only their most recent episodes in the feed, so the oldest episode can be a few months old on a show that has run for a decade. We require both the oldest episode and the date the feed was first indexed to fall in 2026. That rule removed 22 shows from this list, several of them network and radio feeds with round episode counts of 100, 200 or 1,000.
How is this list ranked?
By a score built from CastFox chart data: 50 percent current chart height, 35 percent how many of our 27 snapshots the show appears in, and 15 percent how many of the 78 country charts had it in the top 100 on the latest date. It is not ranked by downloads, which Apple does not publish, and it is not ranked purely by rank movement; for that, see our fastest growing podcasts of 2026.
Do new podcasts stay on the Apple charts?
Often not. Of these 42 launches, 37 were inside their chart's top 100 on October 3, 2026 and 5 were not, and only 7 have held a place across 20 or more of our 27 snapshots. Some of the departures are finite series that simply ended. The snapshot count in the table is the quickest way to tell a show with a floor from a show that had one good month.
