Best Solo Host Podcasts 2026: Top 20 Ranked by Data

Best Solo Host Podcasts 2026: The Top 20 Shows Ranked by Chart Data

Updated October 2026 · Based on CastFox data covering 27 snapshots of 17 US Apple Podcasts top 100 charts (2026-02-24 to 2026-10-03) and 5M+ indexed podcasts

The best solo host podcasts 2026 has on the charts are led by The Mel Robbins Podcast, Huberman Lab and Philosophize This!. We read the description of all 3052 shows that held a place in the top 200 of 17 US Apple Podcasts genre charts this year, kept only the ones that describe a single host, narrator or speaker and no co-host, guest or interview, and ranked the 41 we could confirm on 27 chart snapshots taken between February 24, 2026 and October 3, 2026.

The headline number is how rare this format is at the top of a chart. Of those 3052 shows, 1058, about 35 percent, describe a second voice in the room: a co-host, a guest, an interview or a panel. Solo shows are the minority, and the 41 on this page are the ones that still charted all year without one.

The ranking is not a staff vote. It is chart consistency first: how many of our 27 snapshots the show appeared in, how close to the front of its chart it sat, and how many of the 78 country charts we track had it in the top 100 on our latest date. All 20 shows in this top 20 appeared in every one of the 27 snapshots, and 2 of them have held the number one position on their chart at least once.

They are spread unevenly across the charts, which is the second finding here: Mental Health 4, History 3, Entrepreneurship 2, Health & Fitness 2, Religion & Spirituality 2, Self-Improvement 2, News 1, Philosophy 1, Science 1, Technology 1, True Crime 1. 4 of them were inside the top 100 in all 78 countries we track on October 3, 2026: The Mel Robbins Podcast, Huberman Lab, Philosophize This! and Founders.

Apple does not publish download numbers and we do not estimate them, so nothing on this page is an audience figure. Chart position measures attention. For the other side of this format, see our best interview podcasts of 2026.

What Counts as a Solo Host Podcast Here

Apple has no category called Solo, which is why a list like this is normally assembled from memory and ends up as the same handful of famous names. We built it from the charts in three steps, and the middle step is the one that matters.

First, we pulled the top 200 shows by chart presence from each of 17 US genre charts across all 27 snapshots, which is 3052 distinct shows once duplicates across charts are removed. Second, we read every one of those descriptions and removed any show whose own words put a second person in the episode: co-host, hosts, guest or guests, interview, panel, joined by, in conversation with, brings together experts. That removed 1058 shows and left 1994.

Third, we read the survivors, most chart-present first, and kept only the shows where the description actually names or describes one host, narrator, preacher or reader carrying the episode. Silence is not evidence: plenty of feeds say nothing about format at all, and plenty of the ones that do turn out to be two people. We confirmed 41 shows this way. That is a floor, not a census. We did not hand-read the full tail of the 1994, so there are certainly solo shows further down these charts that are not on this page.

Three shows were dropped at this stage after a second read, and the reasons are worth stating because they show where the method strains. Two have no description text in our index at all, so nothing about them could be sourced. One, a daily scripture feed, names a second person who joins the host for context episodes, which is exactly the thing this list is meant to exclude even though most of its episodes are one voice.

What this list is not: it is not a count of episodes without guests, because feeds do not publish that, and it is not an audience ranking. It is the set of one-voice shows that the US charts kept near the front for eight months, with the record printed next to each one.

All 20 Solo Host Podcasts in One Table

Read the average-rank column before the best-rank column. A best rank of #1 tells you a show touched the front of its chart once. An average of #2 across 27 dates, which is what The Mel Robbins Podcast holds, tells you it lives there. The last column is how many of the 78 country charts we track had the show in its top 100 on October 3, 2026, and it is where the gap between a US hit and an international one shows up.

Best Solo Podcasts to Listen To: The Top 20, Show by Show

Each card carries the show's own description of itself, the reason it placed where it did, and its full chart record. Scores combine chart consistency, average position and country coverage, so a show with a slightly worse peak can outrank one with a better peak. Everything factual about a show comes from its feed or from our chart data.

#1
The Mel Robbins Podcast podcast cover art

#1. The Mel Robbins Podcast

Published by Mel Robbins · US Self-Improvement chart

Best rank #2Average rank #2In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 78 countriesUS Self-Improvement chart

About this show: Mel Robbins delivers her own material. The feed says that in every episode she is giving listeners her hard-fought secrets, research-backed tools and personal stories, with no second voice in the room. It also calls itself the number one podcast on the globe, which is the show's claim and not a CastFox measurement.

Why it is on this list: It is the best result in this entire data set. No solo show matches it on the combination of chart consistency, average position and country coverage, and almost no guest-led show does either. The chart record: best rank #2, average rank #2 across 27 of our 27 US Self-Improvement snapshots, #3 on October 3, 2026, charting in 78 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want advice delivered straight, and advertisers who want the widest international reach available in a one-voice format.

#2
Huberman Lab podcast cover art

#2. Huberman Lab

Published by Scicomm Media · US Health & Fitness chart

Best rank #1Average rank #3.2In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 78 countriesUS Health & Fitness chart

About this show: Hosted by Andrew Huberman, a neuroscientist and tenured professor of neurobiology at Stanford School of Medicine. The feed says the show covers neuroscience and science-based tools, including how the brain and its connections to the organs of the body shape perception, behavior and health.

Why it is on this list: It is the clearest proof that a single voice explaining research can hold the front of a chart indefinitely. It reached the top of its chart and never left the top 100 in our window. The chart record: best rank #1, average rank #3.2 across 27 of our 27 US Health & Fitness snapshots, #5 on October 3, 2026, charting in 78 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want a lecture rather than a conversation, and advertisers in health, supplements and wearables.

#3
Philosophize This! podcast cover art

#3. Philosophize This!

Published by Stephen West · US Philosophy chart

Best rank #2Average rank #4.3In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 78 countriesUS Philosophy chart

About this show: An educational philosophy show that the feed describes as beginner friendly if you listen in order, working chronologically through the thinkers and ideas that formed the modern world and breaking each one down in plain language.

Why it is on this list: This is the most surprising reach on the list. A one-person explainer series about philosophy charted in every country we track, which almost nothing in our data does without celebrity guests behind it. The chart record: best rank #2, average rank #4.3 across 27 of our 27 US Philosophy snapshots, #3 on October 3, 2026, charting in 78 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want a structured course instead of a discussion, and advertisers aiming at an educated international audience.

#4
The AI Daily Brief: Artificial Intelligence News and Analysis podcast cover art

#4. The AI Daily Brief: Artificial Intelligence News and Analysis

Published by Nathaniel Whittemore · US Technology chart

Best rank #2Average rank #6.2In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 67 countriesUS Technology chart

About this show: A daily news analysis show on artificial intelligence. The feed says NLW looks at AI from several angles at once, from the creative tools to the disruption of work and industries to the philosophical and practical questions around advanced AI, alignment and risk.

Why it is on this list: Daily news without a co-anchor is the hardest version of this format to sustain, and this is the only technology show in our pool that we could confirm runs it. It charted on every date we checked. The chart record: best rank #2, average rank #6.2 across 27 of our 27 US Technology snapshots, #12 on October 3, 2026, charting in 67 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want one person's read on the day's AI news, and B2B advertisers selling to technical and executive buyers.

#5
The Psychology of your 20s podcast cover art

#5. The Psychology of your 20s

Published by iHeartPodcasts · US Mental Health chart

Best rank #12Average rank #15.6In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 76 countriesUS Mental Health chart

About this show: Hosted by Jemma Sbeg. The feed says each Tuesday and Friday the show takes one topic that defines the decade, from dating and mental health to career anxiety, friendship and money, and works through the science and psychology behind it.

Why it is on this list: It holds a top-100 place in nearly every country chart we track while publishing twice a week with one host and no guest booking, which is the most efficient result on this list. The chart record: best rank #12, average rank #15.6 across 27 of our 27 US Mental Health snapshots, #20 on October 3, 2026, charting in 76 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners in their twenties who want an explainer rather than an interview, and advertisers aiming at that age band internationally.

#6
Boring History for Sleep podcast cover art

#6. Boring History for Sleep

Published by Velvet · US Science chart

Best rank #6Average rank #9.5In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 67 countriesUS Science chart

About this show: The feed is explicit that falling asleep partway through is the intended outcome. Each episode is a slow walk through the dullest corners of the past, treaties nobody remembers and kings who ruled for three weeks, read in a deliberately soporific voice and credited to Velvet.

Why it is on this list: Sleep narration rarely travels, because the voice has to work for the listener and most listeners stay in their own language market. This one charted in two thirds of the countries we track. The chart record: best rank #6, average rank #9.5 across 27 of our 27 US Science snapshots, #8 on October 3, 2026, charting in 67 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want history as a sleep aid, and advertisers who want a nightly listening habit rather than a daytime one.

#7
The Jefferson Fisher Podcast podcast cover art

#7. The Jefferson Fisher Podcast

Published by Civility Media · US Self-Improvement chart

Best rank #7Average rank #12.8In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 66 countriesUS Self-Improvement chart

About this show: A communication show. The feed promises actionable strategies in every episode for arguing less and talking more, published every Tuesday, and points listeners to the host's book and his school of communication.

Why it is on this list: It has one of the smallest feeds in this top 20 and the reach of a show several times its size, which means the format is doing the work rather than the back catalog. The chart record: best rank #7, average rank #12.8 across 27 of our 27 US Self-Improvement snapshots, #15 on October 3, 2026, charting in 66 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want one usable technique per episode, and advertisers in professional services, software and recruiting.

#8
Founders podcast cover art

#8. Founders

Published by David Senra · US Entrepreneurship chart

Best rank #16Average rank #23.4In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 78 countriesUS Entrepreneurship chart

About this show: David Senra reads a biography of an entrepreneur every week and pulls out the ideas a listener can use at work. The feed explains the premise directly: thousands of years of people ran experiments on how to build companies, somebody wrote the results down, and a few hours with a book buys you that experience.

Why it is on this list: A show whose entire format is one person describing a book he has read charted in every country we track. Nothing else in our data makes the case for the solo format this plainly. The chart record: best rank #16, average rank #23.4 across 27 of our 27 US Entrepreneurship snapshots, #31 on October 3, 2026, charting in 78 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Founders and operators who want ideas rather than news, and advertisers selling to small business owners and investors.

#9
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History podcast cover art

#9. Dan Carlin's Hardcore History

Published by Dan Carlin · US History chart

Best rank #4Average rank #12.7In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 64 countriesUS History chart

About this show: Dan Carlin applies what the feed calls his unorthodox way of thinking to the past, asking questions like whether Alexander the Great was as bad a person as Hitler. The feed is careful to say this is not academic history and that Carlin is not a historian, and credits the show's draw to narration and drama.

Why it is on this list: The feed holds twelve episodes. Most shows with that few would not chart at all, and this one sat in the front half of its chart on every date we checked, which says the audience waits for it. The chart record: best rank #4, average rank #12.7 across 27 of our 27 US History snapshots, #13 on October 3, 2026, charting in 64 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want one long narrated series rather than a weekly habit, and advertisers who can work with an irregular release schedule.

#10
The Game with Alex Hormozi podcast cover art

#10. The Game with Alex Hormozi

Published by Alex Hormozi · US Entrepreneurship chart

Best rank #22Average rank #30.5In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 77 countriesUS Entrepreneurship chart

About this show: Alex Hormozi, described in the feed as an entrepreneur, founder, investor and author, covers getting more customers, making more profit per customer and keeping them longer, along with the failures and lessons from his own path.

Why it is on this list: It is the second business show in this top ten and it reaches almost every country chart we track, which is unusual for tactical business content built on one market's playbook. The chart record: best rank #22, average rank #30.5 across 27 of our 27 US Entrepreneurship snapshots, #41 on October 3, 2026, charting in 77 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Operators who want tactics without a guest's story attached, and advertisers in software, finance and business services.

#11
Timothy Keller Sermons Podcast by Gospel in Life podcast cover art

#11. Timothy Keller Sermons Podcast by Gospel in Life

Published by Tim Keller · US Religion & Spirituality chart

Best rank #5Average rank #9.3In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 46 countriesUS Religion & Spirituality chart

About this show: Sermons by Tim Keller, who the feed identifies as the founder of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City and the author of The Reason for God. The episodes are the sermons themselves, with no framing conversation around them.

Why it is on this list: Sermon feeds are the oldest one-voice format in podcasting and they usually stay inside one country. This one holds a front-of-chart position and charts in well over half the countries we track. The chart record: best rank #5, average rank #9.3 across 27 of our 27 US Religion & Spirituality snapshots, #9 on October 3, 2026, charting in 46 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want a 40-minute sermon on demand, and anyone studying how a single-speaker format travels.

#12
Sleepy History podcast cover art

#12. Sleepy History

Published by Slumber Studios · US History chart

Best rank #10Average rank #15.1In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 52 countriesUS History chart

About this show: History stories delivered in what the feed calls a supremely calming atmosphere, built to hold just enough of a curious listener's attention to crowd out racing thoughts while music and narration carry them to sleep. Produced by Slumber Studios.

Why it is on this list: It is the second sleep-history show in this top 20, from a different producer, both charting all year. That is the strongest signal in our data that this is a format rather than a one-off hit. The chart record: best rank #10, average rank #15.1 across 27 of our 27 US History snapshots, #12 on October 3, 2026, charting in 52 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want the same thing Boring History for Sleep offers in a more produced package, and sleep-category advertisers.

#13
Office Hours with Arthur Brooks podcast cover art

#13. Office Hours with Arthur Brooks

Published by Arthur Brooks · US Mental Health chart

Best rank #8Average rank #13In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 48 countriesUS Mental Health chart

About this show: The feed is written in the host's own voice: Arthur Brooks, a social scientist and Vanderbilt professor who writes about the science of human happiness, says each week gives listeners a look at current happiness research and how to use it.

Why it is on this list: It is both the newest feed in this top 20 and the largest climber anywhere in our solo-host data over the last two chart windows, which is the combination you want to catch early. The chart record: best rank #8, average rank #13 across 27 of our 27 US Mental Health snapshots, #15 on October 3, 2026, charting in 48 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want research summarized by the researcher, and advertisers in wellness, education and professional development.

#14. Nothing much happens: bedtime stories to help you sleep

Published by Wellness Loud · US Health & Fitness chart

Best rank #5Average rank #7In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 40 countriesUS Health & Fitness chart

About this show: Kathryn Nicolai, a yoga and meditation teacher, tells cozy stories in which, as the title promises, nothing much happens. The feed explains the mechanic: each episode is read twice, the second time more slowly, to carry the listener down.

Why it is on this list: It has the best average chart position of any sleep show here and the longest unbroken run, and it did that with a format that is one voice reading at one pace. The chart record: best rank #5, average rank #7 across 27 of our 27 US Health & Fitness snapshots, #8 on October 3, 2026, charting in 40 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want a nightly ritual, and advertisers in bedding, wellness and consumer health.

Live Free with Josh Howerton podcast cover art

#15. Live Free with Josh Howerton

Published by Lakepointe Church · US Religion & Spirituality chart

Best rank #1Average rank #2.4In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 30 countriesUS Religion & Spirituality chart

About this show: The weekly teaching feed from Pastor Josh Howerton at Lakepointe Church, which the feed describes as a movement for people to know Christ and live free. Episodes are the message, delivered by one speaker.

Why it is on this list: It has the second-best average chart position in this top 20 and it touched number one on its chart. The limit is geography rather than consistency, which the country column makes plain. The chart record: best rank #1, average rank #2.4 across 27 of our 27 US Religion & Spirituality snapshots, #1 on October 3, 2026, charting in 30 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners looking for a weekly sermon feed, and anyone measuring how much US chart presence a church audience can produce.

#16
Lore podcast cover art

#16. Lore

Published by Aaron Mahnke · US History chart

Best rank #6Average rank #10.4In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 38 countriesUS History chart

About this show: Aaron Mahnke's show about dark historical tales, which the feed says explores the creatures, tragic events and unusual places that fill the pages of history, on the premise that the truth is sometimes more frightening than fiction.

Why it is on this list: It is the longest-running narrated show on this list and it has not drifted down the chart, which is the harder half of the result once a feed is this large. The chart record: best rank #6, average rank #10.4 across 27 of our 27 US History snapshots, #7 on October 3, 2026, charting in 38 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want narrated folklore rather than a host chatting, and advertisers who want a horror-adjacent audience without true crime.

#17

#17. Serialously with Annie Elise

Published by Annie Elise & Audioboom Studios · US True Crime chart

Best rank #5Average rank #10.7In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 38 countriesUS True Crime chart

About this show: Annie Elise, who the feed says runs the true-crime YouTube channel 10 to Life, covers cases the way she wanted to hear them: the timelines, the red flags, the social media history and the overlooked details, told as if a friend were filling you in.

Why it is on this list: It is the only true-crime show in the top 200 of that chart that we could confirm runs without a co-host, in a category where two-host shows are close to the default. The chart record: best rank #5, average rank #10.7 across 27 of our 27 US True Crime snapshots, #12 on October 3, 2026, charting in 38 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: True-crime listeners who find two-host banter distracting, and advertisers who want that audience in a single-voice read.

#18. Sleep With Me

Published by Silver Sleeper Productions LLC · US Mental Health chart

Best rank #10Average rank #14.6In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 36 countriesUS Mental Health chart

About this show: The feed sets out the design: a bedtime story that lets you forget your problems and gets progressively more boring until you fall asleep. Get into bed, press play, close your eyes.

Why it is on this list: It has one of the largest feeds in our entire solo-host set and it charted on every date we checked, which is the clearest case here of a one-voice format compounding over years. The chart record: best rank #10, average rank #14.6 across 27 of our 27 US Mental Health snapshots, #17 on October 3, 2026, charting in 36 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Insomniacs who have tried meditation apps, and advertisers who want a long and habitual nightly listen.

The Ben Shapiro Show podcast cover art

#19. The Ben Shapiro Show

Published by The Daily Wire · US News chart

Best rank #5Average rank #7.6In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 21 countriesUS News chart

About this show: A daily conservative news and commentary program, Monday through Friday, which the feed describes as breaking down the culture in a comprehensive and principled fashion. The host carries the program.

Why it is on this list: It has one of the best average chart positions on this list and one of the narrowest country footprints, which is the trade political commentary usually makes. Both numbers are in the record below. The chart record: best rank #5, average rank #7.6 across 27 of our 27 US News snapshots, #6 on October 3, 2026, charting in 21 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want daily commentary from one host, and advertisers buying US-only reach in news.

#20. Just Sleep - Bedtime Stories for Adults

Published by Bedtime Stories with Taesha Glasgow · US Mental Health chart

Best rank #12Average rank #21.7In 27 of 27 snapshotsCharting in 37 countriesUS Mental Health chart

About this show: The feed is a single promise in the host's own words: in every episode they read an old story from the public domain so the listener can put the day behind them and drift off. Lie down, settle into the pillow, close your eyes.

Why it is on this list: It is the fourth sleep show in this top 20 and the one with the simplest production, a voice and a public-domain text, and it still charted on every date we checked. The chart record: best rank #12, average rank #21.7 across 27 of our 27 US Mental Health snapshots, #24 on October 3, 2026, charting in 37 of the 78 country charts we track that day.

Best fit for: Listeners who want a story rather than a meditation, and advertisers in the sleep category looking for low-cost inventory.

Podcasts With One Host: Where They Live on the Charts

If you are looking for podcasts with one host, the category you browse decides how much you will find. The table below counts how many of the 41 confirmed solo-host shows appear in each chart's top 200, against the size of the pool we read. Every chart had 200 distinct shows across our window except Comedy, which had 173.

Health & Fitness leads with 8, and the reason is the sleep and meditation shelf: a guided meditation or a bedtime story has no use for a second voice. Mental Health is close behind for the same reason. The religion charts are next, where the sermon has been a one-speaker format for longer than podcasting has existed.

The empty row is the most useful one. We confirmed no solo-host shows at all in the top 173 of the US Comedy chart. Comedy podcasting is built on two people reacting to each other, and our filter removed almost the entire chart on the first pass. If you are planning a comedy show and wondering whether to find a co-host, that is your answer from the data rather than from advice.

Technology, True Crime, Society & Culture, Arts, Marketing and Philosophy each produced exactly one confirmed solo show, which means the shows in those slots have no direct competition in their own format on their own chart. The AI Daily Brief: Artificial Intelligence News and Analysis and Serialously with Annie Elise are the clearest examples.

You can browse any of these categories directly: health and fitness, mental health, history, self-improvement, religion and spirituality, business, entrepreneurship, technology, news, science, true crime and philosophy.

Best Monologue Style Podcasts

The best monologue style podcasts in this data are the teaching shows: one person who knows a subject, talking into a microphone about it, with no interviewer to slow the explanation down. Eight of the top 20 work this way: Huberman Lab, Philosophize This!, Founders, The Psychology of your 20s, The Jefferson Fisher Podcast, Office Hours with Arthur Brooks, The Game with Alex Hormozi and The Mel Robbins Podcast.

What the chart data says about them is that the format exports. Philosophize This! and Founders both reached the top 100 in all 78 countries we track, and The Psychology of your 20s reached 76. A guest-led show usually depends on guests who are famous in one market. A monologue depends on the subject, and subjects cross borders.

The two daily shows on this list, The AI Daily Brief: Artificial Intelligence News and Analysis and The Ben Shapiro Show, are the hardest version of the format. Publishing five days a week with nobody to share the load means no sick days and no bad-guest episodes, and both of them held a place in the front half of their chart on every date we checked.

Best Solo Storytelling Podcasts 2026

The best solo storytelling podcasts 2026 put on the charts split into two groups that look similar and behave differently. The narrated group tells a story to keep you listening: Dan Carlin's Hardcore History, Lore and Serialously with Annie Elise. The sleep group tells one to stop you listening, which is a stranger product and a bigger business than most people expect.

Five of the top 20 are sleep shows: Boring History for Sleep, Sleepy History, Nothing much happens: bedtime stories to help you sleep, Sleep With Me and Just Sleep - Bedtime Stories for Adults. That is a quarter of this list in one use case, from five different producers, all charting across our full window. Two of them, Boring History for Sleep and Sleepy History, use the same idea of history as a sedative and both work, which is the strongest evidence in our data that this is a durable format rather than one lucky show.

The narrated shows are the oldest solo format in podcasting and still the most reliable. Lore has one of the largest feeds in this data set and has not slipped down its chart. Dan Carlin's Hardcore History has twelve episodes in its feed and an average US History rank of #12.7, which is the most extreme efficiency figure on this page: audiences wait years for an episode and the chart does not forget.

Best Single Host Podcasts: What the Format Changes for Advertisers

If you buy podcast advertising, the best single host podcasts are a different product from the best interview shows, and the difference is worth money in both directions. There is one voice reading your copy, and the listener has chosen that voice, so a host-read placement lands with the credibility of the whole show behind it rather than a guest's. There is also no guest to be awkward about, which is why so much direct-response inventory sits in this format.

The costs are real too. A solo show is one person's schedule, so inventory disappears when they take a month off, and there is no co-host to carry the read. The publishing side of that shows up in the feeds: the smallest feed in this top 20 holds 12 episodes and still holds a front-half chart position, while several others are running daily, and those two kinds of show need completely different booking lead times.

The country column in the table above is the other thing to read before you buy. 19 of these 20 shows charted in at least 30 of the 78 countries we track, and the political and religious shows on the list charted in the fewest. A show with a great US average and a single-digit country count is a US buy, not an international one, whatever its download numbers say.

For how that fits into a plan, our complete guide to podcast media buying covers budgets and negotiation, and podcast advertising platforms in 2026 covers where this inventory is actually sold. You can also check which of these shows already run ads and for whom on their CastFox profiles.

Rising This Month

These are the confirmed solo-host shows with the largest improvement in average US chart rank between our two most recent windows: October 3, 2026, September 25, 2026, September 19, 2026 compared with September 8, 2026, September 4, 2026, August 18, 2026.

Be careful what you read into this section for this particular list, because the honest finding is how little movement there is. Of the 40 confirmed solo shows that appeared in both of those windows, 8 improved at all, and the single largest move in the whole set is 12.3 places. Every one of them was already charting in the earlier window, so none is new to the top 100. Solo-host shows in our data are stable rather than volatile, which makes sense for a format built on one person and a habit.

Two cautions, as always. A climb within the top 100 of one genre chart is not growth in listeners, since a show can rise because the shows above it published less. And a move of a point or two on 27 snapshots is inside the noise until it repeats. The fastest growing podcasts of 2026 post applies the same method across every chart we track.

Methodology: Where These Numbers Come From

CastFox records the Apple Podcasts top 100 for every genre in 78 countries. This post uses 27 US snapshots taken between February 24, 2026 and October 3, 2026. For each of the 17 charts in the table above we took the top 200 shows by chart presence, which is 3052 distinct shows in total, and read each one's feed description and CastFox summary.

Selection was two passes. The first removed every show whose description mentions a co-host, hosts in the plural, a guest, an interview, a panel, being joined by someone, a conversation with someone, or bringing experts together: 1058 shows. The second was a hand read of the survivors in order of chart presence, keeping only shows whose description describes one host, narrator, preacher or reader carrying the episode. 41 shows were confirmed. Three were dropped at the second pass, two for having no description text at all and one for naming a second person who joins the host on some episodes.

Ranking score for each confirmed show: 50 points for chart consistency, the share of our 27 snapshots the show appeared in; 30 points for average rank, scaled so that #1 earns the full 30 and #100 earns none; and 20 points for country coverage, the share of the 78 country charts that had the show in its top 100 on October 3, 2026. A show that charts every day in one country can therefore be beaten by a show that charts slightly lower in sixty.

The Rising This Month section uses a different calculation: the change in a show's average rank between the three most recent snapshots and the three before them.

What is not here: download numbers, listener counts, revenue, the share of a show's episodes that have no guest, and episode lengths. Apple does not publish the first three, feeds do not carry the fourth, and this extract does not carry the fifth, so no figure on this page estimates any of them. Everything factual about an individual show comes from its own feed description, its CastFox summary or our chart record for it, and you can check any of it on the show's CastFox profile or through the analyze step.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best solo host podcast in 2026?

By this ranking it is The Mel Robbins Podcast. It appeared in all 27 of our US Self-Improvement chart snapshots between February 24, 2026 and October 3, 2026, held an average rank of #2, peaked at #2 and was inside the top 100 in all 78 country charts we track on our latest date. Huberman Lab is second with the same full country footprint and an average US Health and Fitness rank of #3.2, and Philosophize This! is third.

What are the best single host podcasts for someone who dislikes interviews?

The teaching and explainer shows, because there is nobody to interrupt the explanation: Huberman Lab, Philosophize This!, Founders, The Psychology of your 20s and The Jefferson Fisher Podcast are all in this top 20 and all run one voice. If you want narration rather than instruction, Lore, Dan Carlin's Hardcore History and Serialously with Annie Elise are the narrated equivalents. All of them charted in every one of our 27 snapshots.

Are there any solo comedy podcasts in the top charts?

Not in our data. We read all 173 shows that held a place in the US Comedy top 100 across 27 snapshots and could not confirm a single one that describes itself as having one host and no guests. Comedy podcasting is built on two or more people reacting to each other, and it is the only chart of the 17 we read that produced no solo shows at all.

How is this list ranked?

On chart data, not opinion. Each show scores 50 points for how many of our 27 US chart snapshots it appeared in, 30 points for its average rank on that chart, and 20 points for how many of the 78 country charts we track had it in the top 100 on October 3, 2026. Before ranking, we removed every show whose own description mentions a co-host, guest, interview or panel, which was 1058 of the 3052 shows we read, then hand-checked the rest.

Why are so many of the best solo podcasts to listen to sleep and meditation shows?

Because the format fits the job. A bedtime story or a guided meditation needs one steady voice and would be ruined by banter, so sleep is where solo shows are least likely to have a co-host. 5 of the 20 shows on this page are sleep shows from five different producers, and Health and Fitness plus Mental Health together hold 15 of the 41 solo shows we confirmed.

Do solo host podcasts accept guest pitches?

Mostly not, which is the practical reason to use this list for listening or for advertising rather than for pitching. A show with no guest slot in its format has nothing to pitch for, and the few that occasionally run an interview book it as an exception. If you are looking for shows that book guests, start from our interview podcasts list instead.
